@caessarion The Gold is made for nugget hunting although I have not used either machine for that. The Gold does seem to pick up extremely small targets with the small loop so that's always a plus. The only advertising I get paid for is through Google Adsense for those stupid ads (if people click on them) at the bottom of each video. I earn enough to buy about three batteries each month...
@SNiiPER155 I had researched a Civil War site and was detecting that when I stumbled upon this find. Just goes to show that treasure can be anywhere....
@setamluos1 Well, when you have fisherman and swimmers watching you, you can't really do either. The most you can do is look them in the eye and say, "Just a couple of wheat pennies and a few sinkers". LOL
I think it sad that someone has to come out and say that a great find is automatically "fake". It might not be an everyday occurance to find a hoard like this, but it happens every so often, and in many places. I have been detecting for 36 years and even though I havent found a hoard like this, I have made many finds (and groups of finds) that even surprised me. Why dont you get out and detect and look for your own rather than coming on here and accusing this guy for faking this?
@coolestdude80 I do like the Garrett machines for water hunting. So much so that if I had the opportunity to work for them, I probably would. But alas, it isn't so and you are mistaken about the authenticity of my videos. Haters gonna hate, but I'll keep posting my hunts for those that enjoy them. Thanks for the comment, though it was kind of harsh...
@Monzter271skatexD Thanks, but I'll probably just hold on to them for now. If I do ever decide to sell any, I'll keep this contact info and let you know. There have been several people interested in them. I'm glad you like them!
@coolestdude80 They were found in the eastern U.S. in a river. I don't know how the coins were lost for sure, probably as someone tried to cross the flooded river. Thanks for checking out the video!
I have a question...I don't want to know where you detected as I am sure that is secret...I just want to know how you knew where to look...I have trouble picking good places...thanks...Robert
@liesaremadewithhate I researched an area that had Civil War camps nearby and was searching the water looking for things soldiers may have tossed in the water. The coins were an unexpected find that is unrelated to the Civil War. Just goes to show that good things can be found when you least expect them. Good luck in your searches!
I also found a similar cache of gold coins in 2003. It was a lost US military payroll buried in the side of a creek bank. Coins dated back to the 1840s. Most were liberty heads and eagles. There were over 200 coins in the strong box. It was the find of a lifetime and helped me retire in my 30's. My heart just about stopped when I found this. It was almost too good to be true. It was.
....@301EAF That's the kind of find we all dream about. Did you ever publish your story? I'd love to hear more about it. If not, you should consider it as it inspires all of us to keep going. After all, if no ones looking for treasure, it probably won't ever be found.
@aquachigger You know, I never thought about publishing the story. I did write it down in my journal and what happened after I found it. Never thought about publishing it though. I wouldn't even know how to get it published. Never thought it would be worth my time or effort.
.....@301EAF I was hoping you may have written an article in a treasure magazine or something like that. I write for American Digger magazine and they just published an article I wrote up about this find. Guys seem to like reading about such stories. It keeps us all going. I would love to see any pictures you may still have as yours is an amazing find.
@aquachigger I look forward to reading about your story. What is the title of the article? Is it online? Did you do a lot of research in order to find this coin spill?
No, I don't have a camera. Looking at them in real life is much better anyway.
....@301EAF It's in the current issue of American Digger Magazine. There is no on-line version except a older sample issue. It just so happens I have an article in that one also (page 40). Just go to the American Digger Magazine website and look up the "Sampler Issue". My coin spill was "random" as I was looking for Civil War stuff at the time. It's too bad you didn't take any pictures of your coins as I guess you must have sold them if you were able to retire off of them.
@aquachigger No, I still have most of them, but I've been able to return some of them. It depends on the definition of "retired". I have retired to the third phase of my life.
@aquachigger wow thats cool i wouldnt even sell them i would keep them for telling stories you seriously found buried treasure reminds me of the movie national treasure with nicholas cage. i have only gone out like 8 times but i did find a gold ring with my garret ace 250 and have a video of it

Im a us army soldier from oklahoma and i was wondering if you are far from there because my buddy and i would love to grade your coins for you free of charge. we are avid coin hunters and detectors and wed love just to see the coins. you can email me privately.

