I got a ring in a week ago and it only started to get sore Saturday. I have following my piercers instructions etc. Using saline to clean it every day twice religiously. In the past 2 days it has swelled and now doesn't move except when I clean it and it is really stingy. This morning it leaked puss, I sure don't hope it's infected I was told there would be some as the bodys natural defence but it's the pain it's causing.. I don't want to take it out I love it too much! Any Suggestions?

i got mine pierced a month ago and it is the best piercing ever! xD i gave it a sea salt soak after i got it pierced aand about two days after it didn't hurt at all :D but since i have a labret in its hard to clean the back of the piercing hole :/
@pandaparadise12 i love my tragus too! if you do sea salt soaks with the cup trick like me, it's cleaning in back of the piercing hole, trust me! that salt water gets down in there :)
@carerissmakeup it's a labret stud. they are easier to heal because they dont roll and wiggle around as much as hoops (which cause those bumps and bubbles). studs are easier to take care of in my opinion

I just got my 2nd and 3rd lobes done and they stung pretty bad , of course it was double the pain because I got more than one but I was just wondering how would you compare the lobe and Tragus piercings?
@ImAsFakeAsMyBoobs tragus is more like an upper ear cartilage piercing... it's going to be a little worst than triples. but not that bad at all. maybe a 2 or 3 on the pain scale
Everything you've said is completely right!!!! the whole twisting thing too!!! Although i'm sorry to betray you but last night i took it out...and i've only had it for a week....that was similar with my nose piercing but it fell out in the shower :) i've been cleaning it with salt water.
I had mine done about 2 months ago. And im soo happy that its all healed i just changed the earring and i love it :) but i used to twist it around and move the bar in and out :s but no infections or anything im relievd of that... Anywho, u gave great advise thanks so much for the info :)
@LoveTaylorLynn mine had its good days and bad days for about 6 months. just keep cleaning it. and actually when it starts to crust a lot that means it's sliding towards the end of it's healing phase. just keep cleaning!! remember they take up to a year to heal!

U r a tough GIRL!! I like u, very risky trying your tragus after that ear infected. Sorry about that, thank goodness u learned from that lesson and helped others as well. My daughter saw this video since today she had her tragus pierced and I LOVED when u said: "Do Not Touch It!". Take care
@kanoshia23 itching is normal when it's healing. You're only a few days in, so you shouldn't have any problems yet; just be careful to not bump it or twist it too much. It's going to be sore for a while, considering you just got a needle punched through your cartiledge. :)
I just got my both of my tragus pierced 2 days ago and I've been cleaning it with Dial soap. I clean it 3 days time a day when i wake up, after i get out of school and before i go to bed and It's been doing good so far, but it's starting to itch and they're still sore & tender. I was freakin out cuz my piercer told me to use any kind of salt and i remembered watchin this vid a while before getting it pierced.. i asked the shop owner and he fired my piercer.. i do pretty much the same stuff as you but i make sure my ear stays as dry as possible in the shower because i heard from a few places that shampoos and conditioners
@11voltz yeah many piercers are bad and lazy and say to just do whatever... ive heard some piercers tell clients to wash their piercings with shampoo!!!! thats so wrong :(

@MrNibblesawesomeness yes you can still wear ear phones/ ear buds... but wait til it's healed... or at least for 2-3 months... and always disinfect your ear phones... carry around little antibacterial wipes and wipe your headphones every time before you wear them... this will help germs from getting into your piercing... it's comfortable for me!
i just got my tragus 4 days ago. it still hurts a bit and is swollen. just like u said it didnt hurt. i have got a lot of commets bout it. anywho, i was told by my pierce that i have to used bottle water or spring water.
So strange my piercer told me not to clean it and let the body heal it itself don't move it AT ALL. and guess what i've got this weird as 'bubble' looking blister thing on the inside and out :( so now i dnno what to do
@Aloxic you probably dont need eucalyptus and menthol, all those extras probably arent needed but if the sea salt has that in it, then that's ok too! just make sure it's non-iodized salt!

