  • Yes, good sound and very delacite transcription!

  • My favourite is 997 double and gigue

  • This is very beautiful. I play this piece on the piano, but I could never imagine it would sound so good in a guitar. Perfect arrangement: the music sounds as if it has been composed for the guitar. I think Bach would be surprised and very happy. My sincere congratulations!

  • @abandeli wasn't this piece written for the lute originally?

  • @robertchallen I really don't know. I have this piece in a collection called "Little Preludes and Fuguetas", edited and selected by Giuseppe Buonamici. I've just read the introduction written by Buonamici himself, but he said nothing about the lute. He just says that the collection wishes to prepare the students to play the Well Tempered Clavier, by using some easier pieces first, and also says something about tunes and chronology. The music is beautiful, and not easy to memorize.

  • ah thank for the playing. it helped me understand this tune.

  • my favourite 998

  • Havent sleept in a year, or so its feels. I am slowly sucumbing to my illness. Well, so is life. your music still make me smile. You answered me once on e-mail(via this site ) and for that I am grateful. My world is getting smaller and smaller and ,

well, I have nothing more to say other than, thank you

  • You are one of my brightest stars in the music-sky Per Olov! I love your music really very much. Thanks for bringing this to Youtube.

I know this piece... I love the Fuga that is following this masterpiece. I play it on piano. Did you record that fuga too?

  • Excellent, congratulations Per-Olov.

I am also studing this Bach´music. I will arrive there!

  • interpretation de grande reference, admiration à vous, bravo, guitare sur les sommets

    YOU HAVE UNDERSTOOD JS BACH

  • Thank you so much. I am honored.

    Kind regards,

    Per-Olov

  • per olov , only another guitarist will realize the time and effort you have put in your music. thank you for creating such an eloquent and consistent SOUND. You give wings to one dreams and tears to those who can feel every tone .

Please do not stop playing ,

It is people like you that offer so much for us to enjoy. Ed Mac G F S

  • Thank you for your kind words Ed. I appreciate it.

    Have a great day.

    Per-Olov

  • masterfully done.. very very good. I really like your version of this masterpiece. Listened to it 3 times in a row.

  • Do you have any suggestions on first pieces to learn on classical guitar (and a good classical guitar)? I already own a fender rock guitar, but want to pick up classical guitar.

  • its simply perfect! do you play any other instruments?

  • Wonderful! And a brilliant sound!

What type of strings are you using?

    Greets

    Joris

  • were you sitting on a sona ???

  • Gitano FTW :)

  • Humm.... ze siente mui agradable el sonido... me siento motivado a seguir con mi guitarra :) gracias

  • Very, very sensitively and delicately done. Encore.

  • Wunderbar!

  • Excellent rendering and it sounds so sweet...

  • Hola Per! What a fine and peaceful interpretation! Thankyou!!

  • Excellent' nice effortless fingering, you make it LOOK so easy, but then you are a great classical guitar player. I wish I had 10% of your talent!

  • Thank you. With the right fingerings, it is not that hard to play really. I put a lot of effort in that when I fingered this.

    Kindly,

    Per-Olov

  • @AndanteLargo That is readily apparent, so your hard work really paid off. Kudos.

  • @AndanteLargo That vibrato at 0:10 was enough to convince me that your phrasings are superb.

  • snasent

  • Hi Per-Olov, I admire loads your interpretation!, i'm playing this piece but some people say that the line of the bass should be muted; in the versions i've got willard and koonce both put a silence after two eight-notes.however, I like a larger sound like a pedal on a big church organ; I like how you emphasize the "hide" polifony, I think you can fin 3 voices is it correct to make sometimes larger the eigth-note values? I mean for example, this first line d c# d a c b, make the b a litl larger?

  • Hi there. Thank you. I am happy you appreciate the hidden polyphony in this. In my fingerings (can be found in my web shop) I take great care about the hidden voices. Too often this is heard as only one line of music but actually there are many. If you by 'larger' mean stronger, I agree totally. THAT is the way to play this. (and many of Bach's pieces).

