Hmm, would not have posted this vid but hey thanks.
I can hear a lot of, maybe side wind and just read you comment on shooting from a truck window. hey, well done on the hits, the miss's, just add them to mine, and have fun, never shot a prairie dog though.
I was zeroed at about 100 yards but most of the shots were less than that (50 to 75 yards). The .223 shoots flat enough that I didn't really have to worry about bullet drop. If I was shooting from a bench it would have been an easy bullseye on most shots, but I found that shooting out of a truck window on a windy day makes things a bit more difficult, haha. Thank you for the positive comment, by the way.
I'm sad that my marksmanship doesn't live up to your expectations. My rifle actually shoots sub MOA at 100 yards so I doubt that was the problem. I was shooting out the window of an idling pickup truck instead of off a bench rest, so I can clearly say that my steadiness and trigger pull were to blame. It's too bad that my video gets people worked up enough to swear at me for missing a few shots.
HAHAHAHA love the ones of them standing up then getting blasted. Its ALLWAYS the best when there stanging up! How they fall is so intresting, especially when there headshots. You should try 30-06 and make a video with it!
Spell check before you threaten people. The stressed form of to is spelled: too. Proper spelling should be a requisite before calling someone an idiot you anti-hunting moron.
Im watching some of these videos because I'm getting juiced to go to SD from TN to hunt them in 2 days. I cant wait. Thanks for posting the video. We are bringing 17hmr and .223, what were u using?
i think you need a mildot scope my freind and some simple math
Height of target in yards x 1000 divided by height of target in mills = RANGE
For instance the avrage height of a man is aprox 6 (or 2 yards)
If you sighted in on a standing man and in the view of your scope he measured 3 and ½ dots (or mils)
You estimate the size of the man as 2 yards tall
2 yards x 1000 divided by 3.5 mils = 571 yards
571 yards is your range

uh... what?
Is this just some random math story-problem you decided to give us?
austjb 2 years ago
not really lol its how u would estimate your ranges with a mildot scope
i learned and wanted to share :D

That's the first death threat I've gotten from an actual prairie dog!
(Clearly no human could make that many grammatical errors.)

Did you zero it right on where you were aiming at 100yrds?? The first few were consistently higher. I'm now really tempted to get a tikka.

What a bunch of idiots...
I love varmint and gopher hunting but this is the worse bunch I've ever seen...
Tip one- zero your damn rifle dipshit
Tip two- pratice on paper at off distances to learn your bullet drop.
tip three-learn to dope the wind...Dope!
Tip four...if you did all of this before shooting this video, then I guess you're as shakey as your dumbass D-talks camera man!

Pretty cool - what was the distance?
tyke3030 4 years ago
It varied from dog to dog, but we estimated that I able to hit them fairly reliably out to about 75-100 yards.

I love it. I too have had problems hunting prairie dogs in a strong wind. You seemed to compensate pretty good towards the end.
