Maybe it is my imagination... but it seemed that Walter McCarty had 2 points for every rebound he had that year. I think he flushed every rebound as he was getting it!
Man what a team this was! They had a bench that could contend with just about anyone that year aswell! Guys like Sheppard, Mercer, Turner, Pope & Edwards. They even had Mills & Mohammed who didn't even play much that year. What a Monster squad!
This was the greatest team of all time no doubt. @camsixteen I have faith that sometime in the next 20 years, Kentucky will once again have a 10 man rotation that will put on an amazing display as the untouchables did, possibly going UNDEFEATED. Untouchables will never be repeated but I feel that only the BEST come to UK. GO BIG BLUE!

I grew up in Texas, but my blood runs blue.. :) Dad is from Kentucky and I remember growing up watching these games. The entire family decked out in blue and white, eating popcorn and screaming at the TV while UK kicked ass. 1995-1996, 1997-1998 teams are a huge part of my childhood.. :)
I saw these guys in Chicago at the Great Eight tournament in 1996 and become a UK fan ever since....Rick Patino is my favorite college BB coach since then.....There was such comradery amongst the team....They were so conditioned and played hard til the last second of the game, didn't matter that they were up by 25 points....All those guys from Anthony Epps to Walter McCarty could sprint so fast up and down the court wearing the opponent down and their defense was sufficating.....1996 best ever

@bluegrassreb Pitino pulled Antoine Walker for the 2nd half of that Miss St game in the SEC final. He threw that game to motivate the team to win it all. And they did.

If UK fans had a hundredth of the amount of class to the amount of passion they have, they would simply cheer on the Cats and only direct trash talk to officials that make bad calls. Instead they have to resort to talking shit. Folks in Louisville have a lot of fun laughing at you guys for all the trash we hear from your mouths.

When someone asks me what the best college basketball team is I have ever seen...the answer is easy: The 95'96 Wildcats. I'm 33, i saw the 1990 unlv team....this team would have taken them out...12 deep, 40minutes of full court pressure.....3pt shooting from just about every position....unbelievable....I can't understand why Calipari (in this era of UK hoops) doesn't press with the athletes he has...a la Rick Pitino!
This year's (2009-10) team came close to capturing the magic and success of the 95-96 squad, but obviously lacked the experience and outside shooting, "the untouchables" possessed.
Rick knew after it was to late that leaving was his biggest mistake,Tubby gos on to take the team to yet another national title,I have always believed that if rick had stayed the whole time up till know we would have at least 2 more titles or maybe even 3 everybody wanted to play for Ky back then,and bamb just like that ricks gone.I liked him.Since he left I have waited and now I am very happy with our coach,I believe that Cal will lead Ky to sevral titles before hes done.Go Cats.

The best move Pitino ever made was redshirting Sheppard in 97. Without Jeff in 98, no Title. But u could argue, with Shep in 97, even with Anderson getting hurt, we beat Arizona. what was their average margin of victory in 96? i think it was like 29. absolutely crazy how good they were. still have every game on tape. my fav is when they went into georgia tech who was ranked like 10th at the time. and dont forget the beatdown they put on wake forest who had tim duncan. unstoppable. losin the sec title game best thing that could've happened to em.
BEST TEAM OF ALL TIME. they would TRASH 82 north carolina team. just watch the first half vs. lsu. umass was the only thorn in their side and guess what. umass had the player of the year. and mississippi state had a damn good team that year too. both losses that year came from teams that made the final four. people forget that sometimes.

Best team ever!!! So deep they played in the following 2 championship games in 97 and 98 as well. The 2 loses in 96 were close and to eventual final 4 teams umass and miss st.

@ROHTNA1991 The most vulgar and vocal (and thus most visible) fans of WVU and Bob Huggins. The rivalry really got off to a huge start in 2005 when UofL and WVU met in the Elite 8 in a classic that went into overtime. That was also the last year that UofL was in Conference USA.

When someone asks me what the best college basketball team is I have ever seen...the answer is easy: The 95'96 Wildcats. I'm 33, i saw the 1990 unlv team....this team would have taken them out...12 deep, 40minutes of full court pressure.....3pt shooting from just about every position....unbelievable....I can't understand why Calipari (in this era of UK hoops) doesn't press with the athletes he has...a la Rick Pitino!

This year's (2009-10) team came close to capturing the magic and success of the 95-96 squad, but obviously lacked the experience and outside shooting, "the untouchables" possessed.

Rick knew after it was to late that leaving was his biggest mistake,Tubby gos on to take the team to yet another national title,I have always believed that if rick had stayed the whole time up till know we would have at least 2 more titles or maybe even 3 everybody wanted to play for Ky back then,and bamb just like that ricks gone.I liked him.Since he left I have waited and now I am very happy with our coach,I believe that Cal will lead Ky to sevral titles before hes done.Go Cats.

Nice Video! In my opinion this was just not the Greatest UK team of all time, but the Best College Basketball Team of all time. I mean 9 future NBA players and 10 if u count Redshirt Scott Padgett. The best move Pitino ever made was redshirting Sheppard in 97. Without Jeff in 98, no Title. But u could argue, with Shep in 97, even with Anderson getting hurt, we beat Arizona. But who could've forseen that? Hey, we're BACK THOUGH. And College B-Ball better get used to it!! GO CATS!!

Best team ever!!! So deep they played in the following 2 championship games in 97 and 98 as well. The 2 loses in 96 were close and to eventual final 4 teams umass and miss st.
I am biased, but I would put that team against any other team in NCAA history anyday feeling confident. All th haters can say what they want but the banners are hanging in Rupp!!