    Good luck!

    Per-Olov

  • Thank you for your answers!, this will help a lot on my interpretation; I've just seen your webpage its amazing I think I'm going to order some of your arrangments, and one of your cd's.

  • I'm learning this piece, and your playing of it is both an example and an inspiriation.

    .

  • Thank YOU for listening.

I am happy if I can inspire you.

    Keep playing.

    Per-Olov

  • Per, what's the guitar rest you are using, is it an Ergo, and are they available in the UK?. Love the recording, but have had to modify your fingering slightly - your hands are a little more mobile than mine!!"

  • Hi there.

I am sorry for the late reply. i use a GITANO. It is very light, inexpensive and easy to use. Mine is always attached to the guitar. Even in the case. i get them from trekel. de in Germany...

    Good luck,

    Per-Olov

  • Please \plkease tell me all the details of your cd so I can buy it . It would certainatly be one I would like very much to add to my collection.

    Love NIcola xxxx

  • There is no more a beautiful instrument than the guitar and no more exquisit music than that of Johann Sebastian Bach. and again no more heavenly than finding one such as you who can marry the two together so perfectly that to listen to it is like hearing the angels sing. Thank you for this it is truley wonderful. MY love to you and my thanks to your gift,Nicola XXX

  • Thank you Nicola! i am honored and happy for your kind words. I love BAch (and the guitar) and I am happy it shows in my playing. Please keep listening to me.

    Per-Olov

BTW. I am just recording this to my next CD. I hope you will listen to me also there.

    All the best.

    Kindly,

    Per-olov

  • the first 2 seconds sounds like fur elise :D

  • what is "BMV" stands for? it appears to be in most of Bach's songs

  • @faridzayish

BWV=Bach Werke Verzeichnis, it is the way Bachs compositions are identified

  • VERY , NICE!!!

  • A true joy and satisfaction to see and hear such marvelous perfomance, full of emotions and energy!

    God bless you, Per-Olov

    A big fan from Brasil!

    Glauco

  • very beautiful amost as if angels came and played the classic guitar for everyonr to hear. i would love to hear you play over the hills and far away by led zepplin please

  • I used to play guitar and loved playing this piece as it really shows Bach's genius and it is not too difficult technically - thanks for sharing the video :)

Oh and I forgot - you play the piece wonderfully :)

  • so beautiful ! l love this play.

  • I was looking for the best version of this piece on youtube, no wonder it's yours :) love love love it, I think I contributed a lot of views to this video..

  • Dear Liran. How nice of you to visit my old videos and listen to me. Are you planning to play this Prelude.

    Happy Weekend!

    Per-Olov

  • @AndanteLargo I learned it a few years ago, forgot with the time, now i'm learning it again :) and always when i'm bored i'm looking in your old videos!

  • I have never heard it at this temp. I prefer it like this. I think most players try to rush through it to show virtuosity. Thanks Per for a brilliant interpretation.

  • Thank you! I am honored you listen to me.

    Kindly,

    Per-Olov

  • wow pero que excelentisima interpretación!! recien empiezo a tocar guitarra y precisamente tengo una guitarra clasica, espero poder tocar asi de bien =)

  • Simply beautiful to listen to.

  • Normally cannot be bothered to sign in and comment but when I hear ravishing playing like that..wow, just have to!!! Sensational tone, feel and dreaminess. A truly masterful interpretation of a piece which sounds dull normally unless its played like this and the musical genius of Bach is revealed.

  • Love your play very much.

Your speed of playing is truly nice.

There are many people who play it fast.

Although I have been practicng this these days, I would like to be able to play like you.

  • here six months already enjoy your music. When gloomy at heart - you are a healer. No one else - no matter how strange. It certainly is not in the technique of execution, when I listen to you - the soul becomes naked and clearly. Maybe we'll meet someday, I believe in divine providence. However, we have a number. Thank you

  • What a beautiful song this is!