@xxjustinbieberxx111 make sure you clean it as soon as you get out of the water. buy Bactine spray from CVS and carry it with you and spray it on after you get out of water. or, at least go to the bathrooms and rinse off the piercing with cold water. you dont want chlorine in your new piercing!
Ok, so I got my tragus pierced on Saturday (both ears) I woke up today ( Thursday) and my right tragus was swollen. Could the swelling be from sleeping on it or talking on the phone with that ear ? It doesnt hurt at all but there is a little soreness when I clean it but im sure thats normal since this is a very new piercing
@RebeccaMUSICx i wouldnt on such a fresh piercing but if you absolutely must, get antibacterial wipes and wipe off your earbuds every time you go to put them in. get a travel pack of them, throw them in your purse or backpack and before you even THINK about putting them in your ear after theyve been laying on your dirty desk, wipe them off good!
@thisheartbeatsfor exercise really doesn't affect your piercing too much... but i assume you probably shower after you exercise, so if you dont use antibacterial soap (which i really do recommend) then at least rinse off your piercing with cool water. Do the salt soaks once a day.

@FARSOKELLOS well you definitely don't want the hole bigger.... my piercers have always told me to not twist any piercings... to just leave them alone unless youre cleaning them.
hey i just got my trangus pierced and the piercing guy told me to just put table salt with hot water on it 3 times a day and that i should twist my piercing every 30 minutes
@FARSOKELLOS pardon my language but... OH HELL NO! i cant believe your piercer actually told you to use TABLE SALT, thats horrible for piercings! It has iodine in it which severely affects and irritates piercings. Sounds like your guy didnt know what he was talking about at all. your best bet is to buy antibacterial liquid soap (not scented, not colored) and use that once in the shower a day, and if you can find non-iodized sea salt in the grocery store, then follow my instructions in this vid

@mamiichula22 thats a keloid, if you keep cleaning properly and leave the piercing alone (no picking, playing, twisting) it will go away on its own eventually. however tea tree oil can be applied a couple times a week and makes the bumps go away within a few weeks
does it hurt when you use earpiece ? my friend told me that if you had tragus piercing , you can't wear earpiece :/ . and do you have to clean it like everyday ? im considering to get a tragus piercing
@NERDzxc you can't wear earpieces or ear buds (headphones that go inside your ear) while it's healing because those things are SO dirty and full of bacteria, which could infect your piercing. wiping them down with antibacterial wipes will help. it takes about 3 months to heal and then you can go back to regularly wearing earbuds. yes you have to clean it every day just like any other piercing.
@micromini2010 tea tree oil... usually found in the finger nail aisle at your drug store.... a couple little drops on it every couple days should make the bumps go away... but they do go away on their own as long as you keep cleaning your piercing properly :)
@micromini2010 Hello, I had a bump in the back of my tragus piercing, having a captive bead ring in the hole. The only way i got rid of it (it took about one week) was changing the jewellery with a barbell. If you don't have a ring as a piercing, I don't know what would help you. Also, the only thing that I use for cleaning it is non-iodized sea salt solution. Good luck!
@RandumCait sometimes it might pinch a little, but it shouldnt because you arent supposed to use alcohol or peroxide. a gentle sea salt water wash should feel relieving and nice!

@bellezalatina152 absolutely. not until it's healed though! those ear buds carry lots of bacteria on them! if my ear has an itch on the inside i can stick a q-tip or my finger in it even with the piercing, it doesnt prevent any of that! plus it's easy to sleep on!
i have went in the pool for an hour at tops since ive gotten it pierced. and like ive had it for about a week or less now, and i hve been putting the H2ocean stuff on it.. and you know washing it in the piercing. and i havnt really been to persistant washing my hands (cause im just lazy i guess) and like im kinda scared that it might be infected cause of the chorine and me playing with it.. what should i do. like whats your best advice. im going to the store to get that provon stuff u have 2
@CABnbd sea salt water soaks twice a day (or your h2ocean twice a day)... also Bactine spray everytime you get out of the pool. keep your hair out of it... change or wash your pillow cases every 3 days or so. take advil if it gets warm or swollen. and stop playing with it!!!!

