i saw the first trailer for Skyrim, The Elder Scrolls 5, and i knew i had to play the other elder scrolls to catch up. I played The Elder Scrolls 1: Arena. The Elder Scrolls 2: Daggerfall. The Elder Scrolls 3: Morrowind. The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion. And I can't get enough, at first I played so i could try Skyrim, now im scared that Skyrim wont live up to the other Elder Scrolls Games, im getting the morrowind extentions, and already completed all of oblivions, Skyrim beta not dissapoint!

Think about it, ESV: Skyrim has new battle systems, hella epic graphics, and above all else, dragons! Compare Morrowind to Oblivion, and you can immediately see the obvious distinctions in graphics and the battle system between the two. Now, take Oblivion and compare it to Skyrim. Better graphics, again. It takes time to get these things done, mainly because of how in depth of a story it has. Therefore, that's why they set the expected date to be Veteran's Day, 2011 (Ironically, vets of ES rule)

i think the reason it takes so long to make the games is because there is so much to do in the game. they have to make the world respond to your actions etc. so i can understand why skyrim is taking so long

And SKyrim takes place 200 years after Oblivion

So basically, Skyrim is about 160 years after the Novel

@IrishGameNerd In oblivion there's a quest to steal an Elder Scroll. They are parchments of great prophetic power locked up inside the imperial city and under heavy guard. If you want to see one, do the Thieves Guild Quest to the end.

They are an abstract concept, sort, for example the grey fox uses it to remove the curse, but they are previously not shown as being able to do this. Very powerful artifacts, that when read and interpreted u slowly go blind. Also, any event in a scroll that has happened cannot be changed, by magic or otherwise, so u can't stab the parchement it would survive.