I've also listened "Sakura" you played, you have very clear sound and great technique. I also play the classical guitar, so I deeply respect you!!

  • What a splendid performance. Just beautiful!

And that recorded tone is so natural, full yet clear> What environment were you in? How big is that room? Just gorgeous tone you are producing throughout!

  • Could you tell me your tuning please?

  • Sorry, mea stupido!!

  • just been to your online store to download this, but the preview dots for 998 aren't the same. Am I looking at the right piece?

  • This is amazing!!!!!!! What an amazing guitarist!!!!!!!!!

  • what does per olov mean? what language?

  • It is my first name... I am Swedish. Sorry :-)

    Per-Olov

  • @AndanteLargo dont apologize! awesome playing!

  • I like your fingerings a lot, some of them are the same that I use but quite a few, really add something to the piece... I use the Koonce Solo Lute Works book!

  • Thank you! I am happy you like my fingerings. Do you have my edition?

    Per-Olov

  • great execution :)

  • Thank you! Appreciated!

    Kindly,

    Per-Olov

  • Hello sir, May you tell me your brand of guitar? thanks you much :)

  • your playing is so fluent and smooth. its great man. this is one of my favorite songs for the lute. another one is Bwv 999.

  • So relaxed played. Goes straight into my favorites. Thanks for all your beautifull uploads. I consider them as little tressures on here.

  • Thank you so much. I am honored.

    Please keep listening.

    Per-Olov

  • @AndanteLargo You look so happy when playing, havent talk to you but just by seeing you I know you are a great guy, love the playing.

  • :-) Thank you. I AM happy when I play! I am glad you can see/hear that. :-)

I try to be a nice guy too but I am not always successful :-)

    Please keep listening to me.

    Per-Olov

  • Absolutely beautiful. Thanks for sharing that.

  • Thanks for listening Steve.

    Per-Olov

  • what tuning are you in is it drop D?

  • Hi. Yes, it is in drop D tuning.

    Kindly,

    Per-Olov

  • tocas tocas con un gran sentimiento, eres un gran guitarrista, llevo años escuchando Bach y creo que eres el mejor interprete que hay

    saludos desde Mexico

  • Gorgeous technique.

  • beautiful and great playing!!! divine Bach...

  • This piece is relentlessly beautiful . . . and you nailed it beautifully.

  • beautifully played, i think Bach is one of the greatest achievements of western civilisation, the most complete and masterful ingenius composer there ever was..

  • Dear Per-olov,

after I've been watching your videos for years I finally want to say THANK YOU for all your very musically played and very good sounding videos. I often recommend to my students your videos so they have a hearing example at home which is available all the time.

Especially how you played this Prelude is....there are no words!

I am looking forward to listen to your next videos.

    Greetings from Berlin, Holger

  • Excepcional interpretacion y sonido, conmueves hasta las piedras!!

  • I would really to see and hear you live from any way, too bad i live in quebec...:(

  • reverb

  • I can see how much you love JS Bach, what a wonderful interpretation, I keep watching and listening to your playing, I am also a JS Bach lover, cheers my friend, well done!!!

  • La toma de sonido es muy buena, me gustaria saber con que equipos se ha grabado... el color de la grabacion es fantastico. La interpretación es romántica pero muy disfrutable.

  • at some point ,it sounds a lil bit like FUR ELISE Bethoven :p

  • Your tambre and taste in music seem to have an uncanny resemblance to my own... at least from the videos I've seen here on YouTube. If I were to write a movie about this, it would have to be a marriage of 'O brother where art thou' and 'Twins'.... Yep! You got all the talent, and I got the DeVito's....LOL... ;-) CUL (soul) brother...

  • It's great to hear someone who doesn't rush through the piece as if they are holding on to the tail of a galloping horse.

