i have this. the lenscover is really easy to pull down. the video quality is really good. the t200 is sick - i got it for xmas last year and its still in great condition.

it has great pic quality. but buy a case because the touchscreen can get scratched easily (just like every touchscreen out there)

The screen is not like other non-touch screens, its like soft plastic and does not scratch easily. I have one in silver, no casing, no LCD protection, had it in a bag with my phone, keys, had it in my jeans pocket, no scratches, just some dirt on the metal bit. Great camera.

Instead of 'AUTO' use 'PGM' or Program Auto, then touch 'MENU' then touch the 3rd icon (an icon of a rectangle with a plus sign on the top corner), then touch to Vivid, B&W, SEPIA etc.

This camera should be sold only with the protection foil for the touch screen. Only after 2 days since I boght it you could identify first scratchers. I am used to work with the Sony touch screen on Ericsson Sonny mobiles. After 2 years the display is still as new. You have to be also careful with handling so on your favorit picture you do not catch your finger. The lens is position this way that it can happen easily.

I read reviews for t100 and t200 and some of them mentioned that this camera gets loads of red eyes in images with flash on and you would probably be using the red eye reduction software very often if you buy it... is that true... cause i had no red eye issues with my old sony p200 ... and am plannong to buy this.

My Girl got one for her and when I used it I Loved It, This camera dose have it all, you can record video with audio, the rechargeable battery will take 250 pictures, its HD 1080i, with 5x optical zoom and men the screen is 3.5. The Menu has tons of options and super ez to use. I Love the face Smile Shutter, you all so have this Pain option, so you can add a frames or other stuff to you pictures. And yes I have to give this camera a 10.

Yea, I do have a Sony DSC-T50 and it has a 3.0inch touch screen pretty similar to the DSC-T200.

You can use the touch screen with pretty much anything, i.e.;

Your finger, a pen, the end of a keychain, etc etc....

As for the screen, without a screen protector, I think it won't scratch that easily, but prob if you scratch it with keys or something, i can't help you in this because my camera has a screen protector.

P.S. realmzzz it is "paint pen"

hey jon can you show me what the steps are like for DELETING a picture? i had a sony t-20 and to delete a picture it was a horrible 4-5 steps process. my other t-7 could delete a picture in 2 steps which was very nice...

its HD Photo format, not HD video. The HD 1080 settings on the still image format will make it wider (widescreen) and much more vivid if you connect it to your HD TV via their un-included HD cradle/wires. Its not that useful for prints but its great for showing off on HD-TV coz it wont distort the image or make 4:3 format look un-even and 'wider' than usual. Great camera, but fairly expensive here. T70 is more my budget with nearly the same functions.

theres 2 'HD' camcorders by Aiptek which have a price range of EUR 170 and EUR 299 (try and check local site for currency exchange). They are alright for HD capture. Only HD video not photos. Its not as good as Sony HD or other, but great for trial/first time buyer of HD cam to give it a go. But uses SD card, not hard drive etc.

Just to correct a mistake, it doesn't 'take video at full 1080', nor can it display video at 1080. It shoots normal VGA 640 video, and can display STILL images at 1080 on a HDTV (well, certain HD TVs, mainly Sonys), and these iamges have to be shot in the 2-megapixel 16:9 mode. So it's basically a useless feature.

full 1080 is for pictures only which you see on the front of the camera. Videos taken by t200 is only 640x480, 30fps (refer to the specs.). A full hd video resolution requires a 1920x1080 pixels thats the 1080p

40 pics to run down to half battery? I'm sorry but I love being a DSLR user. 700+ pics on one charge. Nice camera though for people hwo want something slim. It's like an Audi of cameras, luxurious and can perform, but not a die hard like a Corvette of Ferrari(DSLR). Good review, look forward to hopefully more Mac stuff(that's why I'm subscribed to you) but great job overall and a nice refreshing break into photography rather than computers.
