  • this was the 70s, not far from downtown L.A. we were very fortunate to have some of the best strips and drivers in the country at that time. Irwindale, Lions, O.C.I.R. Pomona, and Ontario then home to the supernationals. top drivers from all over the country would come to southern california for some of the top races. out of the five strips mentioned the only one left is Pomona, home of the Winternationals. I was very fortunate to grow up in the middle of all this. those were the DAYS.

  • were all those old cal.tracks that crappy looking what dumps

  • @itsracingron25 Everything looked different in the 70's. There was no supertracks just tracks and many more of them.

  • Most of it is at Irwindale. I believe this was a 32 Funny Cars Race there, maybe even the Last Drag Race.

  • id like to see some footage of forces first funny car the nightstalker, i know they recreated it this year at night under fire at norwalk, ohio

  • The freeway in background is the 210 behind the starting line. Today where the track was is the Miller brewery. However a mile or so down the road is the new Irwindale Speedway.

  • This is Irwindale, not OCIR
