There are too many mass cops. There's over 1200 state police personnel for such a tiny state while Maine is almost 5 times it's size and only has a little over 300 state police personnel. Combined with mass sheriffs office and local municipal there must be a cop for 2 square miles

@tbsdrummer87 Lots of the very small towns in MA are patrolled by MSP from 19:00-7:00. Also one whole troop is strickly the pike and one if for Logan only also. Where do you get 300 for Maine? That sounds extreamly low. Id rather have more cops then way to many. Lots of the smaller towns rely on MSP for backup, my father has called the state troopers into his town multiple times.

@68Engine68 Yea mass is a tiny state, always good to have backup.. Maine actually has like 360, I got it from state website, many are generalist and specialist who 'specialize' in 2-3 units making up for the small amount. Mass is also more populated but Maine is large in size. Guess it's a population size to officer size ration in mass rather than in Maine where it's far less people.
