• awesome..great memories of my teens.always gave it 100 percent on stage.saw them dozens of times and the cameraderie of the crowd was a feeling that cant be put into words..big shout out to those who were there

  • @ravydavy66 nice to read....Fish is perfect

  • very very good i love it but i must say that houghart is better than fish for me

  • Stand straight, look me in the eye and say goodbye, say goodbye

Stand straight, we've drifted past the point of reasons why

Yesterday starts tomorrow, tomorrow starts today......

  • We are Siamese children related by the heart bleeding from the surgery of initial confrontation...

  • One of my favorite song of Fish era...

  • Helt jävla sjukt bra!

  • Powerful vocals and interesting musical changes.

  • this was a tremendous follow up LP, superb!

  • crazy how things stay in your mind-I remember struggling to sleep on the eve of my driving test in '88-these boys got me chilled-always on my walkman back in the day-passed the test as well-mind you,I was worried because the examiner was the same bastard in a tweed jacket who failed me first time round !

  • Gasp, fish is breath taking :)

  • I`m still in doubt about the real matter of splitting after the clutching at straw album. Unlikely it happend and became real - so I still wisper his songs instinctiv.

  • wunderbar

  • Some of the best music on the plant, in its history....love it forever!

  • Fish looks so cool in his William Wallace get-up.

  • This is what I call music guys

  • quelle bon groupe c'etais

  • Great song!!

  • Without wishing to criticize the virtuosity of Steve Rothery, I think the guitar solo does not match the original version recorded on the album.

  • énoooooooooooooorme, vive marillion et fish c'est juste grand

  • j'aime j'aime j'aime ......

  • absolute awsome performance i was blown away

  • Totally brilliant...lyrics, music, theatrics...the entire package...and he still keeps it alive!!!

  • so sad, that he has lost the highness in his voice :-( but the magic stays the same when he's on stage and I won't stop listening to him until he has sang his last vocal. looking forward to see him in 2 weeks.

    long live the jester

  • El gran Fish, con la voz fascinante de aquella época y su gran banda!!

  • 1984-2011 alive and kicking!

  • Elsk! Luv! Fantastico! Herlig.. ahmagad <3

  • .... an the problem always seems to be we're picking up the pieces on the ricochet....

    indeed

  • sehr geil, habe marillion unzählige male live gesehen.die 84er tour war eine der besten!

  • marrillion without fish is like christmas with no presents !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @TheMegabitch09 I'd have said Father Christmas, but I get yer drift!

  • @CelticReject lol glad sum1 agree's x

  • @TheMegabitch09 lol. Yeah that's a really powerful line that one. I can identify with it at the moment! It's worrying what's going on in the world at the moment and sometimes I think to myself ''When are we going to do something about it''! Tally Ho, CR.

  • @CelticReject i dont think any1 will do anythin about it but hey we will always have fish . just with his music & poetry he can at least ease the pain ov some ov my problems xx

  • I'm a fan of Marillion from Misplaced Childhood. Everything else I met later. Marillion in no letters, no poetry, That is in my memory as I have. It's hard to imagine an album of music perfect, but this is certainly. That is why the concept Marillion need both the image and presence of Fish, above all its lyrical beat. Nor is it coincidence that when he separated from the rest of the band, plus I have done weeping copiously, never saw the hooker to touch down on the rainbow ...

  • Jester Forever!

  • Jester for ever

  • Amazing........Saw this performrd in Vancouver, Canada on the "Misplaced Childhood" tour in March 1986 at The Commodoe Ballroom. One of the best concerts I have ever seen ( and I have seen a lot)!!

At the end of the concert Fish said " We have one more song to play for you tonight"................and it was "Misplaced Childhood" in it's entirety. Absolutely amazing!!!

  • I'm a massive fan of the first four albums, really special to me, but don't dismiss the more recent stuff, Marillion are still making great music.

  • Five people are deaf

  • muito bonita esta musica. Fish forever.

  • @brunokiske digite marrilion live vai achar um show mto bom

  • j'adore cette periode fugazi est pour le meilleurs album de leurs carriere

  • j'adore cette periode fugazi est pour le meilleurs albume de leurs carriere

  • Perfect. "Holding the word scalpel on trembling lips."

  • @DjebelTarik No, dufortrph was right - it is "concealing" not "considering." Look it up.

Anyways, some of Fish's best work.

  • ♥

  • @DjebelTarik You're absolutely right -- my bad. Even more chilling w/ the correct words...

  • tremendous. i loved the first 2 marillion albums.

  • Anyone else get chills @

    "You must've known

    That I

    Was concealing an escape."

  • @dufortrph Nobody wrote great lyrics like Fish! The words just roll off your tongue when you sing along.

  • @Coasterdude02149 Damn right, man.

  • marillion is marillion with or without fish

fish is not the band the others are the band too

  • great great great

  • This is just beuatifully tragic.. one of the most heart wrenching Marillion songs after Script !