The musicality is so much more tangible. You've got a great musical sense about you as well as the obvious technical ability on your instrument. I enjoy your playing every bit as much as that of John Williams and Julian Bream.

  • Hi there1 Thank you so mush. I am honored by your kind words.I too think this shouldn't be rushed. So beautiful music...

    Kindly,

    Per-Olov

  • @smrndoff

It´s great to hear someone who "don´t applause" that kind of hurry

players ... Kindgren´s conception is the same I look for when I play this piece

on harpsichord (or piano)...His version is sensible and crystal clear...

  • The most wonderful 998 Prelude I've heard today. Actually for a long time.. Actually even seen on YouTube:)

  • :-) WOW. Thanks a lot! I am really happy you like my version. It is a beautiful piece. It is hard to ruin.... :-)

    Per-Olov

  • the sound is so clear, its like you had angel fingers :D

  • Thanks a lot! I am honored.

    Per-olov

  • Are you sure you aren't from the loins of Andres Segovia... ;) I'm sure the old master would smile down upon you.

Best Regards and keep up the good work...

  • :-) I am sure...but thanks a lot!

    Appreciated.

    Per-Olov

  • Thank you. I play a Philippe Jean-Mairet from Switzerland. I now play a Per Hallgren instead. Please have a look at my web site

    per-olovkindgren. com

  • Is not the quality of the guitar, is the quality of the person who play it!!!!!!.Superb

  • :-) Thank you.

    Kind regards,

    Per-Olov

  • i love your videos

  • Very good free stroke, very Bach!!

  • =) beatifull, you are amazing

  • Sir you only use reverb right?

  • HI there great music.Would you recomend i buy a metromone because i have just started out on classical guitar.

  • @rastan1977 YES.

  • @rastan1977

Lol don't be silly, metronomes aint gonna do any good to someone that's trying to learn a piece unless you can already play it!

Im glad you just started out! please post videos of how you are progressing! :D

(side note! I used a metronome for my silent hill video, which is why it appears to have godly timing!) other than that I have never used it! In my opinion it is only a "must" if you have other isntruments to keep up to!

    Dont bother!

Or just download it for free off legits

  • Per, you are excellent! Thanks for uploading these wonderful & soothing videos!

  • I play the regular guitar. I totally underestimated the sheer difficulty of this peice! I looked up the tabs and it took me so long to even get some parts right. I have to say.. to get a sound like what you are producing takes some serious skills. Its so relaxing and sublime. Keep it up and play with your soul!

  • 3:29 "All Lefts Reversed"?? LOL,anyway,i really loved this version,i also play it with the fugue.

  • This Is One Of The Best Versions Of J.S. Bach's B.W.V. 998 "Prelude" That I've Heard In YouTube,... Congrats Mr. Largo! Another Excellent Performance!

  • Sir, the more and more I listen to this piece it transforms into an entity that is hauntingly familiar yet unknown. I will gladly purchase this from you.

  • Just superb. Thanks for sharing with us.

  • wen u say u have website do u have tabs there???

  • nice one

  • Very beautiful! I'm not yet brave enough to post my Bach lol maybe at the end of the year ;)

Your playing is so fluid and musical! I love it, and the fingering worked great!

    Best wishes,

    - Michael -

  • Love your recordings. What do you use to mic, record? Studio quality. Other players great but if sound is not there I bail.

  • Beautiful playing - just one thing though, it sounds as though you're you applying reverb. Am I right? I wonder why. With all that wood, it looks as though you'd have a wonderful natural acoustic. I'd love to hear it.

  • Thank you. Can't stop listening.

  • Very, very nice. Well done sir.

  • can you play BMW 1006 ? btw , very beautiful video . Cheers

  • beautifully executed my friend, flowing, delicate and sweet all at once. I only wish that I could play like you.

  • you're such a great classical guitarist.... I'm also a classical guitarist, and it's my dream to be like you someday,. you're interpretations are great.. :)

  • I may perform this piece for my next jury. I always use your pieces for my standard.

