  • not everone can be a great artist, but a great artist comes from everywhere....

    this is touching me

  • The pen may be mightier than the sword, but the fork is mightier than the pen. XD

  • 0:21 or 0:39

    "...Over...nine...thousand...?!?!"

  • 1:06 always cracks me up. :P

  • Best Pixar movie ever; best sequence from a Pixar movie ever and right up with the best ever.

  • No Movie Critic should dare find fault in this movie.

  • @leoclothes Unless you're Armond White.

  • J'adore ce film. Il s'agit de mon film disney préféré tous les temps.

  • I love this movie and this scene especially because it emphasizes "There's nothing like mom's home cooking", a very true statement in my life as well.

  • this movie is deliciously amazing

  • YEAH! just saw this at TV in the "FAMILY" channel.

  • omg that ratatouille looks sooooooooo tasty

  • One Christmas the whole family was meeting at my parents house. I was the last one to get there, after a horrible day at work. As soon as I got out of my truck I could smell my moms fried chicken (for me!), ham, homemade dinner rolls, stuffing, pecan pie, cupcakes, cookies, I dropped my bags at the front door and rushed to the kitchen. Within 5 minutes that entire day fell off my shoulders. Moms are the best!

  • This scene is movie magic for me. For the entire movie, I was wondering how Pixar was going to handle when Ego finally tasted the food. I think it's cheesy when in most movies the characters just talk about how it was delicious because it's not like the audience can taste it or anything. I love the flashback to his childhood and the pen drop. It turns the scene from ordinary to extraordinary

  • why does skinner just barge in there if he was fired what would he have thought would happen if the chefs were still there

  • @maxwold96 - He was hoping to expose what was going on or more accurately who cooked the ratatouille (when he tasted it, he realised that Remy most probably made it) as Linguini doesn't possess that skill or talent. Skinner was under the impression that he had the upper hand when in fact he didn't. Remy had escaped his clutches and came back to the restaurant to help his friend.....

Skinner had a sneaky feeling that Remy was behind this and he was right.....

  • A mother's cooking is always the best.

  • Is it me or does Anton Ego resembles a lot to the villain from despicable me?like,a lot!

  • @777fergiefan he also resembles my Vis Com teacher... Mr. Duncan...

  • @Jay4P Haha! cool!xD

  • Szwp

  • you should try to eat ratatouille , it's so goooood :)

la ratatouille c'est trop bon , miam miam :)

  • oh yeah!. im gonna get a rat for my pet ; )

  • Save the pandas!

  • OMG he added onions to the dish... *tears*....

  • That flashback scene is only a few seconds but it's enough to make me tear up :'-O

  • Im not ashamed to admit that this movie is partially the reason why I want to be a cook :)

  • @KoreanDan310 Same here, i work as a Chef as a major hotel. this movie was quite Inspiring!

  • anyone can cook. even babies. :)

  • if only rats are like this

  • Appetite is coming, and he's going to have a big ego!!

  • Who else is hungrey?

  • Oh Pixar... always making us cry like a baby.

    P.S. Peter O'toole is great!

  • @achefefreitas I totally only watched this because I knew Peter O'Toole was in it! :P

  • @achefefreitas I can see from the comments, that many tear up when Ego has a flashback to his mother's cooking, but my teary moment was when Peter O'Toole's voice came up.

  • @StellaNova1985 In deed, my friend, in deed...

  • very nice

"Ratatouille- grüne Aliens ( in Austin Powers)"

  • ''Anyone can cook'' perfect quote.

  • One of my favorite moments from any pixar film

  • My brother and father was watching this movie, and I didn't care much about it. During the end I stepped into the room and I saw this scene... I literally fought to keep back the tears in my eyes... no scene has been so beautiful to me before.

I feel like crying because I know the time will come when my mother will no longer be around, and never shall I experience the pleasure, the heaven of tasting her food, being around her and ever feeling unconditional love again :(

  • @cplusplus84 I can relate.

