@onemin1986 I was curious too so I looked it up...
Apparently it's to show how little bureaucracy (sp?) treats them, so, nameless and faceless, not as individuals. The nurses come in, don't even look at him, just switch the bottles, and then leave. It shows how no one cares about him, and how bureaucracy doesn't care about him, or others like him, they're nameless, faceless things to throw away. Hope this helped, it cleared things up for me! :)
