for scenery and eye-candy, they could use Microsoft FSX with all the add-ons and AI traffic on dedicated severs, and also use crew announcements. It'd be super realistic!
the PM is not blind, he must verify the positive rate is reached before the gear is actually retracted. btw the PF verifies as well the positive rate before the call is given (as you can see from the video, the command is given seconds after lift off).
but i though sop dictated positive rate of clime needed to be confirmed b4 gear up in case of engine failure or any other factor that would slow take off
@drumdude46 PF/PNF .. hmmm airbus guy :P .. well yeah thats the way even we do it.. at CAE ! thats the airbus policy, n the companies have to follow it. m not sure if its the same for a boeing n that too in a visual pattern.
@drumdude46 ciao, I am ryanair pilot as well, I can confirm what said by mattiussi, PF calls " gear up " and PM responds " positive rate "....yes, for me at least at the beginning it was a bit tricky but this is the way we do..... ciaooo
but beware at this price, you get the very generic boring visual scenes. Add customized visual scenes for your airport at only $100 000 per airport. Now it's a deal!
Yes, unrealistic at times, but some can take it (like myself) very seriously and make it as realistic as possible. And Flight Simulator "helps you establish your confidence with the airplane" and also helps you learn a lot.
@Schaschlik345 I've done Major Airline's Boeing767 and MD11 simulator about 10 years ago and years passed I bought FSX and I remember I was amazed its realistic (with a good PC of course) in terms of CG view than the Airline's simulator. So FSX isn't that bad at all if you know the history of it. still I understand if you see the cool one like full motion 787 simulator , you'll want it.

hmmm, 'captain' pulled up gear before positive rate was confirmed....hmmm
bluenessaja 2 years ago
The PF calls "gear up" and the PM " responds " positive rate" that's company SOP.
mattiussi 2 years ago 15
Other way around my friend. PNF verifies VSI rate and ALtimiter Climbing First, says "Positive Rate". PF (capt) will then respond with "Gear up"
PNF reaches over and performs the action.

Not in RYR,

its true - this is a special ryanair SOP .. the PF will call gear up and the PNF will then confirm positive rate and put it up

wouldnt u rather spend the money on a course so u can become a pilot instead of spending it on building a simulator?

that's a part of education already, you can't fly without type rating.
arkadasabakipcikicam 2 years ago
i know this is a type rating, i was replying to someone who was talking about building a simulator.

on special at only US$12 000 000
but beware at this price, you get the very generic boring visual scenes. Add customized visual scenes for your airport at only $100 000 per airport. Now it's a deal!

They use special programs for their simulations. MS flightsim is waaay to unrealistic
