I hated this one I am sick of Xmas been spoken of all the time in evey Christmas special how many of you believe in Jesus one or two many be I think that religon and religious holidays should not be in any sci-fi programmes unless its done like stargate sg1

Well done on the 6,000 subscribers! This epsiode is my favourite Christmas special as well! My second favourite is the one with the master (even though it was sad at the end when the doctor regenerated) David Tennant was my favourite Doctor closely followed by Matt Smith. The majority of the previous xmas specials are too much of one of them.I'm glad that it was mainly the Doctor,coz the companions get their time during the series. so the xmas specials are the doctor's time to stand out.

I agree that it was a very good meld of Dr. Who, Xmas, and Moffat. The set reminded me a lot of Dr. Suess's Grinch. It is my favorite xmas special.

Congrats on 6000 mark! I hit the 1000 mark in December :-) I was bored for about 15 mins of Dr. who, got interested in it when Matt Smith says "A Christmas Carol" - I felt like Smith must have been in his element acting opposite Michael Gambon. Smith is very talented, I saw him live in the west end before he was announced as the Dr. - He was in Swimming With Sharks. Brilliant.

Story itself, I liked it but I have to say from a time point of view that it was really naughty. The dr deliberately changing the future to suit his own needs. Not that disimilar from the meddling monk. Ok the doctor does influence time wherever he goes, but he generally becomes a part of time rather than changing it.

Trailer first - interesting to see the tardis from the lodger make a reapearance. Is there a new race out there using gallifreyan technology? Who knows. Ood's with green eyes is a bit different. Other than that I agree that it wasn't an overly exciting trailer.

well, i have to disagree. I hated this special. i do think that doctor who needs a break from the monsters and events, but it wasn't the time, we are in the middle of the plot with the silence! They are just giving the show a break at the wrong time!

I really like the episode. The fish in the sky was cool to me, that shark was scary for a minute. I think the fish made it sort of fun. I think this episode had really clever writing. I liked it all a lot.

I feel like there are three realities with his life. First is the one we saw at the beginning, with no visits from the Doctor. The second one is him growing up with the Doctor, at the end merging with the first one. The last is when he sees his future... I don't think he'll get any visits... I think that he might let everyone out of their boxes when he's in charge, probably letting out Abigail when they're the same age or something.

I love this episode! The only little confusing thing was when the Doctor had to take the little boy home at the end. What happens to his life? Does he just get visited by the Doctor each year? Since he knows what happens in his future, he won't need convincing to help out that ship when he gets older, so the Doctor wouldn't need to visit him in his past... then what happens with Abigail? When does he let her out?

I completely agree that it was the perfect balance between Dicken's classic tale and The Doctor's world.

Just enough originality to keep it interesting.

Perhaps the shark was a bit silly, but it's not quite a Doctor Who story if they're not running from something! So the shark allows for that.

It was broadcast here in Australia just over 12 hours after the uk broadcast.

I really enjoyed it, it was a fun Christmas special. The "The Christmas Invasion" and "The Runaway Bride" are still my fav Christmas special. This one is probable my third fav. I really liked the idea of the flying fish and shark.

I didn't understand it to be honest. It started really well but they just lost me with the fish and the sharks. It wasn't great in my mind. Michael Gambon was good though!

I liked the Christmas episode. It was really odd to watch, it wasn't like watching Doctor Who, but I liked it. Although I wouldn't like the future episodes to be in that kind of format, for one episode it was great.

Great review. Great episode...you really needed to pay attention. Katherine Jenkins was/is gorgeous. Nice to hear her sing; wonderful. Matt Smith was brilliant. Did they pick Amy's outfit to bring on the sexy? It worked. Great episode, but, IMHO, can't beat the Vincent episode. Loved the Dr Who USA trailer!
