  • like this one alot but london calling is much better....

  • Gotta love the 80's!!!!!!

  • my dad hates this song cuz he says they played it too much but when he's not around i always turn up the volume. ;D

  • Why is some dude Wearing A bed sheet for A jacket and A Cafe' tablecloth for A hat if they're in Texas? You don't get many Armadillo in the middle East. Maybe they meant "Rock the Crackahs", There's LOTS of those in Texas!

  • @bigfootskitty ....Texas crackers? see Florida for that term. I don't care what you call texans..but don't insult us Crackers by mistake

  • Cute armadillo in the video.

  • Ah the memories.

  • Sharif don't like it.

  • I saw these guys in cbgbs in new york city i sneaked in the club i was 14 yrs old great times !

  • Man, I love PROTEST SONGS! Wish Clash was still around.

"Nanceeee don't like it! ROCK the CONGRESS, Rock the Congress!" LOL

  • Enough good things can't be said about this video. That's what the 80's was all about. Who's behind me? Thank You.

  • I wonder what people in the Middle-East thought when this first came out.

  • They probably thought it rocked!

  • yeh yeh

  • Is this song based off of a real life event or what? Thank You.

  • This is another one classic... pure 80's!!! great MF song! The Clash!!!! very very MF good!! from Mexico Juda...

  • I think it has something more to do with Saudi Arabia and now Iran. If you look at the head dress and dress, then you should know it comes from Saudi Arabia or the arab nations, just trying to help out!

  • Politically concious & melodically superior.

May The Clash ROCK ON forever!

  • CLASSIC!

  • What's the lead singer's name? Oh my God. Thank You.

  • Joe Strummer (:

  • What is this song about exactly? Thank You

  • One theory is that the song was inspired by the banning of rock music in Iran under Ayatollah Khomeini. The song gives a fabulist account of the ban being defied by the population, who proceed to "rock the casbah". The King orders jet fighters to bomb any people in violation of the ban. The pilots ignore the orders, and instead play rock music on their cockpit radios.

  • thanks

thats very helpful, because I was painfully confused.

  • correct, well almost.

  • What is the whole deal with the oil and the armadillo in the video? Someone please help me understand. Thank You.

  • the armadillo represents Texas oilmen.

  • Even the Clash knew about arabs 25 years ago, rockin the casbah, fuck the casbah

  • AHH The summer of '82 was the best. Thank You.

  • that was really dumb seriously

  • Says you, bighence. It's a free country and I'll say whatever the hell I want. Thank You.

  • whats up with the armadillo?....

  • It's cool

  • ROCK THE CASBAH ROCK THE CASBAH!

  • Wow exelente video te felicito por averlo subido con ese clasico me trae viejos recuerdos.

  • rock the catbox....

  • A true masterpiece of the 80's right here. I vaguely remember listening to this song when I was little. Thank You.

  • RIP Joe Strummer....

  • Such a hilarous video, I LOVE IT!!

  • Power, nrg and pathos galore today's music nor can dream of. One of the best rockpunkpoporwhateveruwant hits of all times. It's a shame Joe had to leave us so early.

  • LOCK THE TASKBAR!

  • ROCK THE CATCAR?!

  • Please come back and stay 80's music. Thank You.

  • Not your typical punk band, a punk band with TALENT!

  • what is the message in this song ?

  • Look it up on wikipedia. I wrote a report on it. It's about how rock music was banned in Iran and people were actually getting killed over it. But people would listen to it anyways even with that risk. Joe was saying that people were still "rocking the casbah".

  • THE BEST PUNK!!!!

  • great!

  • I love The Clash, but it sounds like thier saying stop the cat box.

  • one of the 80s greatest fuckin songs !where r they at now? plz plz come back

  • If you want to get me up and rockin', this is the song to put on!!! I LOVE IT!!!

  • Rock The Cashbah! YEEEAH!

  • This is REAL punk rock.

