  • Great playing Mickey.....Do you happen to have the tabs for Steel Guitar Rag in E9 tuning?

  • What a gift from God! Impressive :) !

  • That goofy little 2-bar slide has eluded me for years. Thanks brother.

  • I love the sound you are getting. What's your set up?

  • Im a melodic death metal guitarist and this blows my mind. I look at this guy with envy, he knows his way around strings SO much better than i do. This is the coolest instrument ive ever seen and i dont even listen to country. Hell yea Pedal Steel FTW.

  • Where can I get a decent pedal steel? I am going to start playing after seeing this video. I play slide guitar and have messed around with lap steel. I just never knew where to get a GOOD pedal steel. Thanks - this video may change the whole way I play.

  • AWESOME

  • i love the new riders, the best record they put out was the one with that song called lay down baby take a red. i forget the name of the album but it kicked ass if anybody knows the album im talking about let me know lol. peace

  • Wow, I didn't know how those country bands did those sounds, now I know WOW that's really cool

  • Awesome video, thanks so much for showing how to play this, I always figured pedal was a bitch to learn, been playing for 48 yrs electric mostly, but always loved Nrps and grateful dead songs with pedal in it......thanks graybeard

  • thanks for sharing.. ive played guitar for a while.. but i really want to get a steel. on e-bay you can find some pretty buys..watching your videos makes me just say fuckit and buy one and start playin... such a great sound

  • I wish I could play like this

  • Bab..You can...You may, need a little guidance and exercise, thats all...

  • I understand it may not be to taste, but have you ever seen someone run a pedal steel through a distortion pedal? thanks, and great playing!

  • Yes, I use one in my stage rig for modern country...

  • If by "sloppy" you mean absolutely kick ass, then I agree.

  • oh man, just seeing how you don't move your slide but all those notes are changing makes it obvious how hard the pedal steel is to play. So much foot and knee action involved. I wish I would have gotten into pedal steel as a kid. They say it's a dying art because of the difficulty level. But it will always be popular so those few that are good are gonna have gigs up the wazoo.

  • Mickey I love all your stuff its comin easier however youre backwards on the screen so it takes time to figure out, when you move a lever to your left its on my right,

I'm NOT being critical- if the camera was from the back it would be a lot easier to follow along. maybe I could use a mirror upside down. Thanx for your time on what you do.

    dave

  • reminds me of gram parsons in a way

  • Sloppy? Damn i thought it was pretty good...!

  • Awesome. I love the song "Panama Red." The first time I heard of it, was after I had gotten into Bluegrass (and later learned that GD's Jerry Garcia got together w/ some other guys and formed "Old and in the way.") This was one of their favorite songs to do and actually got me listening to Grateful Dead music (kinda the opposite way that some people got into bluegrass in the 60's I guess). I've never heard it on the pedal steel though. Its great!

  • i wish i had a pedal steel guitar

  • I can always tell when something moves me,

    tears cometomy eyes. WOW!

  • wow, you've really got a great sound! thanks for posting this

  • Tronmoog....Did you know that the CEO of "Moog"...and I share the same name...and hes married to my high-school sweetheart...Thats the truth..Michael Adams...LOL

  • Corporate...Citation driver

  • great sounding steel - are you a private pilot?

  • Hey thanks so much! Just getting started on E9 and this is a big help. Appreciate your generosity.

  • Oh I love this beautiful steel guitar!

  • Urban Cowboy, ruined my country swing dancing career. Everybody thought they could dance and fight- Mickey I bet you could should us a beginning chicken pickin exercise- how about it- thanks Bob.

  • You are a phenomenal guitar player. More Garcia stuff please! The Wheel? Keep up the great work!

  • I met Buddy Cage years ago; I wish I had known he was on the original Blood On The Tracks when I met him. I asked him if he ever worked with Neil Young and he said "no."

  • the only good thing about this stupid song is the steel on it.Thanks! I had the panama red from the lp in 1973.

  • Thanks for posting these helpful and fun video's. This one is a nice one

  • Hey ZB....thanks for the post...Mickey.....I still have the D12, I just reposted it today...Mickey

  • You are wonderful! You make it look so easy! Thank you so much!!

  • Thanks Mick,

Sometimes it's a little hard to hear (or see) what strings & pedals you're using.

  • hi mickey thanks for your reply.perhaps you have complete studievideo for me.

of course i will pay the costs because i want to learn my zumsteel as good as possible.i am 59 years old but that must not be a reason to learn on this marvelous instrument.

    thanks in advance

    arnold kamphuis

  • Ah man, Buddy Cage is one of my all time favorites. I always wanted to learn to play this lick, but it's hard to just pick stuff up on pedal steel like you can on guitar. So cool that you're showing everyone how!

  • hi Mickey

this is arnold from the netherlands and I love your exercises for the beginning pedalsteeller (like me )

i hope to see and hear a lot from you.

  • Thank you very much Arnold, your support is greatly appreciated...Mickey
