@juztiMer Depends which cgi people are talking about. When you have a movie like Pirates, they're bound to spend hours upon hours making the details look as realistic as possible. Most movies with cgi though tend to look rushed and far too clean to look real.

Either way, cgi just isn't a patch on real models

That Gary, why did he shot that Norwegian reasearcher right a way? Ok, he shot somebody in the leg, but that wasn't on purpose. Why did the dog run so far to them? To Gary maybe, or Clark? Still, it's a great story! Simple, on almost 1 location, nothing to high tech, and no CGI, no software effects, but all handmade creatures and makeup for the actors, which i love a lot more than that CGI, or bad CGI! Todays films go to far in that, it's over the top, and ruins a movie. Old school all the way!!

@Kaleman69 its cause all these movie directors have more money than brains like look at that film 300 so much special effects it nearly makes you sick no good battle scenes just all over the top sepcial effects i even remember there was a guy with a goat head as a head lmao thats historically accurate isnt it hahaha not far fetched at all :-P sure they meant to be making a remake of this and i bet you it will be awful they shouldnt fuck about with classic films >:(

Have you forgotten that this movie was a remake of a 1951 movie but a more faithful re-adaptation of the novel "Who Goes There" by John Campbell? ever seen the 1951 movie? a poor adaptation due to limited technology in the 50's when the 80's had better technology for special effects and finally made the monster a shapeshifter instead of a cheesy carrot vampire alien