  • i wish i was born in the 50's. if i had a choice i wouldn't miss the 60's for nothing. get to see the rolling stones live, and you're still kind of young enough to enjoy all the 80's stuff :D

  • Oh, man, I think we DID use up all the fun in the 80s. Crap, sorry kids. Y'all just have to make some more. Support your local (real) music, for a start. Even the Clash was local once.

  • Shareef don't like it!

  • Rock The Casbah

  • shut up liamthomahornby are you like 3 guys put together

  • totally agree with vennombrand

  • great!!!

  • Damn i wish i was born in the 80's

    Thanx mom and dad

  • Being born in the sixties you got to enjoy it more ,,,lol

  • Exactly, I born in the 80's and I don't enjoy this in that moment...

  • I remember around 1980 my friends and I went to see them at the Cleveland Agora.

This song wasn't even on the charts yet. Talk about a show...well from what I remember.lol Beer was flowing freely and the smell of pot was in the air. The early days of punk/combat rock...It was fun I survived..

  • Its like that CBGB's t-shirt that said "I survive the sex pistols tour" or something like that, I born in '89 and i love the clash since i was 6, one of my first records was London Calling and also Destroyer from Kiss, jaja.

  • The AGORA RULES! Broke alotta bands there through the years. Latest was Blue October a couple years back in one of the side rooms. Saw 'em twice there before HOB got a foothold downtown. ROCK ON!

  • oops, i was replying to an earlier comment. reference is to the Cleveland Agora, a rock icon since the 60's -tx

  • The Prentenders, Divo,The Clash...there were so many. Cleveland and the Agora could make or break a band back in the day.

Remember when WMMMS had the coffee break concerts there?

  • im sure that "HQ" audio stood for "horrible quality" audio. but this is a great song brinds back memories

  • "Rock The Casbah" by The Clash is one of the best songs from 1983. And it's brings so many great memories of my High School years. cool classic.

  • This song is old school. Thank You.

  • this is actually really bad audio quality

  • Great song, GREAT VIDEO!

  • "HQ audio"

    in what universe

  • 0:50~~~>Armidillo

  • The Clash forever... ... ...

  • GOD BLESS JOE STRUMMER He was one of the best rockstar, and I don't say only for the music, but also(and especially) he was a wonderful person..really a great man;he left us so soon,... :) and I'm so sad..

RIP JOE,you'll be in my heart forever

  • Wonderful song. I'm sure it brings back memories to those who remember where they were when it came out. Thank You.

  • Is that Barak Obama at :34?

  • You're a dumb racist.

  • thats why i miss the 80's not much to worry about just having fun and great music instead of this BS about what people are writing,

  • Yeah, don't ban this boogie sound.

  • fundamentalist ANYTHING is bad, and armadillos are good

  • THE ARMADILLO IS TH BEST PART

    <3 armadillo

and the song is pretty rockin to

  • These were our prophets - very chilling how the video prophesized the current state of world affairs!!!

  • Comment removed

  • lighten up man,, its jst a vid

  • It IS just a vid, but the undertones are important.

  • same can be said for christian fundamentalist

  • Yeah, see. The main different between the two these days is pretty important, the christian fundamentalist will disagree with a homosexuals right to marry, the islamic fundamentalist will disagree with the homosexuals right to LIFE.

    BIG difference there.

  • but both will kill for god!

  • Yes, but one has been doing MUCH MORE killing than the other as of late. Watch the news much?

  • your right its the leaders of both sides that are crazy in the head. So its the people how get fucked.

  • That isn't necessarily true. Some religions like the Amish don't believe in modern conveniences, but Muslims just have a different perspective of things.

  • Comment removed

  • Believe it or not, not every Muslim is going to strap a bomb to their back and blow up a police station. I don't agree with everything Muslims believe, but I'm tired of weak-minded people attacking people because they're different.

  • Spoken like a true, ignorant American.

  • Caro Luis, o seu gosto musical é notável. Mas o Clash gravou essa música nos anos 70. De qualquer forma, obrigada por postar.

  • Trivia: Does anyone know what porno movie this featured in?

  • this is in a porno?

