@rlwelch1s If you have back fees then I can help you out with getting around them. I don't know what state you are in but in California if the bike is 25 years or older I fill out a statement of facts saying that the bike is over 25 years old and is of "Historical interest". This should wave the fees. I worked for me many times. DMV sometimes tries to say that there is no such exemption so I go to AAA where they are more lenient.
Missouri. I looked into it and I would have to put paper work in for a declaratory judgement to get the title. Lawyer = $500 minimum. That's a pain in the ass. I found a frame with a title for $150. The bike was parted out and the pictures showed the condition of the bike before stripping. Was fairly nice. What a shame.
I just bought a 79 xs1100 and I am attempting a similar look. What shocks did you use. I am thinking progressive 412s. Also, Where did you have that seat made. I know you said you had a few. If you are willing to sell please let me know. ryan_lee_welch@yahoo.com
@rlwelch1s I will email you pics of the seats I have for sale. New shocks are always a good idea on an old bike but make sure you get something longer than stock. This will put more weight on the front and make the bike have faster steering. I don't remember what length I put on this bike but go for 1 to 2 inches longer than stock. I can get you shocks for a decent price, let me know what you want and I'll get you a quote. I have an account with a Progressive suspension distributor.
The bike comes original with 12.5, but I am looking to use 11.5 with the travel limiters. I like the look of the lower bike, plus I'm only 5"7. I'll take a look at the seats and let you know.
@odessaboy let me know if you want a custom seat like you see on this one. I have several to choose from. I had Dustin Kott make 5 of them for me when he made the one on this bike.
really nice bike. I got one a few weeks ago with a bad wire harness. I've been trying to stream line the wires, getting rid of all the stuff it doesn't need and hide all that I can. If I can get this thing to run I'll spend some money on it. what handle bars are those?
@AfterMidnightRider2 Extra wide clubman bar. Send me a PM if you want me to sell you one. Most other bars will not clear the tank and will pinch thumbs OUCH! These allow full lock to lock steering.
is this good for a first bike? lol.... no seriously... would i be the worlds biggest moron if i bought one then learnt to ride? because ive been offered one with 3000miles on the clock in great condition for £800.
@tantorecords I would recommend you buy the bike if it is a good deal, then sell it and get a smaller one to learn on because these bikes are quite heavy and if you stall and are not quick to put your foot down or are not strong in the legs, you could have a tip over and potentially broken bones. I would however recommend keeping it and getting a smaller bike to learn on and then try the xs1100 when you are ready, then sell the one you don't like, or keep both whatever.. Be safe
@stillben Yeah. was an absolute steal. So happy with it, although obviously I can't ride it (legally ;p) yet... 1979/1980 model as far as I know. Matte black, custom built saddle, recently re-built engine, runs nicely. Can't wait to get out for a proper ride now!
@tantorecords oh good...if you video it please let me know: ) thinking of buying a local one for 300 quid been standing a couple of years, outside too, so procrastinating.
@buffel2004 No it is not an illusion or mirage. Electronics and battery are hidden using alien technology under and in the alien head part of the seat. Custom seat and battery tray made by Kott Motorcycles (kottmotorcycles(dot)com)

The original title owner died. Therefore, I bought a new frame and title. I am currently working on tearing it down and cleaning everything.