  • God... You just have to love Fish!

  • Fish, I heard you for the first time in a complete darkness surrounding me, in a ricochet of life throwing its pieces on my inflamed mind and dying soul

    Thanks for sharing Natz

  • my favourite guitar solo ever..... without a doubt.......

  • Stand straight ...look me in teh eye and say goodbye ...

  • gud to see that Fish is:

''stel alave aftar ul theese yers asweal!!''

  • Drowning tekila sunsets, stowaways on midnight ships,

Refugees of romance plead asylum from the real,

Scrambling distress signals on random frequencies,

forever repatrieated on guilt laden morning planes.

We are pilots of passion sweating the flight on course.

To another summit conference another breakfast time divorce

Screaming out a ceasefire, snowblind in an avalanche zone

    STAND STRAIGHT>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

  • This is a magical band, carrying on the mystical creativity of Genesis, et al. into the 80's

  • We are renaissance children becalmed beneath the bridge of sighs . . . fish makes pictures with words - beautiful x

  • What a performance! They just sound as perfect as they sound in a studio...

I love Marillion, I love this song and all that reminds me.

  • Still knocked out by the beauty of this song, just as I was all those years ago by the passion in the performance of Forgotten Sons on the OGWT.

  • Its such a shame that Marillion did not enjoy a better reputation as one of the greats of prog rock. They were too easily written off as a band loved by spotty schoolboys with denim jackets and long hair. I was one of those spotty youths who loved the band. I'm 42 now and this vid brings it all back - and it still stands up as great music, great lyrics and great musicianship. All hail Marillion. (and all hail Fish - he da man!)

  • QUÉ MARAVILLA

  • magia absolutamente y sin duda alguna..wowowow...you must have known that i was considering an escape!!!! fish rules!!!!

  • like Nightwish without Tarja is not Nightwish

  • Allles von marillion(Fish)

    ist super

  • Fish in una forma strepitosa

  • i love it

  • A french addict... I'm steal believing in the "ricochet' (french word)......

  • Check out Steven Rothery on lead, classic!!

  • one of the best 80's band, my favorite, beautiful guitar piece

  • BEST BAND EVER :D

  • This is great, I don't think I've ever got over them splitting. It feels like a bereavement sometimes. Maybe they burnt too brightly for putting this much passion into the words, music and performance.

  • This is a superb live version - last time i saw them with Fish was 18/12/85 in Blackpool :(

  • Fish before his voice was trashed by all the booze and fags - awesome stuff!

  • This is just Great Music!

  • wow yeah!

    I LOVE THIS SONG!!!!

  • Nobody strings words together like Fish. He's a fantastic lyricist. Seeing him perform like this, with this kind of high energy is indeed, a thrill.

  • @flicklefish I never said this better :) thanks and thanks natz4711 for sharing this amazing perform :)

  • @flicklefish

So hallo Marillion fan, for me I am the same and I am not shure about your report. Might it be right, that Lyrics were edited of Derek William Dick?

Thank you for any sort of answer.

  • @ralfemmelius He wrote the words in the song.

  • Klasse, eins der besten stücke von Marillion und Fish

  • Esta outa cancion es la que mas llega al corazon,, Sin palabras,,, son lo los putos amos

  • Amazing song and lyrics.I still can`t get it how is that possible Fish left the band when they were most popular. They are my favorite band and i still can`t accept they are not together.

  • Have 2 of their albums, and pretty much wore out the vinyl playing them. Still love their music.

  • Yesterday starts tomorrow, tomorrow starts today! INDEED!

  • The soaring guitar solos really lift me;

I love fish's voice and lyrics. Grand music

  • i love fish xx

  • Sensational song!

  • Great music.

  • Tema de grande beleza, baseado na concepção de " The Musical Box " de «Genesis»

  • It brings my memories back... as the ricochet

  • Marillion without Fish is not Marillion

  • @bigua1428 HE IS THE BEST VOCAL/POET EVER!!!

  • @bigua1428 I agree they should have changed the name ... I like Hogarth too ...

  • @bigua1428 maybe, and some people still dress as in the 1980's and think they look great!

  • @bigua1428 but Fish without Marillion is still brilliant.

  • @bigua1428 what would be the marillion movie without retarded comment about Fish? Grow up already, would you?

  • @bigua1428 right

  • belleza pura! se extraña al viejo y querido Marillion...

  • My beloved FIsh :*

  • Zeitlos genial, fantastisch! Ich liebe diesen Song" Seit 1985, als ich ihn zum ersten Mal hörte....

Hast Du noch weitere Clips von diesem Konzert ?

  • It's a song about breaking up but always sounds like a love song to me, not sure why. Kelly's keyboard is haunting. x

  • Holding the word scalpels on trembling lips.

  • lets go back to this great era. Hey Fish is touring uk now, one show up scotland not fully booked out yet!!! Check his website!