I do plan to go get them soon to take better photographs of each one. I can share that file with you if you want to see them. Thanks again for the offer!
.....@pjbassturd I haven't had them looked at yet. It all depends on the condition they grade out at and if there are rare die strikes. I'm not a "coin man" so I couldn't even give you a good guess. Thanks for checking out the video!

.....@SDAddario88 Sorry, but I'm not going to start giving clues until I work the site at least one more season. I live on the border of four states and naming one would give my local competition a clue that would narrow their search by 75%. I hope you understand...

....@bandcreator28 All the time. They will find anything iron, like cannons, cannon balls, guns, iron treasure chests, etc. I used one just the other day to look for a well head that was buried.
@bandcreator28 .....@bandcreator28 The metal detector works on the principle of electrical conductivity of a substance, not magnetism. It's two totally different concepts. Every different type of metal or alloy will give a different response (sound or visual reading) with a metal detector. There is tons of info on the web about how it works. I'm just glad it does! You're right about a magnet or magnetometer, they will only detect iron and nickel.
....@bandcreator28 No, they are pretty much pure silver. Maybe 99% or so, at least the American ones. And by "season", I just mean winter. The rivers freeze over and it gets bone chilling cold. I've seen the ice several feet thick here. Plus, I'm kind of wimpy and like to hunt the water when it is warm. Thanks for checking out the video!
I was just searching YouTube for Garrett AT Pro videos because that's the detector I was considering purchasing for the 2012 season when I came across the best Youtube metal detecting video EVER! Simply amazing! Thumbs up, subscribed and favorited!
Incredible finds!..even more that you videoed and shared...state of the art equipment is important, but hard work, research and perseverance over the elements is what water detecting is about....a little luck... maybe, but it's your effort that made it happen...Inspiring to all fellow detectorists.
@Mojosmind Thanks. You're right about the luck factor. I got lucky that day and made a decent find. I guess it's like playing the lottery. If you buy enough tickets, you'll eventually win something. I DO spend a lot of time out and about searching. Maybe too much sometimes :)
@tntfireball I'm glad you enjoyed the video. I hope you get the opportunity to go out and recover a little history yourself. Learn as much as you can while in school. It all adds up in the end. Good luck!
@aquachigger HOLY CRAP!!! congrats man dont worry about all the chick it outs lol if i was u i would be doing summer saults lol. so in total how much money could all of these coins sell for IN TOTAL ( roughly )
@thefarley8989 I'm not really sure what would be considered a "good" date, but there is a nice spread of them. I'll do some more research once the detecting season is over. Thanks for checking out the video.
What a dream to hit a buried TREASURE!!! WOW WOW WOW!!! Unreal that you found all that makes all these other finds on here look so small. Where did you find them near an old home? What made you want to check there do people swim near by? Either way HUGE Congrats!!!
@JerseyMetalDetector Thanks man. They were a random find at an old river crossing I was checking out. People do swim there and it was a challenge not to attract too much attention from them!
I'm pretty sure they were lost when someone was crossing the river at the ford, probably during a flood. Of course, we'll probably never know for sure. Thanks for checking out the video.
wow wow wow!! that, mr underwater man, is simply bloody awesomely amazing!!! More vids like that one please hahaa I feel like going night hunting now. I'm currently after an AT Pro here in New Zealand but I got told to make sure I bought a US model...is there a difference you know of? Love this video!!
@madsonicboating Thanks man. I have been told that the only difference between the U.S. model and "foreign" ones is the sticker they put above the meter. No point in having readings correspond to U.S coins (dimes, nickels, quarters, etc.) when that isn't what is in the ground in your country. I'm not 100% on this, I'll try to find out for sure and post it as I have had this asked of me several times in my travels. Thanks for checking out the video!
