Reggie Miller had more intangibles than Ray Allen. Miller was more ferocious and clutch. Ray Allen is more of a weapon, but NOT a leader; he'll put up great numbers individually, but would never be able to single-handedly carry a team far. Allen needs another Big all-star on his team. Both are great pure shooters, but I would say that guys like Mark Price, Craig Hodges, Calvin Murphy, and Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf are a tad bit better; in terms of pure shooting.
reggie meant more to his team than ray allen, ray allen was good, but reggie CARRIED his team for much of his long career and when he went to the finals he wasn't playing with two future hall of famers
@jackster79ohk but he also didnt win so just stfu he cant be better if he has less points championships rings assist rebound 3 pointer made 3 piont percentage
nah, I dont think ray allen is a better all around player than reggie. Reggie had better could create shots better than ray, and his inside game/drive game was better in my opinion. Don't get me wrong though, Ray is awesome, but reggie is better to me
reggie miller is the best clutch shooter of all time. ray allen is the better all-around player but with one shot to win the game you have to pass the ball to reggie. i miss those 90's pacers.
if he would have just been more aggressive, drove to the hoop more, i think he could have been as good as MJ. He couldn't change up his game and just score if the long ball wasn't fallin very easily. every night was 6-3 point attempts and 2-2 point attempts. But that just wasn't his style i guess, or maybe that was the role the team needed him to play. Still great though, i'll never forget that 3 in the game against the bulls in the '98 conference finals, i went nuts!
Great Video!! Reggie Miller had the complete repertoire within his offense which made it very hard to defend against. The thing which made him deadly besides his clutch, was his no hesitation to take a shot. I miss watching this great NBA player. He should be in the HOF!:]
i dont care if ray allen broke the record. i love ray allen but reggie miller is the still the greatest 3 point shooter in NBA history. he deserves all of the respect he can get.
i dont care if ray allen broke the record. i love ray allen but reggie miller is the still the greatest 3 point shooter in NBA history. he deserves all of the respect he can get.
love this guy just a great shooter all the mixes these days are of dunks which is not bad but mixes like this let you see what nba was like when it was at its peak when each game was interesting i think money and over endorsements has taken away that love of the game feeling now its all about the money
4:47 is the definition of how hard it must be to guard reggie miller. he pushes of a big guy like its nothing, along with constantly sprinting and creating space for himself
@Henhani I'm not sure, I think maybe but Reggie was famous for being a ho ass like that. thats what he did was piss EVERYone else off. Best player to watch
I love Reggie Miller, I almost was in tears when he got bounced out of the playoffs for the last time against Detroit. But Reggie Miller is the 4th and argueably the 3rd best SG of all time. Kobe is number 2 because he beat Reggie head to head in the finals plus that game 4 when Reggie could of tied the series at 2, Kobe stole the show. Know Jerry West is Mr. Clutch but so was Reggie, grant it Mr. West won a title but Reggie Miller is too good to take a back seat in a disputable topic.
hes ganna play even better next year when the pacers get him some help in the draft. the pacers need to intentionally lose every game now toget the best draft pick possible. if we can get john wall that would be incredible. if not john wall, we need evan turner
wow, that was a nice lil piece. Reggie is probably the last player that i've followed in the NBA, just dont watch anymore, miss the jump shot or a pure shooter with some flair, like how somebody put it, he was an assassin and loved how he'd piss cats off, fans too, like NY, sure do miss the old NBA, 'Nique, Bird, Isiah, Dr. J, KJ, could go on and on and on...
I remember watching Reggie as a kid, the man was like some persian looking assassin to me. It was a great time in life, I was just getting into basketball and it coincided with the twighlight of alot of greats: MJ, Reggie, Magic's return, I could go on. I wish I understood what I was watching at the time, it's hard to relive the games once they've passed.
Ray Allen is a very good shooter but he never hit 50% of FG. PPG Ray Allen may have averaged more points in his career but if you look at shot percentages and per 36 minutes of career, Miller had 19.1 points along with 13.2 FGA (attempts) while Allen had 20.1 in 15.7 FGA. There's a difference in efficiency between the two all career not just playoffs.
ray did play horrible for 18 games not because he was off but because he was shut down. He is still one of the best shooters of all time. whats 18 games to a career. Its not like this video is one of reggie's games this is most of his career. you say reggie shot more difficult shots, not true he just faded for no reason half the time.Ray can shoot just as well and was much more aggressive to the rim earlier in his career.reggie retired very late.Ray allen is 34 and can still shoot like he was 20
LOL ok you didnt watch nothing.. he helped them win nothing, doc had him on the bench most of those 4th qrts an went with house.. ray was playin THAT BAD... in the cleveland series i think he avg 3pts a gm.. matched up against wally szcerbiak he had a ZERO pt gm, followed by a 2 pt gm LOL... Now if that was a ray allen led team he wouldnta had 18 straight bad gms cuz his team woulda went home in 4 gms LOL.. Hes a good player, NOT great an not a superstar.... Dont "over"rate LOL
I agree with you. Ray Allen was being shut down and choking at the same time. Reggie Miller is one of the most versatile players I have ever seen. Why he doesn't score more than Kobe or MJ? I don't know. But I know that never compare Ray Allen to Miller. Miller shot more difficult shots.
This guy never got enough credit... reggie was fuckin great..... an honestly it kinda annoys me when ppl compare him an ray allen... rays a great shooter no doubt about it, but as a player he aint no where near a reggie miller... Great players are defined by how they perform in situations... ray allen doesnt perform anything like this man in situations... Its actually the opposite lol.. other than this yrs playoffs what memories do you have of ray allen in the post season?????? LOL
I agree, Reggie never gets the credit he deserves when you talk about all time greats. He's easily a top 50 greatest NBA player. BUT, the Ray Allen comparison is not farfetched. Both are great, clutch shooters. They are both more than shooters, too.

