Here's the thing: Yes, she was an alcoholic--and that means she IS an alcoholic and she will always be an alcoholic.

One is never "cured" of alcoholism. All one can do is stop drinking. The disease remains.

It is activated when one drinks.

I tell everyone that I will be an alcoholic until the day that I die, but alcohol will not be what kills me. One day at a time. It's been five years. So far, so good.