  • @cplusplus84 That was the movie's way of saying, "Didn't really care about me, eh? Here's a whopper, then!"

  • i think this scene encapsulates everything thats great about pixar. They use such an age old phrase as "its as good as mums" which has been done several times over but its pixar who add that subtlety and depth which give the phrase such a heart rending meaning. Love it.

  • How can an all-vegetable dish be that tasty? Where does the succulence, the savoriness, come from? All it is is tomatoes, eggplant, zucchini, etc. What could possibly make it taste that divine?

  • "with great power comes with great responsibility" oh shi..wrong movie

  • 0:22 epic win

  • My favorite part & IMO the best part of the movie

  • This speech caught me off guard when I first watched the movie, and remains my favorite part of the entire movie.

  • Great film :)

  • The part where Anton takes a bite of the Ratatoullie and reminds him of his own mother's cooking. I always get teary. Being of Italian heritage, cooking is a big part of my life, and I know exactly the feeling he experiences. There's always a first bite of any kind of food that flashes me back to my mom's kitchen as a kid.

  • @Lateralus03 just wonderin, is that house in the flashback the same one at the beginning of the movie?

  • best movie

  • Sometimes I wonder, did Ego's mom die? That would just make it 2x the emotion. Such a wonderful movie, i've never heard a person say they havent liked it.

  • SOOOOO CUUUTE

  • I like how Skinner clenches the table cloth when he tries the ratatouille. Haha :)

  • JESE! I fantasize about eating Ratatouille nowadays!

  • This is bar far the most influential animated film i've ever seen. I wouldn't be surprised if some kids who watched this grow up to be master chefs someday.

  • If only most critics were like this.

  • Thank you for sharing this :') its a beautiful piece of art :)

  • If I was him I would have ordered something else in the meantime.

  • Beautiful scene and I loved the flashback and his honest heartfelt review. Wonderful film!!!

  • it is amazing how animated movies have evolved over the years with such eloquence and refinement and yet retain a simple message. much like the last speech by Ego. a very well written monologue.

  • That ending narration was probably one of the most beautiful, touching monologues I've ever heard. This scene is beautiful. I remember seeing the trailer for Ratatouille, and I thought, "This film looks so stupid. It will probably be bad". How wrong I was. This film was wonderful. Pixar, you always surprise me with what you do. You can make a seemingly ridiculous idea into something special.

  • I bet Gordon Ramsey would cry watching this scene

  • watched a 60 second version watch?v=lWARXBB1cZY

  • Still brings tears to my eyes. Love this movie.

  • My favorite movie.

  • That flashback....... I think it's probably the best scene in the film, or one of the best anyway. I've seen the movie at least 4 times.

  • the best movie there is abt food!...i wonder wht those ppl at maser chef would say if they saw this movie...:)

  • Unbelievably charming film. A true masterpice.

  • Ego dropping his pen.....it's genius in cinema.

  • Most Pixar films are great. But this one is the only one that was truly about art, and an art form. It's like a beautiful, poignant painting while the other Pixars are hilarious joyrides.

  • Is there anything greater than Pixar?

  • :')

  • Hey; that is "Patton Oswalt's" voice for the rat! : )

  • whos voice is that of ego he reminds me of that guy that does all the nature shows like bleu planet

  • @bakkus1985 It is Peter O'Toole. You are thinking of David Attenborough.

  • I love egos review it speaks the heart and its full of power it helps me write in english class. This movie was fantastic and the review that what i watch this movie for. This quote brings tears to my eyes, not everyone can become a great artist, but a great artist can come from anywhere. I will return hungry for more. This review is a reat sense of accomplishment for me because I look up to it. I use his views and thoughts within my writings to help me see more clearly what I'm writing. You can

  • So simple, yet SO POWERFUL. How do cartoons get it so much more right than other films?

  • @yserrant Good question. It's funny how Pixar does these simple moments better than other films. The scenes in Toy Story 3 where Andy is saying goodbye to his mother and when he realizes that he has to let go of Woody (a symbol of his childhood) is another great example. The scene in Up where Carl looks through Ellie's book at the pictures of her life with him is right on as well. I really do hope that Pixar will win a Best Picture award someday. It really deserves it.

