Rocky 5 is a let down to many of it's fans and many others, the saga just seemed to go more and more downhill until it hit rock bottom to Rocky 5, they said they were originally going to kill off Rocky which would have made a much bigger story and could have made a big shock to fans, but they decided not to giving a story that was already seen before.
What this movie really needed was an in ring fight with Rocky and Tommy. Then Rocky "gets it all back" like the trailer suggested. Really should have been the fall and rise of Rocky.

He also revenged Apollo's death by knocking out the giant Drago, a David & Goliath edge Much of the film was also like one long music video & the training montages were much better set in the Russian snow, albeit filmed in the US & Canada lol. Lots of fans just watch the music clips from Rocky IV.

@JFletch93 If it was done right it could of been better. I Think what they were trying to do in this movie since they thought Rocky fought the toughest fighters was to fight himself. Since tommy was trained by rocky and came from the same situation he's in it would be like fighting another rocky. In this case the student did not surpass the teacher. Most rocky fans were more disapointed that the fight did not take place in the ring.

Right but you have to remember when i say touchest it doesn't mean best. I think this is were people get confused. I have mentioned before that i belive apollo could beat clubber but not in a all out brawl like rocky tried to do the first time. Clubber is still tougher but apollo is a better well balanced fighter , so really cluber as far as brut strength goes is still tougher. I hope this cleared things up.
I'll add to what I just said about 6,5 because although Tommy had the power, he beat Union Kane in what was a setup. Mason Dixon had run over everyone, similar to Apollo Creed in Rocky I. I think Mason could've taken Tommy, Mason proved he had heart, Tommy never did. So I'd say again - 4,2,3,1,6,5

i think it is funny how when Rocky fights Apollo for 15 rounds in 1 and 2, he is all mangled and disfigured, but when fighting Drago (obviously the strongest fighter of all time), he just gets some swelling.

Tommy and i went back and forth thru facebook yesterday, he seems like one of the coolest people u can know. i just mentioned to him about my son who recently was in a gang and possibly may of used drugs. because of Tommys past drug usage and his newest book coming out soon called my darkest days, he wants to try and help.

@thegauntlet2001 I disagree. Creed in Rocky II was tougher than Clubber in Rocky III. Clubber was undoubtedly physically devastating but Mickey and Apollo had the same strategy (albeit through different means). Clubber couldn't go the distance. Mickey said that. A staggering pace (Apollo's advice) would accomplish the same goal and tire Clubber out. Creed was a goddamn machine in Rocky II. Aside from the early knockout in Rocky III (Mickey's death+bad strategy).
@sskats I agree with you about apollo, maybe not tougher but more endurance. If apollo was still the champion more than likly he would wear him out after the first couple of rounds and then go in for the kill. But going by raw power, clubber still beats apollo as the apllo neither from I or II would ever be able to knock rocky down in the second round and keep him there for a 10 count. Doesn't stop me from thinking that Apollo is the better well balanced fighter though ^_^.
@thegauntlet2001 The fights with Apollo Creed were much tougher than Clubber. Rocky was at his toughest in 1, 2 & 4. In Rocky III once he had learnt how to slip punches properly Clubber was not that tough. He lost to him the first time because he had become comfortable fighting weaker boxers during his title defences.
So in reality the real order of toughness is- 4, 1&2, etc
@Dangerous2099 I completly agree with you ^_^ , the kind of edurance apollo has i do not doubt that apollo could knock out clubber in the later rounds and wear him out. A tougher fighter in my opinion doesn't make you a better fighter, apollo would win because he's more well balanced , but as for pure strength clubber would excel in that field. Even knowing this factor i will admit that if clubber fought the old cast iron jaw rocky he would of lost to him.
@panhouska Right but youi have to remember that it was rocky's heart in essence made him tougher than his other opponets. Even Rocky's wife in part 5 says " all those fighters you beat , you beat them with heart not muscle. " The fact that tommy lacks this trait greatly dimenishes his toughness.

Apollo knew the pace had to be high in order to exhaust Clubber (Mickey thought of the same thing, except go 15 rounds which would've essentially done the same thing as what Apollo planned). I think Apollo in Rocky II would've executed that game plan against Clubber. Also, keep in mind Rocky fought exactly like Apollo (long jabs, quick footwork). So I think it's 4,2,3,1,6,5.

It was a cheap plot to make him return to Rocky's roots, *SPOILER* I hate how it turns around Paulie giving Rocky's accountant a power of attorney (giving him all Rocky's money) thinking it was only an extension of Rocky's tax return... doesn't Rocky read his letters? how come only with Paulie's signature the accountant would get all Rocky's money? wasn't it suppose to be Rocky's signature instead? The 2nd big flaw of the movie IMO (first being Rocky's son's age)
the sires would of ended great if they did want Sylvester wrote... When the street fight was over and rocky knocked out tommy rock had to the hospital and he died there because he has brain damage and tommy fucked up his head... rocky was a true fighter and he died for the sport but sadly they did not do that...

lol whats sad is that everyone here ( including myself ) would watch a Rocky VII If it was to come out. Rocky did say the beast was out of him but his son could take over in his fathers shoes if rocky was to train him, and maybe his son wins a few fights....gets overconfident and goes for the title. The current champ could be a real killer that nearly takes his sons life. Talk about motivation.... i think no matter how old rocky is he would let the eye of the tiger out at that point.

