I am so sorry that this happened. I have always found his attitude towards animals to be obnoxious and harassing. It is interesting to find out that he cared so much for them because the few times I watched him, he seemed to be annoying the heck out of animals. However, it appears that I was totally wrong about him and for that I am sorry. I feel badly for his family. Life needs drama to bring meaning to otherwise boring day to day existence. RIP, Steve. Even in death you educated people.
I've watched his and his wife's show over the years. I've seen him cry over animals. He definitely wasn't mean to them. I recall him crying over his own dog dying...and this little baby elephant that they just couldn't help to save. It was devastating to him. May he rest in peace. He'll be sadly missed.

To a great man who inspired and touched the hearts of everyone who saw him. He cared so much and was so passionate about his work. My heart goes out to his wife and his children, as well as his friends and collegeus that worked so close with him at Australia zoo. Your spirit lives on in the hope that one day, there will be no need for conservation anymore as the world will be in harmony.

The sad part is that his death was 1 in a million! Only 17 people world wide have ever been killed by a stingray! What a rip off for him to die that way!

he didnt fucking risk his life for celebrity status u piece of un respectful shite, he liked conserving the planet and loved animals and he dedicated his life to it, he didnt sit down and do nuffin when he wasnt filming you know, the celebrity status was just a by product of his great charisma and love for what he done

It doesn't matter how Steve died, whether he put his life in danger and the fact that his children are fatherless, the man is dead and respect should be shown. He died doing what he loved - a thing most people will never achieve. The world needs more people like Steve and less cynical and bitter people (mentioning no names)

At first I laughed when my mom told me because I thought she was joking, but now I feel really bad for him. I thought, 'As if HE'D die from a stingray!' but I was shocked when I found out he really was dead.
