@Kizales They are really "unnecessary" as the video probably would have been 20 seconds longer (and less engaging) had I not cut those dead silence out of it...
@themefund Sometimes, a little bit of silence and break here and there can make a video even better, at least in my opinion. 20 seconds isn't that bad, though. I probably shouldn't have said "unnecessary" because they have a purpose so long as they aren't excessive, which can be defined as using a jump-cut so often that can break up sentences or even words. This is in no way derogatory or negative, but just constructive criticism based on my own logic of the matter.
@Kizales I understand. To be fair, I feel like I've gotten a little bit better at providing full thoughts without the need for jumping.
However, to me the more important feature of my videos is the audio, I cut them almost like I would cut an audio podcast, often without proofing the video portion till after the render is completed.
@themefund Obviously the content of the video is what matters, really. That's what is supposed to appeal to people. It's good to be original and speak your mind, giving your self-composed opinions on things, and that's what you do very well!
Congratulations! Best of luck with the new addition, hope all turns out happy, healthy, and well.
I was researching cars recently (my truck is getting old), and while its not a hybrid, the Honda Fit seemed to me to be the best balance between affordable, high safety ratings, and great gas mileage, especially if you get the manual. If you only need a commuter car just to use every once in awhile to get the baby around, doesn't seem like a bad fit (no pun intended). fwiw
Saw you on Julia Nunes' stickam Live Chat. Looked interesting enough & not as annoying as the rest of the room. Watched a few of your videos, seemed interesting enough, plus we share a love for Nunes. Subscribed.
Again, congratulations, Bobby! As for car suggestions, I can't say I really have one. I like my car, and it's served me well, but I'm not in love with it enough to recommend it to someone else. Hope you find something that suits you well!
toyota's are excellent vehicles. even old ones and very fuel efficient. if you are looking to have one for only a couple years go older vs new and dont' lease, buy. if you can buy cash so as to not have a car payment. you will likely want something with 4 doors for ease of entry/use. congrats on the baby, now for the next step!!! lol
@VaughnMale The hummer idea is mostly a joke, although I think it would be funny to drive around a biofuel hummer.
I think honestly the only car I would ever buy is some old beat up car for driving into the ground on long road trips, the bicycle seats are the best option I can think of these days.
@themefund Wow they dont sell them? thats pretty crap as they are undoubtably really excellent cars. Good luck with your car search i hope you find a decent cheap used car and also congrats on being a dad XD
I know it's ok advice. I just didn't know your distance from the hospital, and golf carts go,what, a whopping 5mph tops? Think of the demo derbies u could get with those
"And we are going into the 5th hour folks! We might as well give them sledge hammers and finish it like men..."
I recommend a Geo metro or Suzuki swift . 58mpg and its small ,cheap. I found one the other day for around $600 with new tires and mechanically sound.of course you could find cheaper ones and you could even find a convertible one as well. The insurance is also cheap, parts if need a really cheap. So again I recommend this car. Congrats on the bundle of joy since this is the first time I guess of anyone here hearing about it.
@themefund Well see that works out perfect! I know it was hard when me and my wife had our kiddo, overall I hope all the best to you and your gf and your lil one.
i'm not sure if they sell them in america but Holden cars are the safest most reliable cars on the market (at least they are here in australia) and they also get really good mileage to petrol ratio
you should get a honda. period. they are notorious for being safe and long-lasting. my van is 98 honda odessy with over 300,000 miles on it and it still runs great.
@ActuallyAustin I've heard nothing but good about honda. the problem is that in my town it is very difficult to find an old honda for cheap. I live in a mostly college town where everyone has decently new cars.
Also the GF requires that the car have AC (I couldn't care either way) and the REALLY old hondas that I've found in town don't typically have a working AC unit.
@themefund haha, that's very true. even the older honda's tend to sell for more than the blue book value. and i'm with you on the AC bit. who needs it when you have windows, you know?
Wow, that was quite an epic drop of personal information there :) Congrats! I don't drive, so can't really offer any advice here . . . you could always get a bike with a really giant basket on the front to transport your girlfriend in :)
@ghostwritten87 We just watched a documentary called "no impact man" and they got what they called "the SUV of Bikes" it was a tricycle with a big ole' backseat they could carry three people. We've SERIOUSLY considered going that route sometime in the future.
