  • synths are dangerous!!! long live the laughing stock! brilliant...

  • @gamelanplan yes it is Daniel interviewing Mark. He almost looks like his dad.

  • Mark Hollis where are you?

  • You can tell Steven Wilson is heavily inspired by this dude. They think a lot alike, but Mark was first.

  • Is that Daniel Richler interviewing Mark?

  • Ladies and gentlemen,GOD has spoken.

  • His commentary on music videos is incredibly ironic, given that the video for "It's My Life" is nothing but stock nature footage plus a few shots of Hollis standing around. It's reminiscent of the primitive music videos made in the 1960s.

Interesting how his commentary on synthesizers foreshadows the direction Talk Talk would later follow.

  • @AssociationAdmirer Yes, and it still holds up better than most video of the era. As does the music.

  • Haunted me when it came out. Haunts me now. Real music.

  • No wonder he doesnt do interviews - he sounds like rodney from Only fools and horses

  • Critical to the submission of outstanding musicians to work making videos that reinterpret the lyrics making it a work of another person. Intelligent and provocative: the risks in the mouth of Hollis and disqualified from appearing in singing lips shut to symbolize censorship that the commercial videos require the musicians making the puppets.

  • I miss the 80s music.

  • EXCELLENT!

  • Respect to the Genius !

  • Great to see this interview. Hollis wasn't a fan of the music press .

  • I think this shows just how ahead of his time Hollis was!

  • I loved the way mark used empty spaces in his solo music,it allowed his music to breathe .

  • I think he is brilliant !! and has a special gift that these reporters are so not in tune with these amazing talented people.. perhaps on the autism spectrum, Mark? Very bright man!

  • I love this song... It's My Life... Too bad Gwen Stefani butchered the hell out of it! Mark Hollis' voice is so haunting and beautiful! I wish they would get back together to perform, esp for those of us who never got to see them in their prime!

  • Amazing that a man who I call a genius has such a beautiful vocal range and an understanding of music, but no disrespect, is interviewed as being rather 'dumb' !!

  • I want a photo of the second 0:56

  • Rare interview footage of a uniquely gifted artist. Thanks for posting!

  • Thanks for putting this up!