  • Not this particular vid. I was living in Italy at the time and the bloke upstairs had all these videos. He seemed to collect them like other people collect stamps. Anyway, while I was looking through some that I might borrow, I hear the Clash. Looking at his TV there is this full on porno and there are the Clash sing this song While things are going on shall we say. Can't remember what it was called though.

  • Topper Headon... who wrote most of this song... is noticeably absent from the video.

  • "HQ audio"?

  • HQ = High Quality

  • The comment was moreso that this isn't remotely high quality.

  • love the armadillo :-D

  • DAMN, Joe Strummer left us WAY too soon!

    He was THE MAN!!!

    Rest in peace...

  • It sounds like it was recorded in a tin can...

  • This audio is not high quality. It may have a high bitrate, but it sounds like it was recorded in a tin can.

  • One of my favourite songs in the world.

  • This is the theme song to Operation Desert Storm

  • Are you kidding?

  • No, it was the unofficial theme for Operation Desert Storm, according to Armed Forces Radio! It was the first song that was played on Armed Forces Radio after Desert Storm began. And radio stations across America were overwhelmed by Soldiers and civilians requesting this song during the the war.Soldiers wrote "Rock the Casbah" on bombs before being droped into Iraq.

  • Thanks for the info. I'm currently in a cultural studies class and would love to research this. That's a shame that this song would be used for war purposes. I can only imagine Joe Strummer's reaction back then. Take care.

  • 1:16 haha best scene. love it

  • FANTASTIC .

  • grandi rico espiriens....grandi andrea matteo mattia e ghelli...rovereto è con voi!!!!!!!!

  • bellissima

  • Even though it showed up in 1980 Rolling Stone Magazine voted this the album of the 80s in 1990.

  • "London Calling" is from 1980. This track is from "Combat Rock" (1982)

  • if this is HQ audio U.S.A. is the oldest country in the world...

  • ROCK THE CASBAH!! ROCK THE CASBAH!!!

  • Its actually 'Rockin' the Casbah, Rock the Casbah' Lol

  • Get over it, the sound is good

  • Hmmm Are you sure its HQ audio?

  • This song (and video) is so perfect, its probably banned somewhere.

  • I think it HAS been--once, by the British Army, during the first Gulf War. (Mustn't insult the mysoginist pederastic towelheads, whom we saved from those nasty Ba'athists--we need their oil and weapons contracts! Of course, once old, beardy 'Canadian' Wahhabis like Sohawardy, Hindy and the like hear this song, a Human Rights Tribunal will posthumously charge Joe Strummer...)

  • Long live the 80s! 5*!

  • Hell no! Aint got the same groove with the Trust Company version :/ ROCK THE CASBAH! The original way

  • They had burger king back then??? Srry, just saw it in the background and was wondering...

  • great song..

  • why has every single Rock the Casbah vid on utube have the embedding removed ?

  • this song is so ahead of its time in my opinion.

  • I couldnt agree more with you my friend

  • Great UK band!!!

  • Great song great video. That home at 1.42 is the chicken ranch, made famous by the best little whorehouse in Texas and the ZZ Top song Lagrange.

  • It's Sharif from what I remember from the old album lyrics.

  • nice. i really don't like it...rock the casbah. hahahahahahaha. she really don't like.

  • they're actually saying "Sharia don't like it"-- sharia was the Islamic law in Iran that made listening to rick n' roll a crime.

  • In karaoke lyrics, they spell it shareef and they're singing, "Shareef don't like it!"-Mikey (I've seen many friends try to sing this song drunk before LOL)

  • Rock The Casbah !!! Rock The Casbah !!! Excellent !! Vive the clash !!!

  • One of the things I loved right away was seeing the little armadillo running before the song fully started LOL--This became an instant classic hit with me when I first heard it in high school at one of our dances--Ahh what great memories!-Mikey, faved & 10/10!

  • i love it for ever!

  • ROCK THE CASBAH

    all across the middle east

  • fantastic!! classic song from a classic album!!!!

  • Before I saw the title of this song, I thought it was called "Rock the Cash Box" lol

  • I was closer than you, I said "Rock the cash bar". lol

  • If there isn't a spoof version with that name yet, you've no excuse now not to write one.
