You do understand that this bill was proposed by the lame duck republican president Bush right? And that this problem was caused by not only the existing policies of his administration, but the roots are as far reaching as the regan era (disaster). I am not for this bill, but for different reasons than most conservatives are against it. What this bill does do is make it harder for gov't to make the excuse of not being able to afford universal HC or other much needed social programs.

Uhh..no. Deregulation was the largest contributor to our current predicament. Republicans are all for deregulation And NOW republicans dislike Bush..They are alil late to that party aren't they? Conservatives are against this bailout because it goes against their ideology of the "free market". Liberals are against it because its corporate welfare at the expense of the working and middle class tax payer. Under Clinton we had quite the economy and a booming surplus. Nafta however should be tossed

Deregulation allowed for predator lending and spending. And allowed no oversight to these actions.

sure might of helped a little but this still would of happened eventually
