the doctor, yu, had the "arm of the firebeast" which he was not skilled enough to control often causing him much spasms so he decided to amputate it and donate it to cloud. thus cloud not only got an arm back, but also an additional power to go with it.

I saw a dubbed version on cassette, didn't have a lot of deleted scenes like this one. The guy who found him cut his arm and gave it to cloud, since the guy who found him's arm is rejecting the owner. So he cut it and gave it to cloud

After the last part, I dont think Charity is a slut cuz if I think back logically a slut sleep with everyone but she didnt even flirt with Frost? Also, Cloud and Wind both wouldnt have loved her (I dont think their judgment is that bad). The abilities that he learned from Lord Conquer requires water in order for it to be powerful. By luring Cloud into the cave, he can overwhelm his abilities because his Cloud Palm Stance is pretty much useless without water.

So, by ripping his injured arm off, he can use some of the blood to fend off the Lord and escape. An arm for his life... a fair trade I guess. Keep watching, it's actually a good thing that he lost his arm. ^___^
