mine has been REALLY great at not chewing things.. but some can be really destructive. The main thing is to make sure that they get PLENTY of exercise. And crate training is a must!
i also have a boxer bitch that plays rough with my boy. i have come to think that they treat each other like litter mates rather than boy and dog. actually, like a dog and her boy. great to watch and also can drive me crazy when it happens before bed time. love the breed for their gentle nature but fierce loyalty. also, they are clowns and bring lots of laughs.

Thia is great that your sons dog loves his owners and wants to protect. But just a suggestion why would you allow wrestling between your dog and child....if the dog sees this as a form of controlling and dominating. Have you ever seen the dog whisper? I have 2 bulldogs who I love!! But it is obvious that the ones who are condoning such behaviour between animals & children has never read nor seen the UNPREDICTABLENESS of dogs or of any animal. Even the lovable dolphins. There are so many articles of loving dogs viciously attacking poor innocent babies in their sleep and dogs without any provocation biting another dog to death while the owners stood helplessly.

My baby cousin (age 2) and I were playing with her dog and the dog nipped her. We scolded the dog and now the dog knows better. She nipped her by accident. When you play with your dog and it will accidentally nip you. You won't get badly hurt in less the dog intentionally attacked you.
