Even the producers hadn't thought about inventing the character of the Freak. I thought the storylines were OTT when that pantomine villain arrived. Good before Val Lehman quit her role as Bea Smith,but predictable drivel from Ferguson for the other three years.
Vera was a Wentworth legend . She was strict but u would find her human side a lot easier than the Freak as Lizzie correctly pointed out where Veras concerned its better the devil you know!
Vera had good and bad points, but I believe she would have been a good governor at Barnhurst. Would love to have seen the one episode of Vera accepting Smith at Barnhurst !!
I never said I wasn't a Bea Smith fan, but now you mention Beatrice, she wasn't exactly an angel was she, just like a number of characters in Prisoner?

That was a sad ending to see Vera leave. That was nice of Lizzie and Mouse being sympathetic towards Vera unlike Bea, Judy and the extras.
Mouse and her pet rock gift for Vera, although she didn't take it home. Bless her. LOL
I hope that she kept in touch with Meg and maybe Erica and other staff, like Jim and Colleen and explained why she never came to her leaving party.