Question... I just got my tragus pierced a week ago today and it was completely fine until yesterday when I noticed that it is getting swollen. Did this ever happen to you? My piercer told me that it might swell but I don't know if this is what he was talking about. I have my cartilage and both ear lobes done and they never get swollen. I clean it once in the morning with peroxide and then once at night with the sea salt solution. What should I do about the swelling? Please and Thanks!
@vincegragnano well you shouldnt be cleaning with peroxide first of all, that will totally dry out your piercing in a bad way. sea salt soaks twice a day are good for you, also buy Bactine spray-- in the band-aid aisle at your drugstore. also, swelling with cartilage is normal for the first 6 months. take advil or ibuprofen (not tylenol) and it will reduce pain and swelling. it's all normal.
I have a bump on my tragus, not major skin tag but it's full of puss *white stuff. I cleaned it daily but I'm also a music head so I'm always having my headphones in, would they be the case of why I got the bump and what should I do to heal it?
@TACJ2 get antibacterial wipes and always wipe your headphones before you put them in your ear... thats the dirtiest thing you can do is put headphones on over a piercing, who knows where theyve been laying, whos touched them, what animal has licked them, etc. also, keep cleaning your piercing daily. tea tree oil is known to get rid of keloid bumps too, if it doesnt go down after being more sterile...
@sydneebailey well i got mine in january so i waited.... 6 months. you need to wait at LEAST 2 months.... you should really try your best to keep your head above water and you need to clean it as SOON as you get home from swimming or purchase Bactine spray and take it with you to the pool so you can spray it on everytime you get out of the pool
@scallewag you can get either 16g or 18g.. .theyre Labret studs... you can get them anywhere-- hot topic, spencer's, walmart, or online at amazon. but you gotta search for labret studs, not tragus jewelery! :)
i have had my tragus pierced for about 2 months now and like 2 weeks ago i got huge bump on the back of it. did you get the bump? do you have any ideas to help it go away?it doesn't hurt so i'm guessing its not infected..
@ccasgrell that's most likely a keloid and they form if you have wiggled the piercing around too much, most people do get them around the 2 month mark, sometimes later! tea tree oil is your friend :) a few drops of it onto the bump for a week or two should get rid of that annoying bump.
i got my tragus pierced 12 days ago with a ring and up until today it was never an issue. today it became a little more sore and tender than usual. the ring did get moved from me sleeping on it (i think) so i was thinking maybe that's why it's more sore than usual, but i'm not sure. if it's not oozing anything out of the ordinary, am i probably okay and it's not infected?
@machine0egg you're fine! just keep cleaning it with sea salt soaks and even buy yourself Bactine, an antibacterial SPRAY, it's great for on the go! and be careful wit hair products, and you should probably change or wash your pillow cases every 5 days with this new piercing
@peaceandlove181 well like i said in the video, my piercer told me to do 2 sea salt soaks (one in the morning and one at night) and one antibacterial soap wash whenever i showered.

