It is a gem of mideval Moorish architecture, which draws its essential characteristics from the Moroccon style. The particular arches are found in many historical ciities of Morocco. But the Moores added and lent further detail which is indeed amazingly perfect as far as geometrical and symmetrical design is concerned. The well preserved ruins of historic Alhambra speak of a majestically magnificent and sprawling Muslim Emirate the like of which was unknown anywhere in rest of Eourpe.

The mathematical genius of the building is staggering! Moorish arrived at Iberian peninsula at 8th century (but they were no more than 30.000) They were expulsed later in 1492 and very few more arrived. The blood of the People in spain has always been more or less the same since Celtiberian. well, it is. trus me, i am from there (from granada) so i cant tell you (althought im not living there right now).

It maybe does not look that impressive in photos, but when you are INside the palaces, or looking at her from the Albaycin, it is, in fact, magical as you say.

And trust me, im not being biaed due to being from granada, its a really impresive monument, and you cant understand it individually, you have, in most cases to pair it with the Albaicin.

I was lucky to visit first thing in the morning, and seemed to have the place to myself for the first hour! The moorish architecture is marvelous, the gardens are ingeniously tucked away all over the site. Being built on a hill side, small irrigation channels feed water between the riads, keeping the place cool. The toilets are the cleanest I have ever encountered at an attraction anywhere in the world. There is even a Parador hotel inside the walls. Great day out.

as a child i have been to spain twice in 1982 & 1984, Al Hambra palace (Qasir al Hamra). it brought tears to my eyes i couldnt believe i was in europe.
