That tone is pretty nasty even for Uncle Joe... My God the man is skilled... And balls of steel... Taking on one of "God's signatures"... Clapton, Jesus, whomever... Bless Joe Walsh...
Everybody like to" Bash Joe Walsh" pretty sad. He is one of the most underrated guitarists and song writers in the last couple of decades plus. Sad truly sad. he cleaned himself up! Now be nice. Even when he had the drug and drinking problem he was still great. Better than a whole lot of guitarists I hear out there today.
this is the funniest video I've ever seen of Joe Walsh....He just keeps playing so loud over Bruce!...I get the feeling that this is even before the James Gang and Joe was the "hired" local band to play behind Jack...like Chuck Berry used to do... hire locals to be the cheap backup band and keep the money...that is definately a young Joe..no doubt in my mind...and he goofs on Jack...jumpin up and down..gotta love joe!
@Crowsfan55 Are we watching the same video? You think this was before The James Gang, mid 60's? Look at their ages: Hiram was my age, he would have been 16 when Walsh QUIT James Gang, in the vid he's early 30's. Look at the Spector bass, synth, drum kit, clothes, haircuts, etc..... Late 80's, no doubt.
@BhatMasterson James Gang with Joe Walsh and Dale Peters was not the 60's. This is probaly 68 after Cream broke up. It's a local ohio tv show...Joe's from Ohio. Jeez by the late 80's I had seen Joe 6 times...starting with the James Gang in 73...twice with the Eagles in the mid 70's...plus numourous times with various band combinations..(best with Willie Weeks, Don Feldor..just check the mirror ball live album)...as far as the drum kit...duh PEARL? clothes? tie dyed? haircuts? 60's?
@Crowsfan55 I stand corrected...there is another video from this show in which Joe plays "Life's been Good"...which would place it late 70's (released in 78)...so probably 79-80 when this was recorded...
@Crowsfan55 Again, casual observances (see my last post, watch it again) prove that it's late 80's. But, if you'd like a definite answer, google "Jack Bruce Joe Walsh Hiram Bullock" and you will find : Dec 4, 1988. There's also a nice vid of them backing Al Green. The notes under the above video also say '88.
You gave me a "duh" implying I was the one lacking sense. Hilarious! Your first guess was 20 years off, your second was 10 years off.
@BhatMasterson Yes it was sometime in the 80's not the 60's. Jack even stated they met in Detroit around 68. The James Gang opened for Cream in Detroit.
@videostan Yea, I have a comment. Kenwood Dennard plays drums. Hiram Bullock, rest in peace, is the other guitar player. And yes, that is Joe Walsh. Probably stoned.

That is, the one and only David Sanborn !!! How cool was he?

@PGTID He had a signature tone, but I sort of get tired of it-1 trick pony. Still, he can blow.

Is that David Sanborn introducing the band? It certainly looks like him.