@TheTaco200 not bad advice actually, if we lived a bit closer to some of the places we need to go. Golf carts can be completely electric, and as Hank Green once said, electric cars are the only cars that get GREENER as they age, because of advances in the power grid/solar/wind energy becomes more widely used the eco footprint of an electric car goes down, rather than up as with every other gas or other fossil fueled car.
good luck being a dada. Umm...I have a Pt cruiser which a like a lot but I don't think you would because it uses premium gas and they're fairly expensive and all that jazz. You seem like the type of guy who would fair off better buying from an owner then a dealer. Beyond that I'm clueless. Best of Luck to ya, and yeah being an adult sucks.
@pocketmoney123 We will be doing some of that, but we also are friends with a lot of like-minded people who could lend us a bicycle, but don't own cars :P
I'm sorry you're an adult... but congratulations on being a dad! :)
If you're only going to buy it for a few years, and you're not planning on going super-long distances, just get a used car. I got mine for 3000 and I've been driving it up and down the west coast all year. I highly suggest getting something with around 30 mpg. You don't need a huge car, babies are small. :D
Those costs aren't hidden as such - I'd say the need to buy insurance and gas and tax etc is pretty obvious! But I know what you mean. They are more expensive to run than it may first seem.
Wow. If you can afford Prius then freakin' get one! I would love to have a Prius. My car has pretty much died but I can't even get it repaired. So I am very jealous.
But it depends where you live. If you can use buses then you don't really need a car!
@helenzebcharles they're not hidden so much as not what I initially equate with purchasing a vehicle, and they add up pretty quick.
I don't think we can afford a prius without making hefty monthly payments, which we probably can't really afford right now. We'd like to think we can, but the reality is that thinking you've got the money can lead to not having the money to pay for essentials and thus losing the car and good credit ratings. We'd like to avoid that :P
Definitely avoid a lease. You'll get more bang for your buck if you buy a 2-3 year old used car from a private party instead of a dealership. (Let someone else absorb the immediate depreciation of driving a new car off the lot.) I love my Honda Fit. It's not a hybrid but it gets 30+ mpg.
@JulieVlogs That's been pretty much the unanimous advice we've gotten, avoid leases, buy used and if possible, buy used from a person, not a dealer.
The only isse we would run into buying from a person rather than a dealer is that the car from a dealer might still have some warranty left, which would be nice. Who knows.
@themefund haha. I guess she would have ridden her own bike. I'd like to send you a message but it's saying you have to be my friend to do so. Dude. Add me so I can send you a message!
@Brittanysofficial I'll change my settings to allow non-friends to send messages, I just remembered that I'm waiting on a message about a colab too, and I don't add friends.
Well, in my family we never had a car, not even when I was a baby. I sat on the back of the bike, we would walk, use the pram or take the bus. But then again, I'm danish, we biike everywhere.
@sleantia I wish I lived in an area where more people biked than drove. here everyone has a car and traffic on the roads suffers because of it. Also the bike lanes and paths are truly crap in my town as a result of everyone being motorists rather than cyclists.
Our public transit systems are OK here, but could certainly use some work. We don't have a tram system at all, and most of the buses serve the Uni campus more than they serve the town as a whole.
I enjoy the content of your videos, don't get me wrong, but the unnecessary and excessive jump-cuts drive me crazy.

So, first off, I really really enjoy your videos. :)
Secondly, I think it's pretty awesome that your ride bikes everywhere (I live in Florida too, so I especially admire the dedication despite the heat).
I'll be going to college soon, and I'll be riding my bike around everywhere because, honestly, I'm not a big fan of driving. Any biking suggestions?
Anyway, as far as cars go, I don't have many suggestions. Hondas just seem like good, reliable cars overall.

albeit higher prices)
If you live near campus or are going to be jumping curbs/riding off-road look into buying a mountain bike.
Don't get skimpy on yourself though, spend good money and you'll not have to buy another bike for ages.
