i have the same set up, marshall jcm with mod 5 and splawn QR. i can tell you which one sits idle.,.....the marshall haha

does this amp still clean up if you turn down the volume pot?

@steelwizard : there are 2 gains at the front and a master volume at the back, so it doesn't really work like the original amp

Yeah, but is it still dynamic? So if you roll back the volume on the guitar you get a fairly clean sound?

@steelwizard : I tried tonight and you can turn down the guitar volume to play clean, it works just like on the non modified amp.

@BEATLEMANIA1256 the axis is a criminally underrated guitar. If I didn't have a JP6, I'd buy a super sport. Our guitar center was blowing the super sports out at a grand a couple of years ago. I'm kicking myself for not buying one.

Cool! I notice you also have a Quickrod (like me), how does the newly modded Marshall compare to the Splawn??

@AGK972 : the Marshall is tweaked for early Van Halen tone. The QR is more versatile and has probably more gain. I'm keeping both !