  • Wonderful Per, you interpret Bach so well and when you do I turn to my spirit to thank God and workship Him for having you around to make me turn to Him. Thanks

  • Great interpretation Per!

Was that a seventh chord at 2:40?

  • Nice what guitar and strings do you use?

  • Hey Andante I love your playing and ive been really startin to get into classical. i play alot of modern music which has alternate tuning and was just wondering if everything u play is in standard or alternate tuning. thanks :)

  • Love the way you keep it constantly flowing; very lovely playing

    Amy

  • la practica hace al maestro........en cada interepretacion estan reunidas miles de horas de practica, .....felicidades desde venezuela

    Daniel

  • say... that headstock looks odd. is it only me or is it sort of "rounded"? if yes then i want to know everything about it! :D Beautiful playing btw.

  • Thank you!!

    Per

  • Absolutely amazing!

    I love listening to you.

  • Thank you! I am happy you listen to my Bach. Please keep listening.

    Kindly,

    Per-Olov

  • Re: Per-Olav Kindgren's music - Oh my. Your music puts me in paradise. Thank you so much. From: Elizabeth Allen - Southern Pines, North Carolina, USA

  • Thank you so much. Your playing puts me in paradise no matter where I may be.

Elizabeth Allen - Southern PInes, North Carolina, USA

  • Dear Elizabeth,

Thank you for your kind comment(s). I am honored.

    Kindly,

    Per-Olov

  • Hi AndanteLargo! I love your videos just watching it for an hour.

For how many years are you playing?

  • Hi Roland. 1 hour!! WOW. Thanks.

I have been playing all my life. Not the first 7 years though...:)

    Kindly,

    Per-Olov

  • muito bom claro e nitido!!!

  • So let me ask you, you have a video which you play a Ramirez A1 1989, how can you compare the sounds from the rest of your other guitars, please be sincere and honest on your response.

    Marcelo Jose Ramirez

  • Hola! Que tal?

Thank you for your question. I prefer this Swiss guitar 100%. The Ramirez is very heavy and 'big'. I never use it anymore. This is perfect for Bach. I sometimes use Ramirez for more 'Spanish' pieces....

    Per-Olov

  • I'm learning it now, great piece, the part from 10 to 14, theses 4 measures are, i think the more difficult tu play on the piece (for me). The finger rythm is like 'breaked'.

    Greats from Belgium.

  • Eu amo de paixão faz bem a cabeça!

  • You're playing is an inspiration, truly!

  • excellent

  • Dear Per, what brand strings do you use? Respects.

  • Hi. As stated on my channel, I use d'addario EJ46.

  • It's a good piece. Very well played.

I think it would sound a lot better without being so drenched in reverb, though.

Just the honest beauty of the piece, well played, is enough.

All that reverb is like pouring sugar on a nice clean apple.

    Good work.

    .

  • Great :)

  • So flawless and fluid ! Love the acoustics too !

  • Ah such a sound! I wonder, do you ever play on lute?

  • Thanks for this excellent performance. I 've been listening...and watching your music for a few years now and it looks flawless and of a very high standard. But I wonder, are there any weak points in your abillities to playing the guitar? Are there any technical things you still need to work on...or other things you are not satisfied about?

  • @Za7a7aZ There always is. When listener heards note perfect music, with great texture using and phrasing he might think like that. However when you ask that from the performer they mostly answer like: "Yeah it was overall pretty good one, but in this place this note was not bright enough and etc..." I think when you are fully satisfied with the piece you are playing, you are not enough educated. However in this case there is not better version, only different.

  • @Aul1kki Did I miss something....or do you have a new YT account name?

  • @Za7a7aZ Well now when u said it... It might look like that I'm the performer of this piece, which is not the case. Or maybe you didn't even thought it that way. I meant it how it commonly works mostly. Kinda tricky when this is not my motherlanguage.

  • That's quite lovely. Beautifully played. Thanks for sharing.