So again, if you say ray is on reggies level then share with me some of your favorite ray allen moments in the playoffs LOLOL... Id love to hear them
yea he played good in the 08 finals but i dont really consider it that much cuz of the 17 or 18 straight horrendous games he had b4 that... how can u play horrible for 18 STRAIGHT playoff gms an call yourself a star lol... but this years playoffs he put on a show against the bulls an hit some big shots... but other than that, there really are no memories of anything ray allen did in the playoffs... hes a very good player but a reggie miller LOL... no way
How did he play horrible for 18 straight games? Ray Allen is a great player too. Why does it have to be either Reggie or Ray? I like both, and I do agree that Reggie is one of the best players of all time.
Ray should have been Finals MVP, and he also carried the Celtics on his back in the playoffs just this year.
Umm, yes I did, and I saw him struggle a lot in those games. But he also helped then win a bunch of games during that stretch too. Even when Ray Allen struggles, he still makes it easier for his teammates because of his reputation as a shooter. So even if he doesn't shoot, just being around the perimeter helps spread the floor and make it incredibly easier for Pierce and Garnett to maneuver. Regge 1.44

Kobe Bryant 1.31
It's like Reggie was only unleashed to his full potential in the 4th quarters and/or playoff games. And what a coincidence that's what he's known for.
good point, and imagine if reggie could hardly be touched like in today's rules. that guy was not only accurate but had one of the quickest releases ever. he's definitely one of the best clutch players.
I imitated my game from him, I became a fan of him since that 8 pts in the 1995 ECF against the Knicks from there I watch every game of the Pacers and watch how he moves without the ball and practice it. I'm an SF but I play better at SG
I think Reggie Miller is one of the Best 3 point shooters in NBA History others may say Reggie Sucks they just say that because they are jealous or they never watched him play before but Miller is one of the top 3 point shooters ever (THE BEST!!)
yes reggie miller was the man and greatness is never measured in the amount of rings but how u can change the game significantly and he made the game entertaining to watch reggie miller's legacy will live on
he earned his keep no doubt. the game missssses him. basketball fundamentals. not about showing off (d-wade, lebron, kobe ect) but playing the game as it was meant to be. younger generations just dont get it. its not about being hyped as the youngest and greatests to go to the playoffs (lebron) anyone can dunk. real proffesionals attack nice and swiftly without calling too much attention (duncan). damn reggie i miss you no doubt i miss you. legendary games against ewing.
Reggie miller was incredible.. shit.. best Three point shooter ever.. i have a question.. did he win any ring? i have no clue.. he should have.. cause hes great.. Living Legend just like Michael Jordan.. diferences between those 2 but there is one thing that is just the same.. they r both GREAT! 23 & 31 4ever!
lol... i cried @ his retirement ceremony.. i really did... i went and bawled like a baby... he's the greatest, had more caholes than anyone else will ever have... from his swagger to his genuine care for the Nap... I LOVE YOU REG!
damn...i miss this dude so much. he's what got me into basketball. such an amazing player. i'll kill someone if he don't get into the hall of fame. and check out ron ron on the shot at 2:36. he knew it was in without even watching. because it's reggie miller
I grew up watching him, and I bought league pass every year to watch him every chance I got. Now that he's gone, I don't watch Basketball anymore. It just ain't the same anymore. Reggie was the best as far as I'm conerned, 31 for life.
Reggie Miller had more intangibles than Ray Allen. Miller was more ferocious and clutch. It's like Reggie was only unleashed to his full potential in the 4th quarters and/or playoff games. And what a coincidence that's what he's known for.

Okay people. Shut up about Ray Allen. When the games on the line I'll take Reggie every time. The greatest CLUTCH shooter ever.
ericalley94 3 years ago 3
I agree Reggie miller is the best shooter of all time but ray Allen is definitely second.

nothing is better than seeing reggie miller draining 3 pointers.

I imitated my game from him, I became a fan of him since that 8 pts in the 1995 ECF against the Knicks from there I watch every game of the Pacers and watch how he moves without the ball and practice it. I'm an SF but I play better at SG

he earned his keep no doubt. the game missssses him. basketball fundamentals. not about showing off (d-wade, lebron, kobe ect) but playing the game as it was meant to be. younger generations just dont get it. its not about being hyped as the youngest and greatests to go to the playoffs (lebron) anyone can dunk. real proffesionals attack nice and swiftly without calling too much attention (duncan). damn reggie i miss you no doubt i miss you. legendary games against ewing.

I grew up watching him, and I bought league pass every year to watch him every chance I got. Now that he's gone, I don't watch Basketball anymore. It just ain't the same anymore. Reggie was the best as far as I'm conerned, 31 for life.
