This great song is used for the opening and closing credits for Rainer Werner Fassbinder's World on a Wire, a science fiction film made in 1973 that was just released on DVD.
Peter Green's guitar palying is so all mighty good, his blues guitar could honestly make you weep for the beauty! Too bad acid took him to some bad places and he dropped out for awhile!
May I recommend the book 'A Pop Revolution, the transatlantic music scene 1965 to 1969' by the invisible man. The author is a big fan of this fine instrumental.
Such a modest man (Peter Green). Never giving himself any credit and in this video, standing behind the rest of the band. One of the best guitar players that ever was, and didn't even acknowledge it.
WHAT I WOULD NOT HAVE GIVE TO HAVE THE OLD GREY WHISTLE TEST BEGIN 8 YEARS EARLIER..TO SEE THESE CLASSIC BANDS IN COLOR IS GREAT BUT TO HAVE SEEN THEM ACTUALLY PLAY THE SONG AS THE BANDS DID IN OGWT INSTEAD OF AIR RIFF LIKE HERE WOULD HAVE BEEN SENSATIONAL!
I keep coming back to this as it shows just how good the original line up was. Stevie Nicks is a very beautiful talent, but this lot are something else. I really can't express enough gratitude for posting this clip, it stirs me to silence.
A rare clip in colour. Thank you for the posting. I was in a band & used to play this so very long ago. Wasn't at the stage in my development to take the Peter Green role. Still aren't, for me he's the best white guitarist I've seen or heard. His deftness of touch & control is astonishing
