Do you have any issues with accidentally pressing the wrong shift button in sport mode? What I mean is if you were to up shift, but you accidentally pressed the "-" button, since both up and down shift buttons are so close to each other.
@virozir ademas de el tacto diferenciado de los botones; estando la transmision en modo deportivo o manual, no te permite bajar la belocidad si no estas en un rango de revoluciones correcto para eso. ;)
addition to the distinct feel of the buttons, while the transmission in sport mode or manual, it allows you to download the belocidad if you're not in a correct rpm range for that. ;)
addition to the distinct feel of the buttons, while the transmission in sport mode or manual, does not let you slow down if you're not in a correct rpm range for that. ;)
@infinity3jif Yes it's sealed for life and under normal use is engineered to last about 150,000 miles. I believe the clutch packs are replaceable though but you don't have to do any fluid changes with it.
1:25 you need to push to get it back to "N"? That's a pretty dumb mistake by Ford in my opinion... because you could shift it accidentally to reverse when you want to coast and the car is in forward motion.
I bought one of these at end of Dec, and I had to adapt my foot to the pedal's tuning. Basically it hates the accelerator being moved very fast. Once you get going, there's a point you can push to that will give decent smooth revs and upshifts. But I totally agree that the pedal-to-trans tuning is TOO picky. Sometimes I forget when turning right at a yield sign, and stomp too fast and it revs way too high and jerks. The engine also needs to be at 2500+ rpm to feel its torque decently.
Consumer Reports ranked Ford in the 20th Place because of the MyFord or MyLincoln Touch problems and the Dual-Clutch Automatic Transmission in the Fiesta and Focus. The 2013 Ford Escape has a conventional 6 speed automatic and a better MyFord Touch. Probably you can trade the 2012 Focus with the 2013 Escape when it arrives in Spring.
@theballinmaster Doesn't really work that way with a leased vehicle...but I will be able to upgrade MyFord Touch to the newer version so hopefully that works out.
This is what is wrong with modern cars. Sir.or maam.not sure.Anyway you sit here and make these videos and complain that your Ford Focus isnt "sporty" enough and you complain that "you cant launch in second gear"Are you kidding me. If you wanted a "sporty" car you should have bought a mustang, camaro, corvette, etc.Hate to break it to you but a focus is not sporty. Neither is a cobalt, a jetta, or any other small four door sedan. You may think that its sporty, but a 175 horse 4 cylinder is not.
@applesmnch2 The SE has the same kind of automatic transmission as standard equipment, just not with sport or manual modes. They're all 6spd dual-clutch automated manual transmissions.
don't be convinced by what this guy is saying, there are actually a lot of cars out there that work well with twin clutch trannys, you just haven't given them a chance..
@metalmachine467 Yea NOT problems like this..lol.So far I have seen 3 Youtubers giving their problems about their brand new2012Ford Focus..lol.Their cars R falling apart inside&outside. Also the engine&electronics R giving them problems.I bought a brand new2012Hyundai Elantra Limited&I dont have1bad thing2say about it.I also got2drive aSonata&that car won2011mid size sedan car of the yr.Compact Car in2011&2012Elantra won it.Hyundai was SHIT back in the day,but times have changed!
hey my friend has a 2012 white focus. named squirtle lol. its awesome! but it always shifted smooth. he already has 14k miles on it! only had it for 2 months. he drives the hell out of it!
@mercmilan06 I'm fine, but the Explorer is not so good. Its still drivable, because the deer ran out of the woods and hit the side of the Ex. There's a pretty decent sized whole in.the front fender, the plastic wheel arch trim is crack in half, the reader bumper is totally misaligned and one of the clips that hold to into place
@mercmilan06 broke, and the taillight is barely holding on since on of the brackets that held that into place broke. It could be worse, but the Explorer looks like crap for now. After this, the body shop that State Farm recommended told me that it would be a few weeks before they could fix it, so I'm going to bder and loose tai driving around with a hole in my fender and loose tail lights for a few weeks. At least the paint wasn't scratched...
it sounds like a throttle calibration thing more than the tranny. if the throttle were more responsive then the transmission would keep up.....at least that's they way it seems to me. My 2011 outback has a slow throttle response at times too....it's the whole electronic control....I WANT A CABLE PEOPLE!!! I miss that on my 05 Accord....it was NOT electronic and had great response.....miss that car....LOL
This lag when you hit the gas pedal is not only Ford problem. all cars which electronic throttle have that issue. When you have normal car with throttle on cord, then it's working like it should.
@zetnakatel It's a lot clunkier than the Jetta and Passats I've driven, there are much better electronic throttle cars with dual-clutch transmissions out there
The transmission TSB solved all of my problems with jerkiness, RPM flares, throttle delay, etc. Dont know why you waited this long to get it, but i'm sure you wont be disappointed. I know the issues you're having are annoying, but the Focus is still a highly rated car by all accounts, and I absolutely love mine.
@falaqdad15 should be just fine if you get the 5spd manual too...the SE auto I drove had the same clutch chattering as this car out of first gear, only worse
All the ford fanboys were pissing themselves over this car when it came out and now I keep hearing about them being nothing but problems! Either way man I'm sorry to hear about them and I hope ford actually does something to help you instead of looking at you and shrugging at your problems like they did to my dad.
@Jakeman21642 Yeah I was one of those idiots pissing myself with excitement, looks like (for now) it'll be a Volkswagen Passat VR6 next time around (test drove one, loved it)...screw you Ford.
@mercmilan06 Its a very attractive car but ford specializes in making a turd look great. My family will never buy a ford again after the lemon probe we had and the fact that ford just didn't give a shit and was never willing to fix the car or even work with my dad even though the car was still fully under warranty. Volkswagen ftw! They're the only cars my family buys (I have a beetle my mom has a rabbit and my dad has a jetta) They are great cars! And Volkswagen give a shit about their buyers.
@20044runner The 2012 Passat VR6 has the same 20/28mpg rating as the Milan had...and I got very close to the highway rating in the Milan. The VR6 is a great engine, gets good mpg considering it has 280hp, and it is coupled to Volkswagen's excellent DSG with paddle shifters, I'm sold!
Apparently my focus was manufactured after the tsb but i am still having some problems with the transmission. Generally the first several shifts are rough but the longer you drive the smoother they get. Generally after 15 minutes or so all shifts are pretty much flawless. My focus still has only about 830 miles on it so the clutches are still breaking in
