Bought this myself, total newbie with it as well and I too came over from iMove and so far... really do think it's pretty neat! Motion appears to be the real fun part at the moment and I'm having a lot of fun with this side!
I love how Apple brought it into the 21 century (made it look like it belongs in OS X, not OS 9). Obviously it's not fully baked, but it passed all of the checks that were necessary to be released, or else we would not have it now.
For all of those people complaining about the price, they just merged three apps in one, and cut hundreds of dollars off of it, so either pay for it, or complain that you aren't a professional willing to pay for a professional piece of software.
Being a professional, the merge of iMovie and FCP is kind of an insult. Thanks for the video though. Is there an option to make the timeline look like the old version? Don't want to see a preview of the video in thumbnails. Looks too much like an iMovie timeline. Maybe different view options? Can you please check? Thanks!
I wish I could comment on the pro features, but right now until I learn more about it I any say what's missing. I'm speaking from the point of view of someone coming from iMovie and so far it's a great update for anyone in a similar situation.
I think Apple released this a little too early, They got pressured into releasing it by the public, it's not done yet. They even said don't worry more things are coming (for the pros, they're the ones complaining ATM)
It's defn'ly good enough for most people though, and has a better learning curve if you're new to the program.
Meh. Has a lot of updates needed for it. You can't log and capture footage. Can't edit multi-clips. Can't import previous products. Feel like I've waited 2 years for an update that doesn't seem to be for professionals. Has a lot of cool superficial features like 64 bit integration, background rendering, but really just seems to be missing a lot of the key features of FCP7. Seems like a consumer-targeted reboot of a software line. Thanks for the vid though. Been watching everything I can today :)
How does the i5 hold up in FCP? It looks good here, but what about more complex projects?

@thesavage042 Awesome i really want to get this now, the old Final cut was more difficult to use than After effects in my opinion : /

@SoccerFootage The old final cut was just so out dated that it made it that much harder to learn, this is def a lot easier to jump right in to.

@thesavage042 Yep, thanks for the quick reply
