i once took a portable cassette recorder out in the country with me and recorded the MK3 as i rolled past it at speed and went thru the gears - -Triumph shouldve knocked a few their bikes out to 828 too, but they didnt have superblend mains
Yeah i was born when this big beauty was coming off the production line, what a sexy sound!Glad i was born in the seventies id hate to think i was influenced by anything the eighties threw up,no pun intendid!
I never rode one but I heard that Norton made their bikes with a lot of torque (PUNCH power through any gear). Norton also had a great racing record over the earlier years, 50's and 60's. One of the best Racers, I'm thinking of Mike Hailwood (500cc). He was amazing.
ive had my Mk 3 about 20 years and just got er back out and id forgot how hard it pulls in 4th from 30 to 70 MPH - straightens my arm out goood for a vintage bike!
He he, looks like there is a lot of Norton people her. Well, the Commando must be one of the best sounding motorcycles in the whole motorcycle history.
why does the bike sound as if it wants to cough during idle? While it runs the engine sounds consistent but when the ride is over and the throttle is closed it becomes a little lumpy
where did you get the small wind shield?

Bought a new Mk 2A 1974..... Interstate
Creamy smooth after 2500rpm , rubber doing its job
Good 4 speed gear box , when primary and final chain correct tension.

To be honest the Norton engine was probably best as a 500, it was really smooth without the vibration :-) Anth.

These do have a lot of torque, you don't need any to change down to overtake - just roll on the throttle :-) Anth.

Lord, yes! There's nothing like the sound of a Norton. I have half a mind to rip the audio of the engine and loop it on my ipod.
