"its a pen" "yesh ross its a pen one of paulines pens" hahahhaahha "yesh good" "An Astronaut" .... "Piss off" i love it when he does that thing with his jaw so well acted xD
How about sending all the Express-reading bigots onto an island instead. I can't even be bothered to get worked up by your kind any more. Most claimants are law-abiding and honest but its a waste of time trying to reason with ignoramuses like you.
Look at this forum. Look at the number of people saying this is what the jobcentre is actually like or not far off. And you think thats ok?
This is SO well observed!!! - the irony being that Pauline would never be able to get a job outside of The Job Centre Plus - and she knows it !!! She gets kicks from making other people feel worthless in order to give meaning to her sad existence, yet she is dependent on people remaining unemployed so that she even has a job! I've met characters such as Pauline many times over! One of them told me to leave details of my Masters Degree off my CV so that i can go for a checkout job in Iceland...
HONESTLY, me and a couple of mates are certain she was modelled on the nightmare woman we had for "common skills" on a college course in Grimsby. Reece said he was unemployed in Hull. Its gotta be her! LOL she wasnt obsessed with pens but WAS with biscuits! pay 1p or 2p...someone hasnt been putting their pennies in!
How so? The show had plenty of laughs and dark humour to it. The door to door christians for example. Just because it was different from the previous two series doesn't mean it was bad.
No the show always had a dark twisted nature about it so in that sense series 3 wasn't that different from the previous series. I didn't find the ending of series 3 depressing it was a kind of a happy ending for the characters.
This is very like job centre is. They don't seem to realise that sometimes no matter how hard you look, there just aren't the jobs there for you to do! They are very patronising.
google 'Ark and the Adams family, the John Adam St Gang' for where this corruption is coming from. DWP are located there in Adelphi House. The John Adam St Gang is the operating centre for the Committee of 300, and according to John Coleman (long since disappeared) nothing at all happens in the world without their approval. This does seem to be the case. The Job Centre Plus has also had mention in parliament as being 'those of that nature'.
The idea for Pauline is absolutely brilliant, from her purile middle-age looks (tinted glasses, argh!) - comparable to Dolores Umbridge in Harry Potter! - and her clear obsession with keeping her jobseekers unemployed so she can have power over them and feel better about herself.
PS - kudos to anyone reading who is unemployed. I was for 6 months after uni and just that had some depressive lows.
It almost seems like these kinds of programs are MEANT to be patronizing and useless. They're basically punitive, as far as I can see...I guess it's the only way to keep Daily Mail readers happy.
They can't help being patronising because they're working and you're not. They're just enjoying their day at work without care care in the world. The ones I've met are all ex holiday reps. Last year they were in Spain trying to get you pissed and rolling in your own sick. This year they're trying to get you back into work because you can't afford to go to Spain. Vultures.
Does anyone remember if they ever done a sketch before about a family kidding on they were naturist's, some friend a guy came to the house they were all naked so he got naked to after being persuaded then the door went and the person that came in went to answer it naked whilst he was at the door all the naked people put their clothes back on meaning he was the only naked one...any help on this sketch........
I did a similar training thing when I lived in London. Our leader wasn't quite as outrageous as Pauline but the whole thing was definitely as depressing! Hilarious!
ross was only there to check up on pauline to make sure she was doing a proper job.. later in the series it shows him reporting her for doing a shit job... she gets sacked for it as she hits him...
that bit in the third series was grotesque , I remember seeing Pauline pulling her tights and knickers up and thinking this is absolutely outrageous and Pauline is the "the women in comfortable shoes " sort to be PC
The flat were creepy all in white ,a very typical trendy bachelor's pad .
They were tying up all the loose ends in the last series .
The live show was brilliant - you'd be howling laughing .
the social has a reputation for being a bit ? LOL patronizing , some of it is because it's so regimented i.e. they have to parrot off this and that or they'll be in trouble , not everyone believes all that cr** though BUT some do , like every place of work only with the Social things get taken to extremes .
A4e anyone...???
