Why are the two top comments about completely different artists/ groups than the legend performing in this video? John Fogerty is better than all mainstream music in this day & age. & This original & all of the originals by John Fogerty beat the multiple covers that were done. Without the originals, there would be no such thing as "cover songs"
It's a fabulous song which in Europe in synonimous with Status Quo, who covered it in 1977 to iconic effect. I bought the album in 1975 and it took me a long time to really appreciate the Quo version (depite being a Quo fan at the time) and even to this day if forced to choose I'd take the JF studio version over the Quo one. However, live, there's no comparrison, the Quo win hands down. This version is played just too fast and the Quo (and their audience) have so much fun with it live.
Fogerty wrote it but (at least in britain) Status Quo have the most famous version. Don't what it's like in the US but in the UK everyone thinks it is Quo's song.
This should have been a major hit in the U.S. in 1975. But John wouldn't tour or even do any interviews or TV shows. And the album was a mix of new and cover material, so it don't get a lot of notice. But, if memory serves, the song did make it into the top 30.
How can one guy be so great? That's easy, he's of Irish extraction. Van Morrison, U2, Westlife, Boyzone, The Pogues, Shane MacGowan, Enya, The Cranberries, The Corrs, Clannad, Sinead O,Connor, Davey Spillane, John McSherry, Flogging Molly, Christie Moore, Gary Moore, Dropkick Murphy's, Jaded Sun, Republic of Loose, Shaun Davey, The High Kings, Gaelic Storm, etc, etc. We are a musical race. Slainte.
@MrShotokan4 I like plenty of the pop people you just mentioned and Classic stuff. And punk. It's how well you do the thing you're trying to do. Not what people wish you were doing. Try and remember, many hardcore Stones fans and 4 Seasons Fans thought The Beatles were wimpy.
@MrShotokan4 so let them listen to the gay songs they wanna listen to you shouldnt give a shit worry about yourself dont try to be some sort of activist wanting people to do this but well if your listening to this then it dosent matter you judgemental asshole
Status Quo did a great cover of this. If you American people ever want a great blues-rock band like John Fogerty's group, Status Quo are the band for you.
I saw Fogerty for the "Blue Moon Swamp" tour...best show I think I ever saw!!!! How ever, since then every time I've seen him it's like he rushes just to get through and off the stage. Like he does in this video.
I am a native speaker and he says, "We're goin' out tonight with THE dancing shoes." He doesn't mean he is using some girl's shoes, it just means he is telling the girl's mother he is going out dancing with her.
LOVE IT....WOW

Just heard this version today (up til now thougt it was a quo song 80), and like it better than Quo's cover.
Fogerty wins hands down.

@jaggedittlegirl
I like the original but prefer Quo's but they are both very good in different ways.

Do you know how to tell that a drummer is knocking on your door? He keeps speeding up and doesn't know when to come in.

Yeah but overall Fogerty is far far better if you weighed Creedence up against Status Quo and i'm a Brit.

Unluckily, I'm not a native speaker... can anybody tell me what John intended to say when he says "Well, I’m gonna tell your mama what I'm gonna do,
We're going out of the night with your dancin’ shoes,"?
Is that he's going to tell some girls' mother that he is using her dancing shoes?
Odd...