i dont hate rocky 5, i like it, i just dont enjoy it as much as all the others, because each rocky represented something,
rocky: reach your dreams
rocky 2 and 3: get up and try again
rocky 4: redemption
rocky balboa: same as 1 and 2-3
rocky 5:....rocky loses all his money for some reason and decides to train some guy who then turns his back on him and then they fight and rocky beats him :/

I don't understand why so many people hate Rocky 5, I personally thought the filmmakers couldn't have done better.
It was a nice touch the fact he was on the verge of dying from brain damage and he trained an apprentice called Tommy Gunn who would later betray him.

i think it is funny how when Rocky fights Apollo for 15 rounds in 1 and 2, he is all mangled and disfigured, but when fighting Drago (obviously the strongest fighter of all time), he just gets some swelling.

the one thing i really noticed throughout this series was the evolution of Adrians character, in the first movie she couldnt even make eye contact with rocky, but by the 5 movie, she is very outspoken about her feelings about him fighting, i liked seeing that. and i love all these movies,

Tommy and i went back and forth thru facebook yesterday, he seems like one of the coolest people u can know. i just mentioned to him about my son who recently was in a gang and possibly may of used drugs. because of Tommys past drug usage and his newest book coming out soon called my darkest days, he wants to try and help.

After rocky4 every enemie was weaker than the last. Tommy would of lost to apollo , drago and clubber in 5 , and mason in 6 was his weakest of all. Mason nearly lost to a rocky almost 20 years older than the last film , and rocky was retired in part 5. He only won by a split decision that could of gone either way...everyone knows rocky in part 4 or 3 would of killed him , it wouldn't even be considered a fight, it would look like a masacre

@thegauntlet2001 I disagree. Creed in Rocky II was tougher than Clubber in Rocky III. Clubber was undoubtedly physically devastating but Mickey and Apollo had the same strategy (albeit through different means). Clubber couldn't go the distance. Mickey said that. A staggering pace (Apollo's advice) would accomplish the same goal and tire Clubber out. Creed was a goddamn machine in Rocky II. Aside from the early knockout in Rocky III (Mickey's death+bad strategy).

@sskats I agree with you about apollo, maybe not tougher but more endurance. If apollo was still the champion more than likly he would wear him out after the first couple of rounds and then go in for the kill. But going by raw power, clubber still beats apollo as the apllo neither from I or II would ever be able to knock rocky down in the second round and keep him there for a 10 count. Doesn't stop me from thinking that Apollo is the better well balanced fighter though ^_^.

@thegauntlet2001 The fights with Apollo Creed were much tougher than Clubber. Rocky was at his toughest in 1, 2 & 4. In Rocky III once he had learnt how to slip punches properly Clubber was not that tough. He lost to him the first time because he had become comfortable fighting weaker boxers during his title defences.
So in reality the real order of toughness is- 4, 1&2, etc

@Dangerous2099 I completly agree with you ^_^ , the kind of edurance apollo has i do not doubt that apollo could knock out clubber in the later rounds and wear him out. A tougher fighter in my opinion doesn't make you a better fighter, apollo would win because he's more well balanced , but as for pure strength clubber would excel in that field. Even knowing this factor i will admit that if clubber fought the old cast iron jaw rocky he would of lost to him.

@panhouska Right but youi have to remember that it was rocky's heart in essence made him tougher than his other opponets. Even Rocky's wife in part 5 says " all those fighters you beat , you beat them with heart not muscle. " The fact that tommy lacks this trait greatly dimenishes his toughness.

@thegauntlet2001 I disagree. I think Apollo Creed in Rocky II would've defeated Clubber Lang. Apollo knew the pace had to be high in order to exhaust Clubber (Mickey thought of the same thing, except go 15 rounds which would've essentially done the same thing as what Apollo planned). I think Apollo in Rocky II would've executed that game plan against Clubber. Also, keep in mind Rocky fought exactly like Apollo (long jabs, quick footwork). So I think it's 4,2,3,1,6,5.

3 and 4 were the best. most entertaining, then he got into this melowdrama. peole dont come to see that just the entertainment. this movie sucked ass. How can tommy gun be and upgrade from the likes of drago, C'mon now. Balboas last 3 apponents were much better advesarries then little tommy gun. Stallone fucked up. He took his character backwards instead of forward. I was disapointed when I saw this back in 90. He was trying to do 1 all over again. And he did it again with 6.

It was a cheap plot to make him return to Rocky's roots, *SPOILER* I hate how it turns around Paulie giving Rocky's accountant a power of attorney (giving him all Rocky's money) thinking it was only an extension of Rocky's tax return... doesn't Rocky read his letters? how come only with Paulie's signature the accountant would get all Rocky's money? wasn't it suppose to be Rocky's signature instead? The 2nd big flaw of the movie IMO (first being Rocky's son's age)

the sires would of ended great if they did want Sylvester wrote... When the street fight was over and rocky knocked out tommy rock had to the hospital and he died there because he has brain damage and tommy fucked up his head... rocky was a true fighter and he died for the sport but sadly they did not do that...
