I'm not a huge fan of nerf guns but I think that part of this isn't really required.

The part where you snip of the rails of the orange objects probably isnt a good idea. Those hold the nerf dart in place so doing that will cost you some of your accuracy.

I'm not entirely sure of this since I don't use nerf guns anymore...Only here out of boredom. Are you sure removing those are required?

those orange things are all air restrictors if u cut out the middle but still leave a little along the edge the nerf bullet will still stay in and not fall through and u will have even more power and air flow

FoxFlame625 is spot on with his/her comment about the "spring beneath the plug on the back end" -- this is a critical aspect when reassembling the Maverick. Beware: This spring is easily lost when forcing the plug from the cylinder. So, my suggestion would be to 1) Scotch tape the over the end cap to the sides of the gray piece on the opposite end you're working off, 2) put then entire assembly in a large kitchen garbage bag, so when the spring flys off, you can easily find the piece in the bag

@inbredpig Oh wow, I found out what I did wrong. At the end closest to the cylinder of the cocking mechanism, I didn't put that oval thing right up to the cylinder, which didn't let the air go through the cylinder. My bad, I take that back, this was a pretty cool mod.

Thanks for posting. 2 comments: 1 - I don't see the small compression spring that's along the barrel axis--did you remove it? 2 - You can also increase the force on the large compression spring above the trigger a bit by increasing its compression--3 pennies against the back end of it works swell!

if you had trouble with the gun go to (SuperGohank3's) channel and look at {How To Fix Nerf Maverick (Mod/Hack)} the problem i had was the plunger wasn't sitting in the right place. the mod works im getting an extra 10 to 15 feet on it. THUMBS UP SO EVERYONE CAN SEE THIS :)

He forgot to add that, on the center rod, there is a spring beneath the plug on the back end (by the larger grey piece). If you lose this spring you wont be able to pull out the barrel of the gun to load it properly. I tragically figured this out the hard way.

For people who this didn't work for I have worked out that the compression chamber has a little enlargement near the barrel that needs to hook over the piece of plastic close to the barrel. I did that after it didn't work the first time and now it works perfectly.
