I have always been a baby sitter when operating a fork-very careful-slow-never drop a load or hit a structure,and watch all ground surfaces.

I also got yelled at for being extra careful-but we worked in a gas plant-so if you hit something,it would either blow up or gas you with hydrogen sulphide.

Scary ! I am glad I drive SLOW !

@woodnsteel19 I worked in a place where they ranked order picker operators by speed, and posted the results on a big board.

They had constant collisions, rack damage, nobody picked up their trash, and mispicks were off the charts.

They did the same thing for packers. The really high scorers accomplished it by using no packing material at all...just threw the stuff in a box, be it glass, liquids, or whatever.

They just couldn't figure out why they had so much shipping damage.

Its sad that I have seen a dumb people put forklifts on their sides and of course the operators walk away without any scratches. I have seen several times crane operators put cranes on their side also ( I'm a vendor for numerous scrap metal companies)

There's always a guard rail on top of the lift, but in this case I don't think it would have helped.
