@franktastikar now of course, such a human that would be able to actually achieve such a state has been proven, and as far as it is known to me, to be 100% impossible to all mortals for all of our history, so of course such an energy has never been actually to be proven 100%. but hey, this is just one man's theory. as is the big bang. we were never there, we honestly dont know. I might be correct, I might be wrong. but at least it makes me open minded and caring to all possibilities in this life
@franktastikar now you're probably going to say that this 'soul energy' I proposed is nonsense because our emotions and so on are easily explainable by studying the brain. but it goes much deeper than that of emotions.maybe even farther than a sub-conscience level... I don't know. honestly, this 'soul energy' if even real, would prove many things once though fiction, to be real. ghosts, magic, miracles, etc. one would just need to learn how to control it and BAM! they can manipulate the universe
@franktastikar mazdaspeedmx512lbs never said anything about god. you're just assuming he is defending him/her/it. anyways, MIR's honestly can't detect them with physical matter. it's based off of energy. now, whether or not this is energy is purely biologically based (I doubt it) is debatable, but one thing it does prove, is the existence of the soul as energy. energy is neither created nor destroyed, only transformed. so birth and death actually don't exist (energy wise). God is proven possible
ok, well let me make a new umm, comparison. Suppose there are intelligent lifeforms elsewhere in this universe. If they got word about us, humanity, and all the stupid stuff it does, I think they would consider the possibility of our existence to be so utterly unlikely as to be practically impossible.
I guess your spirit of pride does not exist because it is non physical. But yet your spirit of pride does exists. Envy is non physical does that mean envy does not exist? Spirit is more real than physical. Heaven & hell begin here & now. You can be heaven to others or hell to others.
@mazdaspeedmx512lbs sorry but feeling and emotions can be seen in the brain with a MIR and proving that they are a chemical reaction in the brain. and do not prov God is!
I'm afraid to say that I think people are missing the point. Something that cannot be seen, felt, understood, or affect us in any way (outside of the totally random, which would happen with or without it) is at an equal with something that doesn't exist. Simply because the causes and effects are the same.
dude a fire breathing dragon is a bad example...i understand your using it as a metaphor....but its like using santa clause...santa obviously doesn't exist......You just haven't had a paranormal experience....a dream is a dream, a hallucination is a hallucination....this is something far more powerful than the afformentioned.....i understand your need to argue...but i just wish you would experience something for yourself
Not my argument. It's Carl Sagan's. And I think it applies.
In the story, the dragon believer could easily say "I just wish you would experience a dragon in your garage!". I don't mean it as mocking, but I don't see how it's any different.
but the dragon is the same as santa...even a kid could figure out that its bogus lol.....for instance...entanglement is starting to be proven through quantum physics....look up stuff on psychic phenomena pertaining to random number generators.....you can't just discard something because its not in a text book so to speak
not true at all....its not always perfect i'll admit but what science experiment is? No science is based on fact..its all theory......also check out the water crystal experiment done by Dr. Masaru Emoto
You're misunderstanding the words 'fact' and 'theory'. Theory doesn't mean 'anything I come up with'. A theory is the highest kind of knowledge we can scientifically have. Every theory is made up of facts.
Show me an experiment about metaphysics that has a positive conclusion and I'll take your claims seriously.
facts aren't even facts...they are still theory...because there is no way way of knowing 100 percent if anything is fact...there is actually no such thing as 100 percent fact
Theists point to the creation and how people and the world work as evidence of God. They shape God to the way things work and say it's evidence. I don't disagree w/your dragon analogy but I can see where a theist would claim it is an oversimplification and a hypothetical that falls short. I like what Sagen said about extraordinary claims requiring extraordinary evidence. I think from a theists viewpoint their not making an extraordinary claim.

This argument could have been used to say that "germs" are an absurd fairy tale.

@swaydam Except for that little instrument they invented called a microscope.

and that's the problem......its almost impossible to explain to someone that hasn't experienced it.

The same with the dragon.

I've seen it, and it all amounts to no better than random. If you come up with good evidence, though, I'd be glad to see it.

You're asking for absolute knowledge, which isn't an issue, and if you're going to insist we might as well stop talking.
A fact is "if I drop this pen, it will fall". Is it 100 percent? No. But good enough to be considered a fact.

I like how you were in character as Carl Sagan for this.

Damn, Carl Sagan is good. And not a bad reading at all! Most Sagan readings online by fans aren't all that hot. This is good.
BTW, if you like Sagan, check out my unique Sagan tributes, all shot by me in Ithaca, NY.