@aquachigger Thanks man that'd be cool if you hear anything...yeah tone wise it doesn;t take long to get used to your own relic and coin id's for a machine if ya dig enough targets :)
I just really want a machine I can get wet if need be while seeking treasures or drive 2 hours to gold country and maybe have a crack on some raw nuggets and I hear the disc is good enough for hot area's like gold fields.
@DetectIndiana Thanks for checking out the video. I live in Maryland, but the video was shot in an "undisclosed location and state" ;-) I travel all over the country and found these coins while searching for Civil War artifacts.
Amazing hunt man!!! A big congrats to you!!! Thats like a once in a life time hunt right there. You just found one of every mans dream finds! I hoard of old silver coins!!! Looking forward in seeing more videos from you! Awesome job again!
@Dhekii I'm not familiar with the Ace 350, but if it isn't completely waterproof, I would not use it in the water. It has been my experience that no matter how careful you are, you will get water in a land detector and it will quit working. That may or may not ruin it forever. Good luck out there!
OH my gosh MAN. Where are you??? Those coins are so great, you're so lucky. I appreciate so much this video and I'm Brazilian so I have that coin, that's a beatiful coin . -Thomas
@heavymetalnut Thanks for checking out the video. I bought a Vibra Probe and used it a few times and I thought it was inferior to the Pro Pointer, even with the hassle of having to water proof them. I do know some guys that really like the VP, so I guess it more of a matter of opinion. Thanks again...
congrats on a once in a lifetime hunt.....or a few in your case......this video is gonna make me have a wet dream. Once again, fantastic hunt and video. L4S
Im not gonna lie...i watch this video daily since its been out..it almost makes me sick..lol..AwesomeFinds Man..I would love to have 1 of those coins you found..Just goes to show..the Shii is out there..Great Video
@DiggnNDumps Thanks! I have a bunch of other footage I didn't post up because the video was getting too long. I'll work on getting some more up a little later. There are some pretty cool shots, if I could only figure out how to dub out all of the "check it out!"s! Thanks again....
"if you get too bored to make it all the way through." you shittin' me? I was plastered to the edge of my seat trying to keep my jaw from hitting the floor.
Wow, that's amazing.
how's the AT Pro sound off on gold? any chance of some of those grunts being gold?
@swinginsouthjersey Thanks. I don't know how it would ring off on gold as I haven't found any with it yet :( All of my filming was done on the first day. On subsequent trips I removed all of the rocks and sand down to bedrock over a large area, so alas those grunts weren't gold. There may be a few washed downstream as I didn't have time to dig all of that up yet. Thanks for the kind comment!
@IdigHistoryVideo That's my go-to machine for creeks and rivers now. I have not used it in salt water yet, so I can't tell you about that environment. Thanks for checking out the video...
@aquachigger I started with a Garrett. And am still a fan of their stuff. And the AT pro is a machine I have really been interested in since it came out. As I would like a machine that I can use for water hunting. Now. Is your pro pointer just sealed up to be water proof with shoe goo? I use a vacume heat seal bags for mine that works pretty good. Simple to cut open. And replace the battery.
@IdigHistoryVideo I use shoe-goo or similar type stuff to seal up the light, speaker and pushbutton. I also put some non-hardening caulk in the threads as well. Lastly, I goop a string to the pointer and tie it off to my gear so it doesn't float away. I can see where a vacuum bag would work too. Thanks for the tip.
@cdubMRA I do mostly water hunt in the rivers and creeks. I have two CZ-21's and they have served me very well for many years, and they are great machines. Thanks for checking out the video.
Id be peeing my pants if I found one! lol...

