I have the exact same mouse and it takes at least 20 minutes for the damn thing to randomly turn on!

@stormseye23 I have the same mouse and what I have to do is turn it over and press the little black button a couple of times. It usually comes on then. It is located where the receiver clips in on the bottom. Hope it works for you.

I tried it and it still doesn't work.

It's really a problem because I use it in IT class and the first hour or so I'm stuck with my laptop's crappy touchpad until the red light on the mouse turns on and it can connect.

@stormseye23 Try holding the little button down for a few seconds, that's how mine works. If that doesn't work, it's time for a new one.

I got this mouse less than a week ago and it's broken. I'm not sure if it's a problem with the dongle or the mouse (they both light up) but it wont connect. Usually had to press the connect button 1/2 the time to get it going as well. When it worked it was nice...

Its a piece of shit mouse dont get it. This mouse drain battery like american's car with gas. It also disable the the power setting for you pc. Get a wired mouse from Logitech if you dont want to change battery every week and fix the damn thing so it connect.

I have the same exact problem you had. My mouse dongle is broken. This is the second time it's happened to me on this same type of mouse. The one that broke, broke about 2 weeks ago and this weekend i bought another one exactly like it and it is already broken. I'll probably get a different one because it broke again!

Ya, opposite happened to me (usb thing didnt work, mouse did)...I called Microsoft Tech Support and they sent me a brand new mouse and usb dongle.

Help me please. I have the Microsoft Notebook Optical Mouse with a wired USB 2.0. If there's a light it means the mouse is on. Long time ago it wasn't really working i had to press it hard to make the light come up. I left it in my closet for 3 months (at least) and then i try it, it doesn't work.

Last night, I was trying to open the back of the mouse, where the battery compartment is, and the spring where the button presses to pop it off came out!!! I was so upset, because this was such a good mouse. It does still work though.

Sounds like maybe it could be a problem with the interface drivers. Call Microsoft and they'll send you a new one :D

You can use this mouse with any USB 2.0 port (it worked on my desktop)...To turn it off, you have to put the USB dongle back into the socket (it pushes a small button, turning the mouse off).