@peacelovechef if youve had it for 2 weeks already, i'd say just keep doin your thang.... although i'd reccomend you buying Bactine spray from your local drug store... it's an antibacterial "wound" spray and it's great for quick cleanings or on the go cleanings! just 2 or 3 sprays on the piercing and you're good to go. it worked wonders for my rook :)

@peacelovechef tea tree oil will help it... it is most likely a keloid, as most cartilage piercings get those little bumps. try a few drops of tea tree oil on a q-tip on the piercing bump once a day, it should take it away... and keep cleaning as usual!
Ahh yeah dried blood, it's all clear now :) I'm worried that when Im cleaning the back plate whether I should push it or not? Also mine didn't Hurt at all or swell after jt :D
@smileymat123 brown? hmm... that doesn't sound normal. most healthy 'pus' should be clear. brown could be dried blood though, be gentle when cleaning it and if you still have brown gunk in the next couple days i would ask your piercer.
I got my tragus pierced on the 4th. It didn't hurt too bad for the first couple of days, but now it hurts A LOT when I clean it. Is that normal? I'm going to try your method of cleaning it because it looks like it works a lot better. Also, I have a hoop in mine, not a barbel.

@Aloxic you probably dont need eucalyptus and menthol, all those extras probably arent needed but if the sea salt has that in it, then that's ok too! just make sure it's non-iodized salt!

@xxjustinbieberxx111 make sure you clean it as soon as you get out of the water. buy Bactine spray from CVS and carry it with you and spray it on after you get out of water. or, at least go to the bathrooms and rinse off the piercing with cold water. you dont want chlorine in your new piercing!

Ok, so I got my tragus pierced on Saturday (both ears) I woke up today ( Thursday) and my right tragus was swollen. Could the swelling be from sleeping on it or talking on the phone with that ear ? It doesnt hurt at all but there is a little soreness when I clean it but im sure thats normal since this is a very new piercing

@RebeccaMUSICx i wouldnt on such a fresh piercing but if you absolutely must, get antibacterial wipes and wipe off your earbuds every time you go to put them in. get a travel pack of them, throw them in your purse or backpack and before you even THINK about putting them in your ear after theyve been laying on your dirty desk, wipe them off good!

@thisheartbeatsfor exercise really doesn't affect your piercing too much... but i assume you probably shower after you exercise, so if you dont use antibacterial soap (which i really do recommend) then at least rinse off your piercing with cool water. Do the salt soaks once a day.

@FARSOKELLOS pardon my language but... OH HELL NO! i cant believe your piercer actually told you to use TABLE SALT, thats horrible for piercings! It has iodine in it which severely affects and irritates piercings. Sounds like your guy didnt know what he was talking about at all. your best bet is to buy antibacterial liquid soap (not scented, not colored) and use that once in the shower a day, and if you can find non-iodized sea salt in the grocery store, then follow my instructions in this vid

@mamiichula22 thats a keloid, if you keep cleaning properly and leave the piercing alone (no picking, playing, twisting) it will go away on its own eventually. however tea tree oil can be applied a couple times a week and makes the bumps go away within a few weeks

@NERDzxc you can't wear earpieces or ear buds (headphones that go inside your ear) while it's healing because those things are SO dirty and full of bacteria, which could infect your piercing. wiping them down with antibacterial wipes will help. it takes about 3 months to heal and then you can go back to regularly wearing earbuds. yes you have to clean it every day just like any other piercing.

@micromini2010 tea tree oil... usually found in the finger nail aisle at your drug store.... a couple little drops on it every couple days should make the bumps go away... but they do go away on their own as long as you keep cleaning your piercing properly :)

@micromini2010 Hello, I had a bump in the back of my tragus piercing, having a captive bead ring in the hole. The only way i got rid of it (it took about one week) was changing the jewellery with a barbell. If you don't have a ring as a piercing, I don't know what would help you. Also, the only thing that I use for cleaning it is non-iodized sea salt solution. Good luck!

