Laci, somebody who is a counselor in real life, reaching out to somebody who obviously has personal and psychological issues is something I can respect.
A guy who has nothing better to do than hurl insults for 6 minutes however is not.

I think Laci Green was trying to show what could be acheived if you show people (even seemingly unreasonable people) an open mind and civil demeanor. I wouldn't say she succeeded, but she did approach the problem of social differences from an unusual angle, and got further with it than most people thought she would be able to. And no, I don't think she did it for attention.

Good point about choosing one's enemies rather well so they are at least representative of the main belief system one is against. However, in this case I think Laci was mainly against the tendency of atheists to ridicule and dismiss believers and so she picked the most notorious turd burglar she could find to show how more can be gained by open communication? Was she successful? Not really, but her mistake was interesting & I think she learned from this exercise as well as her viewers.

I agree with you that venomfangx doesn't deserve respect for what he's done. But I think you're being a little hard on Laci. Remember, she is young and idealistic. If she fails to reach out to someone like venomfangx, let her learn her lesson. But I don't think the idea of bridging gaps between creationists and atheists is a bad one in theory. In the exchange of ideas, both sides have to be receptive. If venomfangx doesn't want to reciprocate, that's his problem, not hers.

I think you're being unfair to Laci. Why do you attack someone who chooses to reach out to a lowlife like vfx?
There are different ways to approach an angry dog. One way is to beat it over the head. Another way is to reach out with kindness. The latter may result in getting bitten a few times, but if you ultimately succeed, the change in the dog is permanent.
I doubt Laci will succeed, but at least give her a chance by not attacking her methodology.

If an impartial judge decided that debate, he won hands down. A debate is not about who is right, its about who represents their argument in a more convincing manor. from what ive seen so far (im still new to watching atheist v. christian vids) atheists and christians do attack each other's character constantly, to the point where the message is lost, i think that laci was trying to have a debate on the issues themselves, trying to stay away from personal attacks (so much for that) and i think that she chose VFX for his visibility to the YT community, therefore giving a positive debate that people could enjoy, it failed, but was a good try on her part

To be fair, Laci specifically said Sean's conviction and guts is admirable, not that he is admirable in any other respect.
Laci tried something new. At least I have not seen anybody try to pull VFX to a discussion with that much honey. You may say it failed but it showed us, in case we didn't know, the depth of Sean's social incompetence or his unwillingness to be friends with people, as well as once again pointing out he can dodge any question by merely stating that someone is a tool of satan.

Good Call. I saw this bird for what she was one whole year ago and I tried to sort her out...she won't be returning to reality anytime soon now though. If I had to guess i'd say nobody in her real life keeps her grounded either.

I think now that her attempt at discourse with VFX is trying to mirror what Coughlan achieved with Big Jerre. Perhaps it is misguided, but I didn't think she could be so naive as to expect VFX to debate with her.

No one misrepresents Atheism, because it's a philosophical stance on the existence of "god(s)". She said once in a video that it is a philosophy. I have to disagree. When you start to add other things to it, then it's no longer Atheism, it's something else. When you try to subject others to your moral standards then you're not much better than a fundamentalist. I hate to say it. I understand what she means by being respectable in discourse.

Laci's head is perfectly spherical. I could never focus on what she says because of that head (and boobs). It creeps me out.

I don't know. I see what you mean, I think she was foolish to reach out to PCS and I do hope that Laci will back off now that she's seen what a toad PCS is, but I still think there's a lot to admire about her. I just think she's young, a little naive and has made few misteps. Hopefully she'll get back on track soon. Luckily PCS is so good at fucking every chance to be a good guy that he gets.

I think she might have been trying to set herself apart from common opinion, but I hope Laci goes back to the way she was. She doesn't speak for an atheist community, and many atheists probably resent that label.

I don't mind being part of some nebulous community, since after all we do all tend to act together, but I don't think we need a figurehead of any kind. Also "atheist community" doesn't fit. Don Exodus2 is Christian, Jordanowen's Satanist and I'm a Neo-Pagan, but we're all on the same side.
