and to drop it down an octave (like in the very end) I believe he uses a Boss PS-5 Super Shifter.

He's actually doubling his voice. He's singing over the "Mercury's in retrograde" sample he recorded at the very beginning of the song. The result is crazy!!! The guitar is pretty mind-blowing too, very strident, almost discordant. The drums and bass play the part of "chaos control". The studio version does not hold a candle to the live one.

Kele's voice is so versatile, I won't be surprised if he could sing old soul songs, jazzy tunes and ballads as great as he does his own work.
