If a german vet or japanese vet writes a book the masses aren't going to know let alone care. ...plus, with American G.I.'s being better equipped/supplied than German soldiers due to America's vastly superior industrial capacity, this would tend to accentuate the numerical advantage in troops America had vs Nazi Germany. Add in the round the clock Allied bombing of Nazi Germany industry and this situation became impossible for Nazi Germany to contend with. They were short of everything they needed all throughout WWII, guns, ammo, tanks, planes, fuel, food, boots, troop transports, etc.

The standard issue rifle of the German infantryman was the WWI Kar98 bolt action rifle, whereas the standard issue rifle for the American G.I. was the semi-automatic M1 Garand rifle, that could fire a storm of bullets as fast as the trigger could be pulled. This mean that 100 American G.I.'s had the firepower equivalent of 800 German soldiers.

They also didn't develop the atomic bomb before America did. The standard issue rifle to the troops of Nazi Germany was a WWI technology bolt action rifle, while the standard issue rifle for American troops was the semi-automatic M1 Garand which could fire 8 shots as fast as the soldier could pull the trigger, which was a HUGE technological advantage