Every different type of metal or alloy will give a different response (sound or visual reading) with a metal detector. There is tons of info on the web about how it works. I'm just glad it does! You're right about a magnet or magnetometer, they will only detect iron and nickel.
aquachigger 2 months ago
....@bandcreator28 No, they are pretty much pure silver.

Thanks for sharing!
Mojosmind 3 months ago
@Mojosmind Thanks. You're right about the luck factor. I got lucky that day and made a decent find. I guess it's like playing the lottery. If you buy enough tickets, you'll eventually win something. I DO spend a lot of time out and about searching. Maybe too much sometimes :)

Wow i think that is so cool because we are learning anout that time at school.
tntfireball 3 months ago
@tntfireball I'm glad you enjoyed the video. I hope you get the opportunity to go out and recover a little history yourself. Learn as much as you can while in school. It all adds up in the end. Good luck!

those bust half dollers are worth like 50-300 each even in poor condition were there any good years btw?
thefarley8989 3 months ago
@thefarley8989 I'm not really sure what would be considered a "good" date, but there is a nice spread of them. I'll do some more research once the detecting season is over. Thanks for checking out the video.

What a dream to hit a buried TREASURE!!! WOW WOW WOW!!! Unreal that you found all that makes all these other finds on here look so small. Where did you find them near an old home? What made you want to check there do people swim near by? Either way HUGE Congrats!!!
JerseyMetalDetector 3 months ago
@JerseyMetalDetector Thanks man. They were a random find at an old river crossing I was checking out. People do swim there and it was a challenge not to attract too much attention from them!

I'm pretty sure they were lost when someone was crossing the river at the ford, probably during a flood. Of course, we'll probably never know for sure. Thanks for checking out the video.

LostTreasureComAU 4 months ago
wow wow wow!! that, mr underwater man, is simply bloody awesomely amazing!!! More vids like that one please hahaa I feel like going night hunting now. I'm currently after an AT Pro here in New Zealand but I got told to make sure I bought a US model...is there a difference you know of? Love this video!!
madsonicboating 4 months ago
@madsonicboating Thanks man. I have been told that the only difference between the U.S. model and "foreign" ones is the sticker they put above the meter. No point in having readings correspond to U.S coins (dimes, nickels, quarters, etc.) when that isn't what is in the ground in your country. I'm not 100% on this, I'll try to find out for sure and post it as I have had this asked of me several times in my travels. Thanks for checking out the video!
aquachigger 4 months ago
@aquachigger Thanks man that'd be cool if you hear anything...yeah tone wise it doesn;t take long to get used to your own relic and coin id's for a machine if ya dig enough targets :)
I just really want a machine I can get wet if need be while seeking treasures or drive 2 hours to gold country and maybe have a crack on some raw nuggets and I hear the disc is good enough for hot area's like gold fields.

Do you think that I can use an garrett Ace 350 a submerge like you did in this video ? I think that I will break it
Dhekii 4 months ago
@Dhekii I'm not familiar with the Ace 350, but if it isn't completely waterproof, I would not use it in the water. It has been my experience that no matter how careful you are, you will get water in a land detector and it will quit working. That may or may not ruin it forever. Good luck out there!

dude maybe invest in a vibra-probe they are submersable and a great probe
heavymetalnut 4 months ago
@heavymetalnut Thanks for checking out the video. I bought a Vibra Probe and used it a few times and I thought it was inferior to the Pro Pointer, even with the hassle of having to water proof them. I do know some guys that really like the VP, so I guess it more of a matter of opinion. Thanks again...

"if you get too bored to make it all the way through." you shittin' me? I was plastered to the edge of my seat trying to keep my jaw from hitting the floor.
Wow, that's amazing.
how's the AT Pro sound off on gold? any chance of some of those grunts being gold?
Big congrats
HH
swinginsouthjersey 4 months ago
@swinginsouthjersey Thanks. I don't know how it would ring off on gold as I haven't found any with it yet :( All of my filming was done on the first day. On subsequent trips I removed all of the rocks and sand down to bedrock over a large area, so alas those grunts weren't gold. There may be a few washed downstream as I didn't have time to dig all of that up yet. Thanks for the kind comment!

Well. Needless to say. great FINDS! Other than that. What is your honest opinion on the AT pro for a water hunter?
IdigHistoryVideo 4 months ago
@IdigHistoryVideo That's my go-to machine for creeks and rivers now. I have not used it in salt water yet, so I can't tell you about that environment. Thanks for checking out the video...
aquachigger 4 months ago
@aquachigger I started with a Garrett. And am still a fan of their stuff. And the AT pro is a machine I have really been interested in since it came out. As I would like a machine that I can use for water hunting. Now. Is your pro pointer just sealed up to be water proof with shoe goo? I use a vacume heat seal bags for mine that works pretty good. Simple to cut open. And replace the battery.
IdigHistoryVideo 4 months ago
@IdigHistoryVideo I use shoe-goo or similar type stuff to seal up the light, speaker and pushbutton. I also put some non-hardening caulk in the threads as well. Lastly, I goop a string to the pointer and tie it off to my gear so it doesn't float away. I can see where a vacuum bag would work too. Thanks for the tip.
aquachigger 4 months ago
Wow, simply amazing. Do you do mostly river hunting? I do water hunting with a Fisher CZ-21, but have yet to venture into a river.
cdubMRA 4 months ago
@cdubMRA I do mostly water hunt in the rivers and creeks. I have two CZ-21's and they have served me very well for many years, and they are great machines. Thanks for checking out the video.
