  • The imbecile is braking the law (trespassing) the management ask him not to bring a gun on the property (posted sign) . The cop has the duty to make sure he leaves the property. At lest in this state the cop has to ask the person to leave before he can arrest the imbecile for trespass. No one in his right mind would leave a person that is breaking the law, armed. Not unless the cop is as imbecilic as you are.

  • I guess the test failed... What a dumbass... What are we teaching are children. This guy could be a normal teenager hanging out, dating girls, part time job having fun. But someone put it in his brain to get clobbered, be an idiot, carry a pistol for what. To say that he can. Ok he can now what. When will this immature person really want to test the usage of the firearm. You can't use firearms in prison or Bankruptcy is around the corner when you test the law. Unless you are a lawyer.

  • i love open carry and i support it in all its forms! i open carry here in kentucky. anyone that doesnt like open carry, i would suggest to them "dont do it" but for those of us that do want to i suggest "mind your own business" and no, you seeing doesnt make it your business. contrary to popular belief, the gun on my hip only becomes your business after it's pointed at you.

  • How fast could you get to your weapon if your arm is in a sling? Wow I'm from WI and pro gun but come on???

  • @SgtSchroeder26 anyone that knows anything about gun fighting knows that it being fast with a gun doesnt hurt, but being cool under fire and able to keep your head and hit your target means a lot more. most people cant shoot, and they most likely with miss... giving you time to take careful aim. unless they get lucky. "come on??" you might be pro gun, but i, along with this poster are pro carry. the difference is that we dont believe in self defense only in the confines of ones home.

  • I wonder how the term "building" is defined when its a part of the Mall? I do not know the answer to this one... I wonder if that means the entire building is off limits or only the space leased to the state or political subdivision...?

  • oh ya here is this one too....

Any person who goes armed with a firearm in any building owned or leased by the state or any political subdivision of the state is guilty of a Class A misdemeanor. State or public colleges and universities fall under this one.

UWM leased part of the mall....

  • well the mall has had a "no weapons" policy for over the last 2 years, with it posted at all doors...yes it was there the day this guy went to the mall...oh ya look at the video, he is on public property. look a little harder...public sidewalks, and where he is standing in the video is with in 1000ft, and i do believe his vehicle was NOT parked in the mall lot, which also will include public property. Dont get me wrong by all means carry the firearm, i do.

  • you should have been arrested....state law...cant carry a fire arm with in 1000ft of a school....there is a school in the mall, one across the street, and the police should take your gun while they talk to you, as long as you get it back, and you are not a felon, I would have no problem with the police holding my gun, it is safer for everyone involved.

  • the 1000ft rule is specifically for public property within said distance, since Grand Avenue Mall is a private establishment the 1000 ft rule does not count as long as a person remains on private property. Even if a person has private property bordering a school, a mere 30 feet from a school building, they can lawfully have a firearm anywhere on their property, even if it is only a few yards from the school.

  • Well if you read the whole comment you would see that i also said there is one acroos the street in "public property" and because this is "private property" the mall has a no weapons rule on their private property, so he was still wrong. Now let get into the fact that no matter where he parked his vehicle to get to the mall he was on "public property" with in 1000ft of a school. Thank you come again"

  • Grand Avenue Mall could be surrounded completely by schools on public property, it did not matter as long as he stayed on the private grounds of the mall. The mall did not have a no weapons rule publically posted on their property at the time (they do now) therefore he was not arrested by the responding police officers (because he had done nothing unlawful) ...and he was picked up from the entrance of the mall, avoiding stepping off private property within the 1000ft... what else do you have?

  • Carry the firearm, please do...i do... just dont get mad when the police stop you and take your gun while they talk to you. it is safer for everyone involved. if you have nothing to worry about you will get it back. it is better then them shooting you, when you make the wrong move. and they will.

  • Good for you for carrying your firearm and exposing our freedom with the right to open carry. These cops really need to lay off, I almost feel that they are threatened by it because now they are not the only persons that can carry a firearm. If we all exercise this right we may not need as many police out patrolling.

  • I like the idea of open carry. B U T !!! I also am very concerned what happens when a mistake takes place and the wrong person might be shot accidental.

Wouldnt the person who made the mistake be spending a long time in prison along with a civil suit that will leave that peron with out a zinc penny.

  • In my opinion the best way to avoid accidents with firearms - whether it be open carrying, concealed carrying, hunting or any other form of use is plain and simple = responsibility. Anyone who makes a decision to OC should understand the realities and consequences of using a firearm for self defense.

To consider your question about someone being accidentally injured in the event that a OC'er is defending themselves, would require a discussion with a hypothetical situation.

  • How much are you going to have to prove to the prosecutor that you had N O choice in the matter. Two HD videos and three unrelated witness that 5 people with shotguns were going to kill you.