@bellezalatina152 absolutely. not until it's healed though! those ear buds carry lots of bacteria on them! if my ear has an itch on the inside i can stick a q-tip or my finger in it even with the piercing, it doesnt prevent any of that! plus it's easy to sleep on!

i have went in the pool for an hour at tops since ive gotten it pierced. and like ive had it for about a week or less now, and i hve been putting the H2ocean stuff on it.. and you know washing it in the piercing. and i havnt really been to persistant washing my hands (cause im just lazy i guess) and like im kinda scared that it might be infected cause of the chorine and me playing with it.. what should i do. like whats your best advice. im going to the store to get that provon stuff u have 2

@CABnbd sea salt water soaks twice a day (or your h2ocean twice a day)... also Bactine spray everytime you get out of the pool. keep your hair out of it... change or wash your pillow cases every 3 days or so. take advil if it gets warm or swollen. and stop playing with it!!!!

Question... I just got my tragus pierced a week ago today and it was completely fine until yesterday when I noticed that it is getting swollen. Did this ever happen to you? My piercer told me that it might swell but I don't know if this is what he was talking about. I have my cartilage and both ear lobes done and they never get swollen. I clean it once in the morning with peroxide and then once at night with the sea salt solution. What should I do about the swelling? Please and Thanks!

@vincegragnano well you shouldnt be cleaning with peroxide first of all, that will totally dry out your piercing in a bad way. sea salt soaks twice a day are good for you, also buy Bactine spray-- in the band-aid aisle at your drugstore. also, swelling with cartilage is normal for the first 6 months. take advil or ibuprofen (not tylenol) and it will reduce pain and swelling. it's all normal.

@TACJ2 get antibacterial wipes and always wipe your headphones before you put them in your ear... thats the dirtiest thing you can do is put headphones on over a piercing, who knows where theyve been laying, whos touched them, what animal has licked them, etc. also, keep cleaning your piercing daily. tea tree oil is known to get rid of keloid bumps too, if it doesnt go down after being more sterile...

@sydneebailey well i got mine in january so i waited.... 6 months. you need to wait at LEAST 2 months.... you should really try your best to keep your head above water and you need to clean it as SOON as you get home from swimming or purchase Bactine spray and take it with you to the pool so you can spray it on everytime you get out of the pool

@scallewag you can get either 16g or 18g.. .theyre Labret studs... you can get them anywhere-- hot topic, spencer's, walmart, or online at amazon. but you gotta search for labret studs, not tragus jewelery! :)

@ccasgrell that's most likely a keloid and they form if you have wiggled the piercing around too much, most people do get them around the 2 month mark, sometimes later! tea tree oil is your friend :) a few drops of it onto the bump for a week or two should get rid of that annoying bump.

i got my tragus pierced 12 days ago with a ring and up until today it was never an issue. today it became a little more sore and tender than usual. the ring did get moved from me sleeping on it (i think) so i was thinking maybe that's why it's more sore than usual, but i'm not sure. if it's not oozing anything out of the ordinary, am i probably okay and it's not infected?

@machine0egg you're fine! just keep cleaning it with sea salt soaks and even buy yourself Bactine, an antibacterial SPRAY, it's great for on the go! and be careful wit hair products, and you should probably change or wash your pillow cases every 5 days with this new piercing

@peacelovechef if youve had it for 2 weeks already, i'd say just keep doin your thang.... although i'd reccomend you buying Bactine spray from your local drug store... it's an antibacterial "wound" spray and it's great for quick cleanings or on the go cleanings! just 2 or 3 sprays on the piercing and you're good to go. it worked wonders for my rook :)

@peacelovechef tea tree oil will help it... it is most likely a keloid, as most cartilage piercings get those little bumps. try a few drops of tea tree oil on a q-tip on the piercing bump once a day, it should take it away... and keep cleaning as usual!

@smileymat123 brown? hmm... that doesn't sound normal. most healthy 'pus' should be clear. brown could be dried blood though, be gentle when cleaning it and if you still have brown gunk in the next couple days i would ask your piercer.

I got my tragus pierced on the 4th. It didn't hurt too bad for the first couple of days, but now it hurts A LOT when I clean it. Is that normal? I'm going to try your method of cleaning it because it looks like it works a lot better. Also, I have a hoop in mine, not a barbel.