  • This movie always makes me hungry

  • You're not the only one. I always have to munch on something while watching this movie.

  • its minted

  • Forgive my hyperbolizing, but this is the best part of one of the most joyously beautiful films ever made.

  • @kingmeehanthewicked Yeah, for sure. Pixar seems to always create something special and golden; sometimes golden isn't even a great word to describe it, because it goes beyond that. The ending narration is so beautiful, and Peter O'Toole does a great job with it. Pixar is actually really underrated because many people tend to think animated films are just entertainment for kids. Pixar creates works of art that deserve more recognition. I do hope that Pixar will win Best Picture eventually.

  • thie movie got me started cooking, along with jamie oliver lol

  • 0:58- 1:01- Love it!!!!

  • I totally fell in tears when I saw this scene, even if I missed the first part of the movie. That was SO simple, sincere, beautiful. Absolute genious.

  • Cooking is art, and art is cooking. This movie was cooking and art, and touched artists and cooks.

  • You know it's the best if it reminds you of momma's cooking.

  • Funny, the wine in this escene is not french!!!! is a "Morande" from my country: Chile

  • @yosoyignacio1 gosh you've got a good eye ^^

  • Same thing happens to me when I eat Mac and Cheese!

  • this movie made me fall in love with cooking and France. This has to be my favorite Pixar movie ever.

  • dilous

  • I'm not ashamed to admit I cried a little during Ego's flashback.

  • @rftigermode me too :)

  • I had no idea that was Peter O'toole!

  • Why did they call it "Ratatouille"? It seems like an odd name but a splendid dish.

  • @Buliderman9 It's a french word for stew. And something else. Rata = Stew. I think.

  • Wow. The dish is so delicious, it reminds him of a moment from his childhood.

  • This scene can make the toughest man weep ^^.

  • @smanshouse It sure can, brother.

  • Ratatouille so good, he coulda sworn his mother made it! =D

  • 2:55-4:49 is very important for my Genaration

  • This scene is why I defend that Ratatouille is my favorite Pixar film ever. Why? Not only does this scene make me tear up, but this film's premise and voice acting is so simple, that even it seemed that Cars would be a more complex film. Yet the sheer BRILLIANCE of this scene as a metaphor for the film itself! People go into this film with extremely low expectations, yet are wowed by its greatness, just like Anton Ego, and this film teaches to always embrace the new and unfamiliar.

  • @metallicakixtotalass

well said, my exact thoughts ^^

  • @metallicakixtotalass Yes, yes! Exactly...a great film that works on all levels and is a visual and scripting feast.

O'Toole's narrative as Ego doing his review of Remy's cooking is nothing less than superb.

  • PETER O'TOOLE!

Hands down, one of the best scenes in any movie, animated or otherwise. Pure brilliance.

  • awww... what a sad little flashback.... :( poor ego..

  • @tangdoggydog, this movie has the greatest moral in history. And Remy suffered a lot to became a chef which made Remy a different character.

  • I love this scene enough to have remembered it out of the blue (again), looked for it here, and been very grateful to find it. Thanks for uploading it!

  • One of the great endings in cinema.

  • Is amazing how some people add artistic feeling about something so rutinary as food. I love my mom's cooking but now I appreciate it even more.

  • What a good scene...

  • "Not everyone can become a great artist, but a great artist can came from anywhere" Great quote

  • @Evilstuff

    YUp....

  • @Evilstuff "can came"?

  • I thought this movie was great from beginning to end, but this scene left me truly moved.

  • Reminds me te fond memories of childhood and mum's cooking!!

  • This scene is amazing

  • I always loved this movie

  • To catch someone off guard or disarm the most superior person with the simplest dish is the mark of a truly accomplished cook or chef. I strive to give people this experience, and so this clip brings tears to my eyes. If only people realize some of the things right in front of them.

