Not all of them did that. Albania and Turkey are democratic. Look at the reaction of Americans when their flag is burned. Some Americans want a law to ban the burning of the flag. In the UK it was an offense to criticize the royals.

Steyn says the Europe is dying well the USA has the same fertility rates and is going to be a non white nation before any European nations.

The western nations have low fertility rates because they are in stage4 of the demographic transition. Am i expected to write a 5000 word essay. I am being polite.

But this isn't about skin colour.  It's about culture. How many non-white Americans believe women should not be allowed to work or travel without the permission of their male counterparts for example. Have you actually read Steyns book? If so, it doesn't sound like you have understood the underlying principles. And just being expected to write an essay on the subject by no means automatically qualifies you as having an expert opinion.

ah, you give yourself away with your moral equivalences. The USA imprisons wife beaters and rapist. In Islamic countries wife beating is institutionalised. If you can't see the HUGE difference in that then you need to think more seriously about this instead of falling back on knee jerk anti western equivalences! Western values are objectively superior to islamic values.

I am not a moral relativist i think wife beaters, and bullies and rapists are evil. But I should look at moral equivalences when people try and claim we are superior to another race or culture. I do not support institutionalized wife beating or bullying or rape. But they were institutionalized in some nations in the west in the past. Look at voting laws in the past. I do not see us as superior when we did all that imperialism and kill off people in north America and Australia.

so you think that because of the mistakes of our fore fathers we should not have the right to criticise other currently backward countries? I personally like to stand in support of the persecuted women, men and minorities of these despotisms (islamic or otherwise) and not make wishy washy equivalences which inadvertantly mock the struggle they are currently engaged in. And this is regardless of whether "we did all that imperialism" or not.

No that is inconsistent you are saying that standing up for minorities means claiming all Islamic people are wife beaters. That makes no sense, that is the same as racism to claim all islamic people are wife beaters or oppressors.

My point is our society was no different and perhaps even worse 100 years ago. I think these people will progress to the standards of today your idea is that they will always remain wife beaters and will never progress. You are the one with wishy washy views.
