I love You're A Good Man, Charlie Brown. My parents taped it off CBS back in the late 80s, and just a year ago, I bought it on DVD, for its 25th Anniversary. I also bought the Peanuts DVD of Snoopy's Reunion which included another favorite of mine; It's Flashbeagle, Charlie Brown. Now that Peanuts is currently contracted with Warner Bros., and not Paramount, I hope WB will release more of them rare Peanuts cartoons onto DVD as well. I grew up with the Peanuts, and still enjoy them today.

for those dissing the low budget sounding recording its because for these cartoons charles wanted to use actuall children to be the voice actors for the kids

some that couldnt even read

so they had to instruct them to say several words at a time the cut and paste them together

@FakeCatvalentine 3 things, for one thing, what the hell is tuff puppy? Second, don't generalize people, I'm a kid from the 21st century and I love Peanuts. But quite honestly I think the animated version butchers the original strips, I love the freedom of the human mind to give characters their own voice so they don't sound annoying. And since this is clearly a low budget piece of work, the kids voices are ear piercing and I hate them.

I got to perform this song in 1974... in the 2nd grade. I auditioned and won the part out of over 100 kids. They built a large doghouse for me and I had to balance (on my back) on the top of it until sliding down to do the song and dance bit.

It's a blip in my life now, but I never forgot it. I sing this song to my 7 year old son when it's time for... what else--- supper!

When I was a teenager my home town high school did this play and the guy who played Snoopy was awesome during this number. He did the dance so well and got carried away and almost knocked over the dog house while dancing. It was great this is one of my fav songs from Charlie Brown.

When I was 18, I went to Knott's Berry Farm in California. The Peanuts gang are the mascots for that park, and I made it a point to get my picture taken with Snoopy and hug him. It didn't matter that he was just some guy dressed up like Snoopy, I did not care. I got to hug Snoopy. :)

Also, I have to agree with an earlier post, the best version I've heard is the Off-Broadway version.

This is a bit that calls for an out of control over the top performance. I mean on the original cast album, the 'Behold, the brimming bowl....' part comes of as operatic in its presentation, and the rest is played as a major Broadway showstopping production number, as Snoopy goes crazier and crazier with joy at eating, until an exasperated Charlie Brown breaks the mood.

The man who was in the Off-Broadway version actually did a much better job than Robert Towers (this version) or Roger Bart (though I thought he was the best part of the lacking revival). I think the orchestrations in the revival were good, but I felt it was more lavish than charming, while the original had charm, but only a piano and a drum.
