  • wish i had a fraction of that talent

  • It takes great talent to take a simple tune, turn it inside out and play it every which way. What a wonderful opportunity you are providing for those of us who never got the chance to see and hear this musician during his time on this earth. If we are lucky maybe we can all learn to play a little bit like Chubby Wise.and keep his music going on and on.

  • This tune has a real sweet sound. I wish music could be beautiful, heart felt and fun again. This generation could learn a lot from real musicians like Chubby Wise.

  • Thank you all so much. He was an incredible musician and we were honored to have the opportunity to share a stage with him. He was also a friend and a fine man and mentor. Thanks for the posts! We have some more clips still to post as soon as we can get them up.

  • First heard this as a kid in Houston back in the 60's when Chubby cut this on the Stoneway label as a single. It was being played about once an hour down there.

Will still fill a BIG Texas dance floor when played!

  • Hi Ralph and thanks for your comment! I play the banjo and guitar upside down and backwards, just never changed the strings around. I decided to do it that way because i didn't want to have a banjo different from anyone else's...made sense to me at the time. Chubby was a joy to pick with. I'll send you a link of me playing that you may be interested in because it is closer and you can see the strings are actually upside down.

  • Strange, I didn't notice it before that the banjo player is left handed.. Left handed myself and all these years I couldn't find a lefthanded banjo. I have one now and so got a video to learn from! Gteat fiddle and dobro playing. Sad so many good musicians have left us but we can keep the music alive.I like his fiddle the best.

  • Thanks so much. He was one of a kind.

  • Theres a lot of great fiddle player out there ,,but Chubby,s the king.,He can really make that fiddle talk.. Thanks so much for posting ... R I P Chubby.

  • @drifterls You got it right man, he's awesome.

  • I had no idea Satan Clause played the fiddle!

    ROFL!

All these fellows did GOOD - GREAT JOB!

  • We remembered him getting it and how proud he was of it, but we could not remember the details. So happy to hear you are still making great music with it! I know Buz is delighted about that...! We have an acquaintance here in Tallahassee named R. Q. Jones who used to make dobros and I think he was somehow associated with Bob Reed. I know R.Q. made dobros, too, and was living in Oklahoma for a long time. He is a fine man and great dobro player, also.

  • Buz's dobro was built by the late Bob Reed in Wanton Oklahoma. It is beautiful solid mahogany with a beautiful sound. His name is inlayed in the frteboard in mother of pearl. i miss watching him play it. I now own and play it since his passing in 2002. I think of him everytime I play it..

  • We are so happy these clips are being enjoyed. We're just sorry we did not get them posted sooner. Buz's break is just beautiful. It does bring tears to our eyes. I believe that is the dobro he bought in Oklahoma that he was so proud of...a really nice one made by someone he admired? I don't recall who now or the story behind it.

  • It is incomprehensible what Chubby from his Fiddle in tones gets out.

This harmony between the singles ones passages it is unique.

Maiden`s Prayer with Chubby in the Fiddle it is timeless to listen !

  • This is priceless! Thank you so much for contributing this for all to enjoy. This stuff is timeless and will live on. I think I saw Skip wipe a tear. Me too.
