  • @Vienna6969 If schools got smart they would implement thier own challenge day program based off the original model, its not that difficult if you are a good speaker, listener and love kids, bring on the counselors, bring on the t-shirts, bring on the lesson plan that teaches, empathy, respect for others, tolerance, self esteem etc, have the kids stand and cross the line, give them the microphone and let them speak, why do we need to pay a company thousands to do what we can do ourselves!

  • i did challenge day and another one call building bridges it was a great experience that i recommend to every one else . it was just an amazing experince

  • If Challenge Day cost even 100,000 for three days, it would be worth it. Why is it that people value stuff like cars and real estate more than a person's life or a kid's self esteem? If this program has this much of an impact, I wish it was mandatory for ALL schools to do. It's way more important than a algebra lesson that I'd never use or remember.

  • I wish it was too. The process changed my life for ever.

  • Do you have any idea how much this costs?? SEVENTEEN THOUSAND DOLLARS for 3 days for 100 kids. Schools can barely afford copy paper and are slashing budgets left and right. Where in the H.E.double hockey sticks is a school going to come up with this kind of money? These "award winners" care just about that...winning awards and CASH, not about TRULY CHANGING THE WORLD! Maybe private schools where the rich kids go, but not in the public schools where kids really need it!!!!!!

  • I think you've hit on an excellent issue. Oakland Men's Project and The NEAT Family (who wrote the originl curriculim along with the input of other agencies) under Contra Costa County Alternatives to Violence and Abuse Coalition had the funding for us to come in and do this for free. Since than most of the prevention funding has gone into DARE, the local police dept funding. You know the PD is not going to do these kind of activities.

  • @kaydee37 What does it matter how much it costs??? I cant believe that you would even be concerned about this. Have you ever came to the conclusion that if people actually feel like they can talk about their issues, they would value themselves more, which makes them believe that they have something to look forward to. If this program came to the school it would change everything. The individual will then want to go to school, therefore staying out of gangs, possiblty getting more grades

  • @Vienna6969 I will guarantee you one thing--yep, I would bet everything I own on it--I know far more about "talking about issues" than you even have a clue about. Second of all, get real. Do you live in Disneyland or Fantasyland? People can't even pay their damned mortgages or their utilities, many are out of work and the dollar is getting ready to fail (and if you don't know this, you're uneducated, as I suspect). Get REAL the cost is SINFUL and DISGUSTING!

  • @kaydee37 Well then maybe the American government should stop spening so much money on the war and put it towards school. Your the one living in a flawed country. I am from Canada, and we value the lives of our people much more then a war. I highly doubt you know more about issues then I do lol, and no I don't lol, most of the schools in the US are given money depending on how well the school is doing as a whole, by judging grades and how many people attend. If they did this program people wou

  • @Vienna6969 Wake up! Canada is going down the drain right along with us. And let me point out that I AGREE that this is a WONDERFUL PROGRAM just UNREALISTICALLY (SINFULLY) over-priced. If the REAL REASON for this program was to HELP CHILDREN (and our society(ies) the price would be NOWHERE CLOSE to this. It's money-grubbing GREED MONGERS LIKE YOU & THESE PEOPLE WHO PUT OUR COUNTY (IES) WHERE IT (THEY) ARE AT!

  • @kaydee37 Canada is nowhere close to the United States, and our economy is doing way better, ummm last time I checked our dollar was closer to yours then it has been in a long time.

  • @Vienna6969 Ok hun. You win. You're a brainiac! Continue in the dark. It serves you well.

  • @kaydee37 And secondly, how the hell am I a money grubbing greed monger? DONT MAKE ME LAUGH, I believe that it should be free....but guess what ITS NOT....the people running this program need to make a living too...not to mention all the travel expenses and things to use while doing the demonstration. The way you came off is that the schools were completally poor and that they should be spending their money on "better" things and that the people out to change the world were just greedy people

  • @Vienna6969 Free! Even a REASONABLE cost would be good. But the point is moot. This project will never succeed in America at this price. That's the bottom line. And your perception is so screwed up it's laughable. You know NOTHING about American schools except what you read in the mainstream, government owned, media. The reality is the schools AND CITIES, AND COUNTIES, ARE BROKE--not just SOME, but MOST. Bottom line: program=good Cost=GREED!!!!!!!!!

  • @Vienna6969 Again, I have to TOTALLY LAUGH OUT LOUD AT THIS STATEMENT "Your" (sic) "the one living in a flawed country. I amm from Canada, and we value the lives of our people much more then a war." Uhmm HELLO, EARTH TO YOU!!!! CANADA HAS PARTICIPATED IN THIS FAKE-ASS WAR AS LONG AS AMERICA! As for American schools--------I MUST FULLY AGREE WITH YOU!!!!!!

  • @kaydee37 Canada doesnt participate in wars, first of all we are in a completally different area then you are and secondly....we are peace keepers...we want to spread the thought of democracy not kill people for bombing the world trade centers...which many people believe was set up completally by the American government.

  • @kaydee37 ld feel better about their lives and stay out of gangs and jail, and want to better themselves. As I previously stated, the fact that you would put a price on peoples lives is very dissapointing, and pathetic.

  • @kaydee37 Then that means more funding for the school. The fact that you are putting a price on an individuals life esteem and life is pathetic.