  • Takiej muzyki już więcej nie będzie... tylko pieprzona komercha. :(

  • Excellent, brings everything back about the second best band on the planet as was, the first- The Enid. Thanks for this, I'm still on the ricochet!

  • its 25 years ago that i sold the album wunderfull brings memorys back

    those where the days

  • I'm considering an escape back to these fabulous moments! Marillion 1984 forever!

  • how u gonna do that u plonker

  • Just guess how smart boy!

  • its fantastic and amazing song for all eternity. thanks marillion..

  • i was listen jigsaw in trip by car. its continue in our memory...its fantastic and amazing song eternity.thanks marillion

  • Jigsaw me emociona hasta las lágrimas... amo a este tema!

  • I LOVE this song and have for 20 years!

  • Fish comes in too early and ruins the end of Rother's solo...

  • @ElectRonPaul2008 You're right, and they just jump back into it w/o missing a beat. AMAZING timing!

  • One of the greatest Marillion songs ever!

Fish rocks! Trewavas in his best (I love the way this guy plays bass) and Rother's solo.... outstanding!

  • They were great. The solo is magic:)

  • amo essa musica!

  • His vocal magic was so much stronger back then......

  • Im only 18 so I wasent even born when this was done but still I LOVE that guitar from 3:30!

  • i love when screams '' stand straight look me in the eyes and say goodbye''

  • steve couldn't finish his guitar solo - fish began too early and interruped him. :)

  • Nope, fish is coming in right. Compare to the studio version and you'll see :)

  • it's you who must to compare with the studio version from "Fugazi". and if you do this, as I did it right now, you will see that the guitar solo in the studio version is long 50cek., but in this performance is only 30 cek. maybe Marillion play this song two times faster? if you know the song good enough it's easy to hear that the last part of the solo just miss here because Fish begin singing.

  • Haha damn you´re right!

  • Well,i think you are right. He came in too early, didnt he?

  • possibly my best marillion song, pure genius!!

  • brilliant song, needs to be played very loud!!!

  • minha musica favorita do marillion!!!

    perfeito!

  • Fantastic. wolfman

  • Seen them live 5 times, pure magic... Wolfman

  • just GREAT, as always!!!

    thanks for posting!

  • Thanks for posting this one, SUPERB..!!

I'd definitely like to see more from this gig though if anyone has more...CHEERS :)

  • I do have the whole show, but time is short lately :(

I'll try to get the rest online though.

  • ....the words of this poetry seemed to me like emerald marbles appearing of someone's good and beautiful mouth..

  • This is made in the year when I was born. Great song! I love it!!!

  • I love marillion and I wasn't even born when this was done! lol

  • I want more from this show!!!

  • yo lo escucho desde que era bebé

    asi que totalmente de acuerdo

    Marillion es especial..

  • Carajo!!! cuantos recuerdos.. es un idolo de todos los tiempos

  • this is like the love theme to a time I was in love haha in 1988. hot.

  • quelle originalité!!

  • N'est-ce pas???...

  • i was 6 Years old when this happened.

  • Fish's lyrics were fantastic, some of the magic was gone with his loss. Don't get me wrong, I am a big Hogarth fan, but when Helmer stopped writing I'm afraid the songs have taken a turn for the worst

  • Well said, they were awesome back then, especially script and fugazi.

They are a totally different band now, each to their own, but for me the magic is no longer I see Fish in one of the local Tescos regular. hair is a bit thinner ! but he always speaks

Dont think he will be in a hurry to rejoin them !!

  • Thanks so much for posting this song. I saw it performed in Vancouver , Canada in March 1986 at the Commodore Ballroom and loved it. This brings back great memories.Fish introduced the song in the same way.

  • @rocktistic

I was there for that concert too. Perfect venue for Marillion (Outside of the Orpheum).

It's too bad the band sort of imploded. Hogarth is good, but the band was never quite the same. But at least they left us with great music.

  • ... Drowing tequila sunsets, stowaways on midnight ships ...

  • One of the best songs ever by the them! Saw a version of this where, on the guitar solo, the lights went out except for a couple of spots that where trained on a mirror jigsaw piece that Fish scanned around the arena. Awesome!

  • Amazing !

  • desde venezuela,,,,,,,saludos

  • I like how reaches those high notes.

The studio record sounds great. Of course live version is awesome.

  • I believe this version sounds way better than the album version. Don't think the album was produced very well

  • both version are cool,

on a studio version I like that high note on a vocal. it's actually the only song that got stuck with me from that album.

Fish makes these songs so dramatic and personal. It keeps me young because I come back to these songs.

I think Fish got tired later in the song when he said "... Iconsidered an escape".

I am not surprised these concerts are not easy to perform but he always delivers great visual and vocals.

Cinderella Search is from the same concert I think.

  • THIS IS MARILLION!

  • Oh well spotted. Lol

  • This is the song of my youthless.. Just love that album.... Thks Marillion