  • @DrRodInc

I always thought that I was alone in this sentiment.

  • Well said......taste and smell have the ability to bring back certain memories, like a trigger.

  • @DrRodInc yeah, I agree. It's like that with any art. This makes me humble too - although I'm not a cook, but a singer, and I try to make people feel something with music instead of food. lol. this clip made me cry too!!! I think it's amazing that people can be so taken aback by the simple things, like food or song. and I love the message, that great artistry can't always be found in everyone, but that it can come from anywhere.

  • @DrRodInc I could not agree with you more. Just the very thought of tasting something fantastic makes my heart race and my insides burn with desire for that next great thing. Food is not huge portions and not just how it fills you up. It's another art form, and this movie has captured that perfectly. I haven't tasted your food but I am very thankful for people like you :)

  • @DrRodInc Beautifully said.

  • @DrRodInc I concur.

  • LOVE the flashback. this has to be one of my favorite movies ever, i can watch it over and over and it still affects me :]

  • @deenn177

    Me too!

  • I always get a little teary hearing this part!!! ask my mom, lol

  • the writing is amazing and great and awesome movie =) <3

  • "Ratatouille" has such great writing. I just love Ego's monologue at the end.

  • It's so good!

  • I love this movie too.

  • I think Ego`s love for food started when he had the look on his face at 0:37

  • Skinner is the primary antagonist of the film.

  • One of the best scenes in movie history indeed. Unfortunately many young people in the western world would never know what the taste of mom´s food is like... because they are used to eat junk food or pre-cooked stuff... WHAT A SHAME!!!

  • not everybody is like that! =D

  • i love this movie...

  • Lindoooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • that french atmosphere, his tight words and his fine criticism make this scene epic. real epic.

''not everyone can be a great artist, but a great artist can come from anywhere''

  • I love the way you put it , jsut sounds so good

  • thanx

  • that'd be awesome if food could taste that good

  • I have the pleasure in telling you that at this moment I was precisely looking for this scene of Ratatouille, because what happened to "Ego" on (0:22 and on), has just happened to me; in a totally different manner: I ended up in tears, effectively, a dish I have just tried out sent me back to my childhood, and to that extraordinary taste of about 40 years ago. And because this I recalled the expression on Ego face (0:56). I had that expression on my face.

  • THANK YOU AUNT TERE FOR YOUR WONDERFUL COOKING. With tears still in eyes I went to thank the person who , in this occasion delighted me with her cooking.

  • masterwork: this is my favorite scene, one of the best ever

  • wow I love this scene. Mama cooking is always a special moment. It must have been awesome to trigger a repressed memory. I understand that ratatouille is a peasant dish. is this true?

  • Not really.

    It's a normal dish.

It's called a 'peasant dish' int he film because the film takes place in a highly respected restaraunt. And having a simple dish like ratatouille is like a peasent.

So basically. It's a normal dish.

  • I absolutely LOVE Ego's flashback.

It tugs at my heartstrings like nothing else.

    Poor little Ego..

He busted up his bike and skinned his knee.

  • It's the first time I cried because of a scene in an animated movie...

  • @XShadOBabeX I know, it goes to show he wasnt as wicked and heartless as they show..always had my theory that, I have no idea how he come food ceritec but I had theory that may be lost his mother and kind of made him a tad..daker and loner and maybe eating that again unlocked something..

  • lol you get flashbacks from eating that stuff? I gotta try that, relive my chuck e cheese moments XD

  • Studies show smell/taste create stronger flashbacks than any other sense

  • Few movies have made me smile like this. The very end makes me smile too.

  • It should get the Pulitzer for best criticism too! I tear up at the part.

  • i love this movie ♥

  • I love how, at 0.52, you can see the little boy in Ego's face again. Such attention to detail, from the football under the chair to the basket of warm glowing oranges.

  • That scene is very touching.

  • this always makes my eyes water up

...and you know, when I really think about it

Ratatouille is my favorite pixar movie

  • mine too
