@jefersonmatos Right now I am using the POD X3 patches in direct line mode plugged into the return of a Marshall tube head and 4 X 12 cabinet. It sounds really great! I think it can sound bad when you plug it direct to the amps input. Thanks for the comment!
I agree, its easy to make anything sound bad when its not used properly ;-)
I use a PodXT Live (an earlier version of your floorboard) using the digital (Ethernet) sockets from a Variax which means I can switch guitars from the pedalboard's footswitches as well as Amp, Speaker and FX models
It can also work as a USB soundcard for a PC/Mac, if anyone is interested ;-)
@666guitarfreak Thanks for the tip... But almost all the places don't let you connect the multi-effect directly into the pa, they say it can damage the speakers. I don´t agree, because the pod has specific outputs for that. But it's difficult to convince the holdies about this... lol...
@jefersonmatos really? i never had any problems with this, if i ask them to hook it up to de PA, they usually just do so. and come on, damage the speakers? :S how's that xdd, i dont really see the difference for the speakers between micing up an amp, and just plugging you x3 live right in :P anyways, have you bought a pod x3 allready? if so, do you like it? :)

@LordInksworth it works with i'm assuming opticle pick ups that since the way the strings move, and that is sent to the small computer basicly in the guitar that you can edit, you can make sound like a strat or a les paul or what ever, then that gets sent to the x3 live processor that does all the effects, amazing really but, in that entire thing theres is no need for any conventional guitar equipment that you need except for picks and maybe a speaker cab but thats it every thing is similate
Can you please tell me how to add presets/tones/sounds to the pod x3. I'm new to it and i can't figure it out. I am a member on line 6 & i can download the tone. But the problem is, i don't know where to add the preset to.... i have usb to connect.

The Line6 Variax uses piezo pickups built into the bridge. The guitar's internal computer processes the sound & trys to copy the sound of many famous guitars. It does look a little wierd without pickups though!

Is this for real? You're using a Variax 500 and an X3 Live -- and nothing else?? or were you running it through an external amp? Either way, the tone quality is excellent.
BTW, your guitar work is excellent, too!! Not sure if I would have noticed it wasn't actually PF... (gasp) :)

H8 to sound like such a dipshit but what is the diff between a PODX3 and PODX3LIVE? Dou need them both? One is the modeler and one is just a pedal board? O are they tthe eaem thing and one is operated as a pedal board for stage and the other is more hand operated for the ssudio? Do they do the same shit? It's a good demo, lovely playing, but... get a nice phaser and a big reverb on the initial hook. And dump a load of extra distortion at 1:35 like in the original recording.

I have this problem while my POD x3 is playing out of a spider 3 head and speaker cabinet, using the amount of gain and dist. for metal, there is so much background noise and static. I can't seem to find out how to tweak it. If you know anything about that i'm all ears. thanks!

I have the Variax 500, which is now discontinued. All Variax have the same computer modeling and sound about the same. Yes, I think you can get the same sound from the POD XT Live. Thanks for the comments!
Hi i received my X3 yesterday and i cannot tell you how excited iam after hearing your cover...truly something to aspire to. I havent used gearbox or anything yet so ill try and get the patch, you generously offer, tonight. I have an Epiphone LP Std not a variax but hey its a start!

Hi, I've been getting requests for this on the Your Guitar Place site. I'll try to make a video soon of how to do it. I use Sonar to record the audio and Pinnacle Studio to sync the audio (exported as .wav from Sonar) and the captured video.

Pod X3 and Pod X3 Live are very different from one another.
Pod X3 is bean shaped and can only be handles with your hands, which is not good for live performances but more for home playing
The Pod X3 Live has the same tones, but is at the same time a pedal board and includes an expression pedal (wah, volume, etc).
I recommend the Pod X3 Live because if you have it, never again will you need to buy a pedal, although it is a bit more expensive.

The POD XT and X3 have an effect called the 'Bender' which acts like the Digitech Whammy.

XT dont have the Bender option, unless you buy the expansion package i think.

I have the Variax 500, which is now discontinued. All Variax have the same computer modeling and sound about the same. Yes, I think you can get the same sound from the POD XT Live. Thanks for the comments!

Hi i received my X3 yesterday and i cannot tell you how excited iam after hearing your cover...truly something to aspire to. I havent used gearbox or anything yet so ill try and get the patch, you generously offer, tonight. I have an Epiphone LP Std not a variax but hey its a start!

how do i use a computer to record me playing aswell as plug my guitar pod x3 to the computer and have the webcam record the sound aswell as the movie of me playing?
What software do you use and how do u use it to record sound from pod x3 and movie of you playing?

Hi, I've been getting requests for this on the Your Guitar Place site. I'll try to make a video soon of how to do it. I use Sonar to record the audio and Pinnacle Studio to sync the audio (exported as .wav from Sonar) and the captured video.
